2 Kings 16

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.	1 En la dix-septième année de Péqah fils de Remalyahu, Achaz fils de Yotam devint roi de Juda.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.He did not do what Yahweh his God regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	2 Achaz avait vingt ans à son avènement et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui estagréable à Yahvé, son Dieu, comme avait fait David son ancêtre.
3 He followed the example of the kings of Israel, even causing his son to pass through the fire ofsacrifice, also copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	3 Il imita la conduite des rois d'Israël, et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, selon les coutumesabominables des nations que Yahvé avait chassées devant les Israélites.
4 He offered sacrifices and incense on the high places, on the hil s and under every luxuriant tree.	4 Il offrit des sacrifices et de l'encens sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre verdoyant.
5 Then it was that Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, launched theircampaign against Jerusalem. They besieged it but could not reduce it.	5 C'est alors que Raçôn, roi d'Aram, et Péqah fils de Remalyahu, roi d'Israël, partirent en guerrecontre Jérusalem, ils l'assiégèrent mais ils ne purent pas la réduire.
6 (At that time, the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom; he drove the Judaeans out of Elath, and theEdomites occupied it and have been there ever since.)	6 (En ce temps-là, le roi d'Edom recouvra Elat pour Edom; il expulsa les Judéens d'Elat, les Edomitesy entrèrent et ils y sont restés jusqu'à ce jour.)
7 Ahaz then sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria to say, 'I am your servant and your son.Come and rescue me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel who are making war on me.'	7 Alors Achaz envoya des messagers à Téglat-Phalasar, roi d'Assyrie, pour lui dire: "Je suis tonserviteur et ton fils! Viens me délivrer des mains du roi d'Aram et du roi d'Israël, qui se sont levés contre moi."
8 And Ahaz took what silver and gold was to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and sent this as a present to the king of Assyria.	8 Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qu'on trouva dans le Temple de Yahvé et dans les trésors du palais royal etenvoya le tout en présent au roi d'Assyrie.
9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported itspopulation to Kir and put Razon to death.	9 Le roi d'Assyrie l'exauça, il monta contre Damas et s'en empara; il déporta les habitants à Qir et fitmourir Raçôn.
10 When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar whichwas in Damascus. King Ahaz then sent a picture and model of the altar, with details of its construction, to Uriahthe priest.	10 Le roi Achaz alla à Damas pour rencontrer Téglat-Phalasar, roi d'Assyrie, et il vit l'autel qui était àDamas. Alors le roi Achaz envoya au prêtre Uriyya l'image de l'autel et son modèle, avec le détail de sastructure.
11 Uriah the priest constructed the altar; al the instructions sent by King Ahaz from Damascus werecarried out by Uriah the priest before King Ahaz returned from Damascus.	11 Le prêtre Uriyya construisit l'autel; toutes les instructions que le roi Achaz avait envoyées deDamas, le prêtre Uriyya les exécuta avant que le roi Achaz revînt de Damas.
12 When the king arrived from Damascus, he inspected the altar, he approached it and ascended it.	12 Lorsque le roi Achaz arriva de Damas, il vit l'autel, il s'en approcha et il y monta.
13 And on the altar he made his burnt offering and his oblation; he poured out his libation and sprinkledthe blood of his communion sacrifices.	13 Il fit fumer sur l'autel son holocauste et ses oblations, versa sa libation et répandit le sang de sessacrifices de communion.
14 The altar which used to stand before Yahweh he removed from the front of the Temple, where it hadstood between the new altar and the Temple of Yahweh, and placed it at the north side of the new altar.	14 Quant à l'autel qui était devant Yahvé, il le déplaça de devant le Temple, où il était entre le nouvelautel et le Temple de Yahvé, et le mit à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord.
15 King Ahaz gave this order to Uriah the priest, 'In future you wil present the morning burnt offering, theevening oblation, the king's burnt offering and oblation, the burnt offering, the oblation and the libations of al thepeople of the country on the large altar; on it you will pour out al the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices.As regards the bronze altar, I shal see to that.'	15 Le roi Achaz fit ce commandement au prêtre Uriyya: "C'est sur le grand autel que tu feras fumerl'holocauste du matin et l'oblation du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son oblation, l'holocauste, l'oblation et leslibations de tout le peuple; tu répandras sur lui tout le sang des holocaustes et des sacrifices. Pour ce quiconcerne l'autel de bronze, je vais m'en occuper."
16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz had ordered.	16 Le prêtre Uriyya fit tout ce que lui avait ordonné le roi Achaz.
17 King Ahaz broke up the wheeled stands; removed the crosspieces and the basins from them, andtook the bronze Sea off the oxen supporting it, and rested it on the stone pavement.	17 Le roi Achaz mit en pièces les bases roulantes, il en détacha les traverses et les bassins, il descenditla Mer de bronze de dessus les boeufs qui la supportaient et la posa sur le pavé de pierres.
18 And from the Temple of Yahweh, in deference to the king of Assyria, he removed the dais for thethrone which had been built inside, and the royal entrance on the outside.	18 En considération du roi d'Assyrie, il supprima du Temple de Yahvé l'estrade du trône, qu'on y avaitconstruite, et l'entrée extérieure du roi.
19 The rest of the history of Ahaz, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	19 Le reste de l'histoire d'Achaz, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?
20 Then Ahaz fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Hezekiahsucceeded him.	20 Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, on l'enterra dans la Cité de David et son fils Ezéchias régna à saplace.
