1 About then Hezekiah fel il and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came andsaid to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Put your affairs in order, for you are going to die, you wil not live." '	1 - In quel tempo Ezechia si ammalò di malattia mortale, e venne da lui il profeta Isaia figlio di Amos, a dirgli: «Ecco quel che dice il Signore: - Metti ordine alle cose della tua casa, poichè tu morirai e non vivrai -».
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wal and addressed this prayer to Yahweh,	2 Ezechia, rivolta la faccia verso la parete, pregò il Signore, dicendo:
3 'Ah, Yahweh, remember, I beg you, that I have behaved faithful y and with sincerity of heart in yourpresence and done what you regard as right.' And Hezekiah shed many tears.	3 «Ti supplico, o Signore, ricordati di grazia, che io ho camminato al tuo cospetto nella verità e con cuore perfetto, e ho sempre fatto ciò che è bene dinanzi a te». Poi Ezechia pianse dirottamente.
4 Isaiah had not left the middle court, before the word of Yahweh came to him,	4 Isaia, che stava uscendo, era giunto a metà dell'atrio, quando la parola del Signore gli fu rivolta in questi termini:
5 'Go back and say to Hezekiah, prince of my people, "Yahweh, the God of your ancestor David, saysthis: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I shal cure you: in three days' time you will go up to theTemple of Yahweh.	5 «Torna indietro e di' a Ezechia, capo del mio popolo: - Il Signore Dio di Davide tuo padre dice queste cose: Ho udita la tua preghiera e ho viste le tue lagrime; ed ecco che io ti ho guarito e fra tre giorni salirai alla casa del Signore.
6 I shal add fifteen years to your life. I shal save you and this city from the king of Assyria's clutches anddefend this city for my sake and my servant David's sake." '	6 Prolungherò la tua vita di quindici anni; di più libererò te e questa città dalla mano del re di Assiria e proteggerò questa città per amor mio e per amore di Davide mio servo -».
7 'Bring a fig poultice,' Isaiah said; they brought one, applied it to the ulcer, and the king recovered.	7 Isaia disse: «Portatemi una massa di fichi». Portata che fu, la pose sulla piaga del re e lo curò.
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'What is the sign to tel me that Yahweh wil cure me and that I shal be goingup to the Temple of Yahweh in three days' time?'	8 Ora Ezechia aveva chiesto a Isaia: «Quale sarà il segno che il Signore mi guarirà e che salirò fra tre giorni al tempio del Signore?».
9 'Here', Isaiah replied, 'is the sign from Yahweh that he wil do what he has said; would you like theshadow to go forward ten steps, or to go back ten steps?'	9 Isaia gli rispose: «Eccoti da parte del Signore il segno che egli farà quanto ha promesso: - Vuoi tu che l'ombra ascenda di dieci linee, oppure indietreggi di altrettanti gradi? -».
10 'It is easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps,' Hezekiah replied. 'No, I would rather the shadowwent back ten steps.'	10 Rispose Ezechia: «È cosa facile che l'ombra avanzi di dieci gradi, nè ciò domando che avvenga; domando invece che indietreggi di dieci gradi».
11 The prophet Isaiah then cal ed on Yahweh, who made the shadow cast by the declining sun on thesteps -- the steps to Ahaz's roof-room -- go back ten steps.	11 Isaia allora invocò il Signore, che fece retrocedere l'ombra di dieci gradi sull'orologio di Acaz su cui era discesa.
12 At that time the king of Babylon, Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, sent letters and a gift toHezekiah, for he had heard of his il ness and his recovery.	12 In quel tempo Berodac Baladan figlio di Baladan, re di Babilonia, mandò una lettera e regali ad Ezechia, poichè aveva inteso che era stato ammalato.
13 Hezekiah was delighted at this and showed the ambassadors his entire treasury, the silver, gold,spices, precious oil, his armoury too, and everything to be seen in his storehouses. There was nothing in hispalace or in his whole domain that Hezekiah did not show them.	13 Ezechia si consolò tutto all'arrivo di quei messaggeri e mostrò loro il luogo dove stavano gli aromi, l'oro, l'argento, i vari unguenti e il luogo dei vasi suoi e tutto ciò che poteva avere nei suoi tesori. Non ci fu cosa nella sua casa e in tutti i suoi dominii, che Ezechia non mostrasse loro.
14 The prophet Isaiah then came to King Hezekiah and asked him, 'What have these men said, andwhere have they come from?' Hezekiah answered, 'They have come from a distant country, from Babylon.'	14 Venne però il profeta Isaia al re Ezechia e gli domandò: «Che cosa han detto costoro, e donde son venuti a te?». Ezechia rispose: «Vennero da un paese lontano, da Babilonia».
15 Isaiah said, 'What have they seen in your palace?' 'They have seen everything in my palace,'Hezekiah answered. 'There is nothing in my storehouses that I have not shown them.'	15 Isaia allora chiese: «Che han visto in casa tua?». Ed Ezechia rispose: «Han visto tutto ciò che si trovava in casa mia; nè havvi cosa alcuna tra i miei tesori che non abbia loro mostrato».
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, 'Listen to the word of Yahweh,	16 Isaia pertanto disse ad Ezechia: «Ascolta la parola del Signore:
17 "The days are coming when everything in your palace, everything that your ancestors have amasseduntil now, wil be carried off to Babylon. Not a thing wil be left," Yahweh says.	17 - Verranno giorni nei quali tutte queste cose che sono nella tua casa e che i padri tuoi han tenute riposte fino a questo giorno, saranno portate in Babilonia e qui non rimarrà nulla, - dice il Signore.
18 "Sons sprung from you, sons fathered by you, wil be abducted to be eunuchs in the palace of theking of Babylon." '	18 - Anzi gli stessi tuoi figli che nasceranno da te e che tu genererai, saranno presi e fatti eunuchi nel palazzo del re di Babilonia -».
19 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'This word of Yahweh that you announce is reassuring,' for he was thinking,'And why not? So long as there is peace and security during my lifetime.'	19 Ezechia rispose ad Isaia: «La parola del Signore che tu hai proferita è buona; regni la pace e la verità durante il resto de' miei giorni».
20 The rest of the history of Hezekiah, al his prowess, how he constructed the pool and the conduit tobring water into the city, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?	20 Il resto poi delle azioni di Ezechia e tutte le sue imprese, come abbia fatto la piscina e l'acquedotto ed introdotto le acque nella città, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
21 Then Hezekiah fel asleep with his ancestors; his son Manasseh succeeded him.	21 Ezechia dormì co' suoi padri e regnò in sua vece il figlio suo Manasse.
