NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.	1 Akaz, fils de Yotam, roi de Juda, commença à régner en la dix-septième année de Pékah fils de Rémalyas.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.He did not do what Yahweh his God regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	2 Akaz avait 20 ans lorsqu’il monta sur le trône et il régna 16 ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui est juste au regard de Yahvé, son Dieu, comme son ancêtre David.
3 He followed the example of the kings of Israel, even causing his son to pass through the fire ofsacrifice, also copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	3 Il suivit les traces des rois d’Israël, et même il sacrifia son fils par le feu, selon les pratiques odieuses des peuplades que Yahvé avait dépossédées devant les Israélites.
4 He offered sacrifices and incense on the high places, on the hil s and under every luxuriant tree.	4 Il offrit des sacrifices et fit fumer l’encens sur les Hauts-Lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.
5 Then it was that Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, launched theircampaign against Jerusalem. They besieged it but could not reduce it.	5 Alors Razone, roi d’Aram, et Pékah, fils de Rémalyas, roi d’Israël, montèrent vers Jérusalem pour l’attaquer. Ils assiégèrent Akaz, mais ils ne purent l’abattre.
6 (At that time, the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom; he drove the Judaeans out of Elath, and theEdomites occupied it and have been there ever since.)	6 En ce temps-là le roi d’Édom récupéra Élat et expulsa les Judéens qui y étaient installés; les Édomites en prirent possession et y restèrent jusqu’à ce jour.
7 Ahaz then sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria to say, 'I am your servant and your son.Come and rescue me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel who are making war on me.'	7 Akaz envoya des messagers à Téglat-Phalasar, roi d’Assyrie: “Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils, lui dit-il, viens me délivrer du roi d’Aram et du roi d’Israël qui sont venus m’attaquer.”
8 And Ahaz took what silver and gold was to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and sent this as a present to the king of Assyria.	8 Akaz prit l’argent et l’or qui se trouvaient dans la Maison de Yahvé et dans le trésor du palais royal, et il en fit don au roi d’Assyrie.
9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported itspopulation to Kir and put Razon to death.	9 Le roi d’Assyrie l’écouta: il alla attaquer Damas et s’en empara, il en déporta les habitants à Kir et il fit exécuter Razone.
10 When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar whichwas in Damascus. King Ahaz then sent a picture and model of the altar, with details of its construction, to Uriahthe priest.	10 Lorsque le roi Akaz alla à Damas pour y rencontrer Téglat-Phalasar, roi d’Assyrie, il vit l’autel qui était à Damas; il envoya l’image de cet autel et son plan, avec tous ses détails, au prêtre Ouriya.
11 Uriah the priest constructed the altar; al the instructions sent by King Ahaz from Damascus werecarried out by Uriah the priest before King Ahaz returned from Damascus.	11 Avant même que le roi Akaz ne revienne de Damas, le prêtre Ouriya construisit un autel exactement conforme aux données que le roi Akaz lui envoyait.
12 When the king arrived from Damascus, he inspected the altar, he approached it and ascended it.	12 Lorsque le roi vit l’autel à son retour de Damas, il monta lui-même à l’autel pour y sacrifier.
13 And on the altar he made his burnt offering and his oblation; he poured out his libation and sprinkledthe blood of his communion sacrifices.	13 Il fit fumer son holocauste et son offrande, il versa une libation et aspergea l’autel avec le sang des sacrifices pacifiques.
14 The altar which used to stand before Yahweh he removed from the front of the Temple, where it hadstood between the new altar and the Temple of Yahweh, and placed it at the north side of the new altar.	14 On déplaça l’autel de bronze qui était devant Yahvé, on le retira de devant la Maison où il se trouvait maintenant entre le nouvel autel et la Maison de Yahvé; on le mit sur le côté du nouvel autel vers le nord.
15 King Ahaz gave this order to Uriah the priest, 'In future you wil present the morning burnt offering, theevening oblation, the king's burnt offering and oblation, the burnt offering, the oblation and the libations of al thepeople of the country on the large altar; on it you will pour out al the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices.As regards the bronze altar, I shal see to that.'	15 Le roi Akaz donna cet ordre au prêtre Ouriya: “Tu feras fumer l’holocauste du matin et l’offrande du soir, l’holocauste du roi et son offrande, l’holocauste pour tout le peuple-du-pays, son offrande et ses libations, sur ce grand autel. Tu feras là l’aspersion du sang pour tous les holocaustes et les sacrifices. Quant à l’autel de bronze, je verrai quoi en faire.”
16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz had ordered.	16 Le prêtre Ouriya fit tout ce que lui avait commandé le roi Akaz.
17 King Ahaz broke up the wheeled stands; removed the crosspieces and the basins from them, andtook the bronze Sea off the oxen supporting it, and rested it on the stone pavement.	17 Le roi Akaz brisa les panneaux et les bases, il ôta les bassins qui étaient dessus, il fit descendre la Mer de bronze de dessus les bœufs qui la portaient et la posa sur un dallage de pierres.
18 And from the Temple of Yahweh, in deference to the king of Assyria, he removed the dais for thethrone which had been built inside, and the royal entrance on the outside.	18 Par égard pour le roi d’Assyrie, il transforma le Portique du Sabbat que l’on avait construit à l’intérieur et l’Entrée du Roi qui se trouvait à l’extérieur du Temple de Yahvé.
19 The rest of the history of Ahaz, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	19 Le reste des actes d’Akaz, ce qu’il a fait, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
20 Then Ahaz fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Hezekiahsucceeded him.	20 Akaz se coucha avec ses pères et on l’enterra avec ses pères dans la Cité de David; Ézékias, son fils, régna à sa place.
