2 Kings 20

1 About then Hezekiah fel il and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came andsaid to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Put your affairs in order, for you are going to die, you wil not live." '	1 In quei giorni Ezechia s'ammalò mortalmente. Allora il profeta Isaia, figlio di Amoz, si recò da lui e gli disse: "Così parla il Signore: "Metti in ordine la tua casa, perché stai per morire e non vivrai!".
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wal and addressed this prayer to Yahweh,	2 Allora Ezechia voltò la faccia verso la parete e pregò il Signore:
3 'Ah, Yahweh, remember, I beg you, that I have behaved faithful y and with sincerity of heart in yourpresence and done what you regard as right.' And Hezekiah shed many tears.	3 "O Signore, ricorda che io ho camminato alla tua presenza con fedeltà e con cuore devoto e ho fatto ciò che è gradito ai tuoi occhi". Poi Ezechia scoppiò in un gran pianto.
4 Isaiah had not left the middle court, before the word of Yahweh came to him,	4 Isaia non era ancor uscito dal cortile centrale che gli fu rivolta la parola del Signore:
5 'Go back and say to Hezekiah, prince of my people, "Yahweh, the God of your ancestor David, saysthis: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I shal cure you: in three days' time you will go up to theTemple of Yahweh.	5 "Ritorna a dire a Ezechia, capo del mio popolo: "Così parla il Signore, Dio di tuo padre Davide: Ho ascoltato la tua preghiera, ho visto le tue lacrime; ecco, io ti guarisco e di qui a tre giorni salirai al tempio del Signore.
6 I shal add fifteen years to your life. I shal save you and this city from the king of Assyria's clutches anddefend this city for my sake and my servant David's sake." '	6 Aggiungerò quindici anni e libererò dalla mano del re di Assiria te e questa città cui farò da scudo per amor mio e del mio servo Davide".
7 'Bring a fig poultice,' Isaiah said; they brought one, applied it to the ulcer, and the king recovered.	7 Poi Isaia disse: "Prendete una schiacciata di fichi". La presero, l'applicarono sull'ulcera ed egli guarì.
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'What is the sign to tel me that Yahweh wil cure me and that I shal be goingup to the Temple of Yahweh in three days' time?'	8 Allora Ezechia disse a Isaia: "Qual è il segno che il Signore sta per guarirmi e nel terzo giorno salirò al tempio del Signore?".
9 'Here', Isaiah replied, 'is the sign from Yahweh that he wil do what he has said; would you like theshadow to go forward ten steps, or to go back ten steps?'	9 Isaia rispose: "Questo è per te il segno da parte del Signore che egli realizzerà quello che ha detto: vuoi che l'ombra avanzi di dieci gradi oppure che retroceda di dieci gradi?".
10 'It is easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps,' Hezekiah replied. 'No, I would rather the shadowwent back ten steps.'	10 Ezechia disse: "E' facile per l'ombra avanzare di dieci gradi. No! Piuttosto l'ombra retroceda di dieci gradi".
11 The prophet Isaiah then cal ed on Yahweh, who made the shadow cast by the declining sun on thesteps -- the steps to Ahaz's roof-room -- go back ten steps.	11 Allora il profeta Isaia invocò il Signore che fece retrocedere l'ombra di dieci gradi su quelli che il sole aveva già percorso sulla scala di Acaz.
12 At that time the king of Babylon, Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, sent letters and a gift toHezekiah, for he had heard of his il ness and his recovery.	12 In quel tempo il re di Babilonia Merodàch-Baladàn, figlio di Baladàn, inviò ad Ezechia lettere e doni poiché aveva saputo che egli era stato malato.
13 Hezekiah was delighted at this and showed the ambassadors his entire treasury, the silver, gold,spices, precious oil, his armoury too, and everything to be seen in his storehouses. There was nothing in hispalace or in his whole domain that Hezekiah did not show them.	13 Ezechia fu molto lieto e mostrò loro tutta la sala del tesoro, l'argento, l'oro, gli aromi e l'olio prezioso, il suo arsenale e quanto si trovava nei suoi magazzini. Non ci fu nulla del palazzo e di tutti i possedimenti che Ezechia non facesse loro vedere.
14 The prophet Isaiah then came to King Hezekiah and asked him, 'What have these men said, andwhere have they come from?' Hezekiah answered, 'They have come from a distant country, from Babylon.'	14 Allora il profeta Isaia si recò dal re Ezechia e gli disse: "Che cosa hanno detto quegli uomini e donde sono venuti a te?". Ezechia rispose: "Essi sono venuti da un paese lontano, da Babilonia".
15 Isaiah said, 'What have they seen in your palace?' 'They have seen everything in my palace,'Hezekiah answered. 'There is nothing in my storehouses that I have not shown them.'	15 Quegli replicò: "Che cosa hanno visto nel tuo palazzo?". Ezechia rispose: "Hanno visto tutto quello che si trova nel mio palazzo; non c'è nulla dei miei magazzini che io non abbia fatto loro vedere".
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, 'Listen to the word of Yahweh,	16 Allora Isaia disse ad Ezechia: "Ascolta la parola del Signore:
17 "The days are coming when everything in your palace, everything that your ancestors have amasseduntil now, wil be carried off to Babylon. Not a thing wil be left," Yahweh says.	17 "Ecco, verranno giorni in cui sarà portato a Babilonia tutto quello che si trova nel tuo palazzo e quello che i tuoi padri hanno accumulato fino ad oggi: nulla sarà lasciato, dice il Signore.
18 "Sons sprung from you, sons fathered by you, wil be abducted to be eunuchs in the palace of theking of Babylon." '	18 Inoltre alcuni dei tuoi figli che da te sono usciti, che tu hai generato, saranno presi e diverranno eunuchi nel palazzo del re di Babilonia".
19 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'This word of Yahweh that you announce is reassuring,' for he was thinking,'And why not? So long as there is peace and security during my lifetime.'	19 Ezechia disse a Isaia: "E' buona la parola del Signore che tu hai pronunziato. Pensavo infatti: Perché no? Almeno durante la mia vita vi sarà pace e sicurezza!".
20 The rest of the history of Hezekiah, al his prowess, how he constructed the pool and the conduit tobring water into the city, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?	20 Le altre gesta di Ezechia, tutto il suo coraggio e come egli ha costruito la piscina e l'acquedotto per condurre l'acqua in città, non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?
21 Then Hezekiah fel asleep with his ancestors; his son Manasseh succeeded him.	21 Ezechia s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e suo figlio Manasse regnò al suo posto.
