2 Kings 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.	1 El decimoséptimo año de Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, inició su reinado Ajaz, hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.He did not do what Yahweh his God regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	2 Ajaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. El no hizo lo que es recto a los ojos del Señor, su Dios, a diferencia de su padre David.
3 He followed the example of the kings of Israel, even causing his son to pass through the fire ofsacrifice, also copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.	3 Siguió el camino de los reyes de Israel; incluso inmoló a su hijo en el fuego, según las costumbres abominables de las naciones que el Señor había desposeído delante de los israelitas.
4 He offered sacrifices and incense on the high places, on the hil s and under every luxuriant tree.	4 Ofreció sacrificios y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, sobre las colinas y bajo todo árbol frondoso.
5 Then it was that Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, launched theircampaign against Jerusalem. They besieged it but could not reduce it.	5 Entonces Resín, rey de Aram, y Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron a combatir contra Jerusalén. Asediaron a Ajaz, pero no pudieron entrar en combate.
6 (At that time, the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom; he drove the Judaeans out of Elath, and theEdomites occupied it and have been there ever since.)	6 Fue en aquel tiempo cuando Resín, rey de Aram, recuperó a Elat para Aram. 7 Ahaz then sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria to say, 'I am your servant and your son.Come and rescue me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel who are making war on me.'	7 Ajaz envió mensajeros a Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria, para decirle: «Soy tu servidor y tu hijo; sube a salvarme del poder del rey de Aram y del rey de Israel, que se han levantado contra mí».
8 And Ahaz took what silver and gold was to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and sent this as a present to the king of Assyria.	8 Ajaz tomó la plata y el oro que había en la Casa del Señor y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los envió como presente al rey de Asiria.
9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported itspopulation to Kir and put Razon to death.	9 El rey de Asiria accedió al pedido: subió contra Damasco y la conquistó, deportó a sus habitantes a Quir y dio muerte a Resín.
10 When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar whichwas in Damascus. King Ahaz then sent a picture and model of the altar, with details of its construction, to Uriahthe priest.	10 El rey Ajaz fue a Damasco, al encuentro de Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria, y vio el altar que había en Damasco. Entonces envió al sacerdote Urías el modelo y el diseño del altar, con todos sus detalles.
11 Uriah the priest constructed the altar; al the instructions sent by King Ahaz from Damascus werecarried out by Uriah the priest before King Ahaz returned from Damascus.	11 El sacerdote Urías construyó el altar: lo hizo de acuerdo con todas las indicaciones que el rey Ajaz envió desde Damasco, antes de que llegara de allí.
12 When the king arrived from Damascus, he inspected the altar, he approached it and ascended it.	12 Cuando llegó a Damasco, el rey observó el altar. Después se acercó y subió hasta él,
13 And on the altar he made his burnt offering and his oblation; he poured out his libation and sprinkledthe blood of his communion sacrifices.	13 hizo arder su holocausto y su oblación, derramó su libación y roció el altar con la sangre de sus sacrificios de comunión.
14 The altar which used to stand before Yahweh he removed from the front of the Temple, where it hadstood between the new altar and the Temple of Yahweh, and placed it at the north side of the new altar.	14 En cuanto al altar de bronce que estaba delante del Señor, lo retiró del frente de la Casa, del lugar que ocupaba entre el y la Casa del Señor, y lo puso al lado del nuevo altar, hacia el norte.
15 King Ahaz gave this order to Uriah the priest, 'In future you wil present the morning burnt offering, theevening oblation, the king's burnt offering and oblation, the burnt offering, the oblation and the libations of al thepeople of the country on the large altar; on it you will pour out al the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices.As regards the bronze altar, I shal see to that.'	15 Luego el rey Ajaz dio esta orden al sacerdote Urías: «Sobre el altar grande harás arder el holocausto de la mañana y la oblación de la tarde, el holocausto del rey y su oblación, el holocausto de todo el pueblo del país, su oblación y sus libaciones; también lo rociarás con toda la sangre de los sacrificios. Del altar de bronce, me ocuparé yo».
16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz had ordered.	16 El sacerdote Urías hizo todo lo que le había ordenado el rey Ajaz.
17 King Ahaz broke up the wheeled stands; removed the crosspieces and the basins from them, andtook the bronze Sea off the oxen supporting it, and rested it on the stone pavement.	17 Este desarmó los paneles de las bases y retiró de encima de ellas los recipientes para el agua; hizo bajar el Mar de bronce de encima de los bueyes que lo sostenían y lo puso sobre un pavimento de piedras.
18 And from the Temple of Yahweh, in deference to the king of Assyria, he removed the dais for thethrone which had been built inside, and the royal entrance on the outside.	18 Por deferencia al rey de Asiria, suprimió en la Casa del Señor el pórtico del Sábado, que se había construido en el interior, y la entrada exterior reservada al rey.
19 The rest of the history of Ahaz, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?	19 El resto de los hechos de Ajaz, todo lo que él hizo, ¿No está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Judá?
20 Then Ahaz fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Hezekiahsucceeded him.	20 Ajaz se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Ezequías reinó en lugar de él.
