1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.	1 L'anno diciassettesimo di Pekach, figlio di Romelia, divenne re di Giuda Acaz, figlio di Iotam.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.He did not do what Yahweh his God regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	2 Al suo avvento al trono Acaz aveva vent'anni e regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme. Egli non fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore Dio suo, come aveva fatto invece il suo antenato Davide.
3 He followed the example of the kings of Israel, even causing his son to pass through the fire ofsacrifice, also copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	3 Imitò la condotta dei re d'Israele e fece persino bruciare suo figlio, secondo le usanze abominevoli delle genti che il Signore aveva cacciato davanti ai figli d'Israele.
4 He offered sacrifices and incense on the high places, on the hil s and under every luxuriant tree.	4 Egli offrì sacrifici e bruciò incenso sulle alture, sulle colline e sotto ogni albero frondoso.
5 Then it was that Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, launched theircampaign against Jerusalem. They besieged it but could not reduce it.	5 Allora Rezin, re di Aram, e Pekach, figlio di Romelia, re d'Israele, salirono per combattere contro Gerusalemme, l'assediarono, ma non riuscirono ad espugnarla.
6 (At that time, the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom; he drove the Judaeans out of Elath, and theEdomites occupied it and have been there ever since.)	6 In quel tempo il re di Edom riconquistò Elat, la riunì a Edom e ne cacciò i Giudei. Gli Edomiti vennero a Elat e vi sono rimasti fino ad oggi.
7 Ahaz then sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria to say, 'I am your servant and your son.Come and rescue me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel who are making war on me.'	7 Acaz mandò dei messaggeri a Tiglat-Pilèzer, re di Assiria, a dirgli: "Io sono tuo servo e tuo figlio! 8 And Ahaz took what silver and gold was to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and sent this as a present to the king of Assyria.	8 Acaz prese l'argento e l'oro che si trovava nel tempio del Signore e nei tesori del palazzo reale e lo inviò in omaggio al re d'Assiria.
9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported itspopulation to Kir and put Razon to death.	9 Il re di Assiria gli prestò ascolto, salì contro Damasco e se ne impadronì; deportò gli abitanti a Kir e fece morire Rezin.
10 When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar whichwas in Damascus. King Ahaz then sent a picture and model of the altar, with details of its construction, to Uriahthe priest.	10 Il re Acaz andò a Damasco per incontrare Tiglat-Pilèzer, re di Assiria, e vide l'altare che si trovava a Damasco. 11 Uriah the priest constructed the altar; al the instructions sent by King Ahaz from Damascus werecarried out by Uriah the priest before King Ahaz returned from Damascus.	11 Il sacerdote Uria costruì l'altare, secondo tutto quello che il re Acaz gli aveva comunicato da Damasco; il sacerdote Uria fece così prima che il re Acaz tornasse da Damasco.

14 The altar which used to stand before Yahweh he removed from the front of the Temple, where it hadstood between the new altar and the Temple of Yahweh, and placed it at the north side of the new altar.	14 Quanto all'altare di bronzo che si trovava davanti al Signore, lo rimosse dal suo posto davanti al tempio, tra l'altare nuovo e il tempio del Signore, e lo collocò accanto al nuovo altare, a settentrione.
15 King Ahaz gave this order to Uriah the priest, 'In future you wil present the morning burnt offering, theevening oblation, the king's burnt offering and oblation, the burnt offering, the oblation and the libations of al thepeople of the country on the large altar; on it you will pour out al the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices.As regards the bronze altar, I shal see to that.'	15 Poi il re Acaz ordinò al sacerdote Uria: "Sull'altare grande brucerai l'olocausto del mattino e l'oblazione della sera, l'olocausto del re e la sua oblazione, l'olocausto di tutto il popolo della terra, le sue oblazioni e libagioni; vi spruzzerai tutto il sangue dell'olocausto e tutto il sangue di qualsiasi sacrificio; all'altare di bronzo penserò io stesso".
16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz had ordered.	16 Il sacerdote Uria fece tutto quello che il re Acaz aveva ordinato.
17 King Ahaz broke up the wheeled stands; removed the crosspieces and the basins from them, andtook the bronze Sea off the oxen supporting it, and rested it on the stone pavement.	17 Il re Acaz smontò le basi e tolse da esse i bacini, fece discendere il mare di bronzo dai buoi che vi stavano sotto e lo collocò sul selciato di pietre.
18 And from the Temple of Yahweh, in deference to the king of Assyria, he removed the dais for thethrone which had been built inside, and the royal entrance on the outside.	18 Per riguardo al re di Assiria soppresse dal tempio il palco del trono che avevano costruito nel tempio, e l'ingresso esterno del re.
19 The rest of the history of Ahaz, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	19 Le altre gesta di Acaz e tutto quello ch'egli fece non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?
20 Then Ahaz fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Hezekiahsucceeded him.	20 Acaz si addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu sepolto con loro nella Città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Ezechia.
