1 Solomon then summoned the elders of Israel to Jerusalem to bring the ark of the covenant of Yahwehup from the City of David, that is, Zion.	1 Тоді Соломон скликав до себе в Єрусалим усіх старших Ізраїля, усіх голів над колінами і князів ізраїльських родин, щоб перенести кивот Господнього союзу з Давидгороду, тобто з Сіону.
2 Al the men of Israel assembled round King Solomon in the month of Ethanim, at the time of the feast(that is, the seventh month).	2 Усі ізраїльські мужі зібрались до Соломона на свято в місяці Етанім, що був сьомий місяць.
3 When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the priests took up the ark	3 Як же прибули старші Ізраїля, священики взяли кивот,
4 and the Tent of Meeting and all the sacred utensils which were in the Tent.	4 і понесли кивот Господній і намет зборів з усім святим посудом, що був у наметі. Священики й левіти несли їх.
5 King Solomon and al Israel, present with him before the ark, sacrificed countless, innumerable sheepand oxen.	5 Цар же Соломон і вся ізраїльська громада, що зібралась коло нього перед кивотом, жертвували з ним волів і овець, — стільки, що їм не було ні числа, ні ліку.
6 The priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, in the Debir of the Temple, that is, inthe Holy of Holies, under the wings of the winged creatures	6 Священики внесли кивот Господнього завіту на його місце, в дебір храму, у всесвяте, під крила херувимів,
7 for the winged creatures spread their wings over the place where the ark stood, forming a canopy overthe ark and its shafts.	7 бо херувими простягали крила над місцем кивота і покривали зверху кивот та його носила.
8 These were so long, however, that the ends of the shafts could be seen from the Holy Place in front ofthe Debir, though they could not be seen from outside. They are stil there today.	8 А носила були такі довгі, що їх кінці можна було бачити з святині перед всесвятим, але знадвору не було їх видко. Вони там зостаються по цей день.
9 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Moses had placed in it at Horeb, thetablets of the covenant which Yahweh made with the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.	9 В ковчезі не було нічого, крім двох кам’яних таблиць, що там поклав Мойсей на Хориві, коли уклав був Господь союз із синами Ізраїля по виході їх з Єгипетської землі.
10 Now when the priests came out of the Holy Place, the cloud fil ed the Temple of Yahweh,	10 Як же священики вийшли з святині, сповнила хмара храм Господній,
11 and because of the cloud the priests could not stay and perform their duties. For the glory of Yahwehfilled the Temple of Yahweh.	11 так що священики через хмару не могли там стояти й служити службу; слава бо Господня сповнила храм Господній.
12 Then Solomon said: Yahweh has chosen to dwel in thick cloud.	12 Тоді Соломон промовив: («Господь установив на небі сонце), а сам захотів у мряці пробувати.
13 I have built you a princely dwel ing, a residence for you for ever.	13 Тим я й спорудив тобі дім на мешкання, місце, де ти повіки будеш жити.»
14 The king then turned round and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while the whole assembly ofIsrael stood.	14 І обернувся цар лицем, і поблагословив усю ізраїльську громаду, під час коли ізраїльська громада стояла,
15 He said, 'Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who has carried out by his hand what he promised withhis mouth to my father David, when he said,	15 і сказав: «Благословен Господь, Бог Ізраїля, що виконав власною рукою те, що обіцяв був своїми устами моєму батькові Давидові, коли сказав був:
16 "From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt I chose no city, in any of the tribes of Israel, tohave a temple built where my name should be; but I did choose David to rule my people Israel."	16 З того часу, як вивів я народ мій, Ізраїля, з Єгипту, не вибрав я міста ні в одному з колін Ізраїля, щоб мені збудовано дім, де перебувало б моє ім’я, а вибрав Єрусалим, щоб там перебувало моє ім’я, і вибрав Давида, щоб він був над моїм народом Ізраїлем.
17 My father David had set his heart on building a temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,	17 Вже в мого батька Давида було на думці збудувати храм імені Господа, Бога Ізраїля,
18 but Yahweh said to my father David, "You have set your heart on building a temple for my name, andin this you have done wel ;	18 та Господь сказав моєму батькові Давидові: Що ти задумав збудувати дім моєму імені, це добра в тебе думка,
19 and yet, you are not the man to build the temple; but your son, yet to be born to you, wil be the one tobuild the temple for my name."	19 тільки ж не тобі будувати мені дім, а твоєму синові, що вийде з твого лона, — той збудує храм імені моєму, —
20 Yahweh has kept the promise which he made: I have succeeded my father David and am seated onthe throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised; I have built the temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,	20 Господь справдив своє слово що сказав був: я бо вступив на місце Давида, мого батька, і сів на престолі Ізраїля, як сказав Господь, і збудував храм імені Господа, Бога Ізраїля,
21 and in it I have made a place for the ark containing the covenant of Yahweh which he made with ourancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.'	21 і приладив місце на кивот, в якім є (свідоцтво) союзу Господнього, що він, Господь, уклав з нашими батьками, як вивів їх з Єгипетської землі.»
22 Then, in the presence of the whole assembly of Israel, Solomon stood facing the altar of Yahweh and,stretching out his hands towards heaven,	22 Став Соломон перед Господнім жертовником, перед усією громадою Ізраїля, зняв руки до неба
23 said, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth beneath, as loyal tothe covenant and faithful in love to your servants as long as they walk wholeheartedly in your way.	23 і промовив: «Господи, Боже Ізраїля! Нема Бога, що був би тобі рівня, ні на небі вгорі, ні на землі внизу. Ти бережеш завіт і милость слугам твоїм, що ходять перед тобою усім серцем.
24 You have kept the promise you made to your servant, my father David, as you promised him youwould. Today you have carried it out by your power.	24 Ти додержав слузі твоєму Давидові, моєму батькові, те, що обіцяв йому і що устами твоїми промовив, — те сьогодні справдив рукою твоєю,
25 And now, Yahweh, God of Israel, keep the promise which you made to your servant David when yousaid, "You wil never lack for a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, provided that your sons are carefulhow they behave, walking before me as you yourself have done."	25 Тепер же, Господи, Боже Ізраїля, дотримай слузі твоєму Давидові, моєму батькові, те, що обіцяв йому словами: Не переведеться у тебе передо мною той, що сидітиме на престолі Ізраїля, як тільки сини твої вважатимуть на свої вчинки та ходитимуть передо мною, як ти ходив передо мною.
26 So now, God of Israel, let the words come true which you spoke to your servant, my father David.	26 Отже тепер, Боже Ізраїля, нехай справдиться, прошу, твоя обіцянка, що ти дав слузі твоєму Давидові, моєму батькові!
27 Yet wil God real y live with human beings on earth? Why, the heavens, the highest of the heavens,cannot contain you. How much less this temple built by me!	27 Чи ж Богові бо справді жити на землі? Таже ж небо і небо небес не можуть тебе вмістити! А що вже цей храм, що я збудував тобі!
28 Even so, listen favourably to the prayer and entreaty of your servant, Yahweh my God; listen to the cryand to the prayer which your servant makes to you today:	28 Однак зглянься, Господи, мій Боже, на молитву й на благання слуги твого й вислухай взивання та мольбу, якими слуга твій оце сьогодні тебе молить.
29 day and night may your eyes watch over this temple, over this place of which you have said, "My namewil be there." Listen to the prayer which your servant offers in this place.	29 Нехай очі твої споглядають уночі й удень на храм цей, на місце, про яке ти сказав: Ім’я моє буде там! — Вислухай молитву, якою слуга твій молитиметься на цьому місці!
30 'Listen to the entreaty of your servant and of your people Israel; whenever they pray in this place, listenfrom the place where you reside in heaven; and when you hear, forgive.	30 Вислухай, благання слуги твого і народу твого, Ізраїля, коли вони будуть молитися на цьому місці. Вислухай з місця, де ти перебуваєш, з неба; вислухай і прости.
31 'If someone has wronged his neighbour and a curse is laid on him to make him swear an oath herebefore your altar in this Temple,	31 Коли хтось провиниться перед своїм ближнім, і той візьме на себе клятву, щоб спонукати й другого поклястися і він прийде, щоб поклястися перед твоїм жертовником у цім храмі,
32 then listen from the place where you reside in heaven and do justice between your servants:condemning the guilty one by making him suffer for his conduct, and acquitting the upright by rewarding him ashis uprightness deserves.	32 то ти вислухай з неба і вчини суд над слугами твоїми: осуди винного, обернувши його переступ на його ж голову, а безвинного виправдай, воздавши йому за його правдою.
33 'When your people Israel are defeated by the enemy because they have sinned against you, but thenreturn to you and acknowledge your name, and pray and seek your favours in this Temple,	33 Коли твій народ Ізраїль буде розгромлений ворогом за гріхи перед тобою і повернеться до тебе та й стане хвалити ім’я твоє, та молитися й тебе благати в цьому домі,
34 then listen from the place where you reside in heaven; forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bringthem back to the country which you gave to their ancestors.	34 то ти вислухай з неба і прости гріхи твого народу Ізраїля, і приведи їх назад у землю, що ти дав батькам їхнім.
35 'When the heavens are shut and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray inthis place and praise your name and, having been humbled by you, desist from their sin,	35 Коли небо буде замкнене і не буде дощу за те, що согрішили проти тебе, і коли будуть молитись на цьому місці і хвалити твоє ім’я і каятись у своїх гріхах, бо ти їх упокорив,
36 then listen from the place where you reside in heaven and forgive the sin of your servant and yourpeople Israel -- for you are constantly showing them the good way which they must fol ow -- and send rain onyour country, which you have given to your people as their heritage.	36 то ти вислухай з неба і прости гріхи слуг твоїх і народу твого, Ізраїля. Вкажи їм добру путь, щоб нею простували, і пошли дощ на твою землю, що її дав ти твоєму народові у спадщину.
37 'Should there be famine in the country, or pestilence, wind-blast or mildew, locust or caterpil ar; shouldtheir enemy lay siege to one of their gates; should there be any plague or any disease:	37 Коли настане голод на землі або чума, або посуха, або іржа, або сарана, або черва, коли ворог тіснитиме його у власних воротях у його краї, або буде якась біда чи якась хвороба, —
38 whatever be the prayer or entreaty of any individual aware of a particular affliction: when that personstretches out the hands towards this Temple,	38 всяку молитву, всяке благання чи то окремої людини, а чи всього народу твого, Ізраїля, коли хтось із них почує біль у серці і простягне руки свої до цього храму, —
39 then listen from heaven where you reside; forgive and, since you know what is in the heart, deal witheach as their conduct deserves -- for you alone know what is in every human heart-	39 то ти вислухай з неба, з місця, де перебуваєш, і прости; вчини й відплати кожному за його заслугою, ти, що знаєш його серце, — ти бо єдиний знаєш серце всіх синів людських, —
40 so that they may reverence you throughout their lives in the country which you gave to our ancestors.	40 щоб вони боялись тебе по всі дні, покіль житимуть на землі, що ти дав батькам нашим.
41 'Even the foreigner, not belonging to your people Israel but coming from a distant country, attracted byyour name-	41 Навіть як і чужинець, що не з твого народу, Ізраїля, прийде з далекого краю задля імени твого, —
42 for they too wil hear of your name, of your mighty hand and outstretched arm -- if a foreigner comesand prays in this Temple,	42 бо чути буде скрізь про твоє велике ім’я, про твою руку потужну і про твоє простягнуте рам’я, — як він прийде та й стане молитись у цім храмі,
43 listen from heaven where you reside, and grant al that the foreigner asks of you, so that al the peoplesof the earth may acknowledge your name and, like your people Israel, revere you and know that this Temple,which I have built, bears your name.	43 то ти вислухай його з неба, з місця, де перебуваєш, і вчини все, чого чужинець проситиме у тебе, щоб усі народи на землі знали ім’я твоє та мали страх, як твій народ Ізраїль, та щоб зрозуміли, що твоє ім’я покоїться на цім храмі, що я збудував.
44 'If your people go out to war against the enemy, on whatever missions you send them, and they pray toYahweh, turning towards the city which you have chosen and towards the Temple which I have built for yourname,	44 Коли народ твій вийде на війну проти ворога свого шляхом, яким його пошлеш, і молитиметься Господеві, повернувшись до міста, що ти вибрав, і до храму, який я збудував для імени твого,
45 then listen from heaven to their prayer and their entreaty, and uphold their cause.	45 то вислухай з неба його молитву і його благання, і заступися за його правом.
46 'When they sin against you -- for there is no one who does not sin -- and you are angry with them andabandon them to the enemy, and their captors carry them off to a hostile country, be it far away or near,	46 Коли ж согрішать проти тебе, — нема бо чоловіка, що не грішив би, — і ти, розгнівавшись на них, видаси їх на поталу ворогові і той займе їх у полон та й відведе їх у ворожу землю, чи то далеко чи близько,
47 if they come to their senses in the country to which they have been taken as captives and repent andentreat you in the country of their captors, saying, "We have sinned, we have acted perversely and wickedly,"	47 і вони схаменуться в землі, куди їх зайнято в полон, і навернуться і будуть молитись до тебе у землі тих, що їх полонили, і говорити: Ми согрішили, ми вчинили несправедливо, ми робили зле! —
48 and turn back to you with al their heart and soul in the country of the enemies who have taken themcaptive, and pray to you, turning towards the country which you gave to their ancestors, towards the city whichyou have chosen and towards the Temple which I have built for your name,	48 і коли обернуться до тебе усім своїм серцем й усією душею своєю в ворожій землі, куди їх зайнято в полон, і молитимуться до тебе, звернувшись до землі, що ти дав батькам їхнім, до міста, що ти вибрав, і до храму, що я збудував для імени твого, —
49 listen to their prayer and their entreaty from the place where you reside in heaven, uphold their case,	49 то вислухай з неба, з місця, де перебуваєш, їхню молитву і їх благання, і вчини їм правду.
50 forgive your people for having sinned against you and for al the crimes against you of which they havebeen guilty, and allow them to arouse the pity of their captors so that these may have pity on them:	50 Прости тоді твоєму народові, що согрішив проти тебе, усі його провини проти тебе і нехай змилуються над ними ті, що зайняли їх у полон, і змилосердяться над ними,
51 for they are your people and your heritage whom you brought out of Egypt, that iron foundry!	51 бо вони — народ твій і твоя спадщина, що ти вивів з Єгипту, з залізної печі.
52 'May your eyes be open to the entreaty of your servant and the entreaty of your people Israel, to listento them, whatever they ask of you.	52 Нехай очі твої будуть відкриті на благання слуги твого і на благання народу твого, Ізраїля, щоб вислуховувати їх завжди, коли взиватимуть до тебе,
53 For you it was who set them apart from al the peoples of the earth to be your heritage, as you declaredthrough your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt, Lord Yahweh.'	53 бо ти їх виділив собі як спадкоємство з-між усіх народів на землі, як об’явив через слугу твого Мойсея, коли виводив, Владико Господи, батьків наших з Єгипту.»
54 When Solomon had finished offering to Yahweh this whole prayer and entreaty, he rose from where hewas kneeling with hands stretched out towards heaven before the altar of Yahweh,	54 Як скінчив Соломон усю цю молитву й це благання до Господа, встав з-перед Господнього жертовника, де стояв навколішках з простягнутими до неба руками,
55 and stood upright. And in a loud voice he blessed the whole assembly of Israel.	55 і, стоячи, поблагословив голосно всю громаду Ізраїля такими словами:
56 'Blessed be Yahweh,' he said, 'who has granted rest to his people Israel, keeping al his promises. Ofal the promises of good that he made through his servant Moses, not one has failed.	56 «Благословен Господь, що дав народові своєму Ізраїлю спокій, повнотою так, як обіцяв був. Ні одне слово не зосталось марним з усіх тих прекрасних обітниць, що дав через раба свого Мойсея.
57 May Yahweh our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he never desert us or cast us off.	57 Нехай же буде з нами Бог наш, як був і з нашими батьками. Нехай нас не покидає, нехай нас не відштовхує!
58 May he turn our hearts towards him so that we may fol ow al his ways and keep the commandmentsand laws and ordinances which he gave to our ancestors.	58 Нехай нахилить наші серця до себе, щоб ми ходили його путями та пильнували його заповіді, його установи та його закони, що заповідав батькам нашим.
59 May these words of mine, of my entreaty before Yahweh, be present with Yahweh our God day andnight, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of Israel his people, as each day requires,	59 Нехай ці слова, що я промовив у молитві перед Господом, будуть приявні вдень і вночі перед Господом, Богом нашим, щоб він день-у-день творив правду своєму слузі й своєму народові Ізраїлеві,
60 so that al the peoples of the earth may come to know that Yahweh is God indeed and that there is noother.	60 щоб усі народи на землі зрозуміли, що тільки Господь — Бог, і ніхто інший.
61 May your hearts be wholly with Yahweh our God, fol owing his laws and keeping his commandmentsas at this present day.'	61 Нехай наше серце буде суцільно віддане Господеві, Богу нашому, щоб ми ходили в його установах і пильнували його заповіді, як сьогодні.»
62 The king and al Israel with him offered sacrifice before Yahweh.	62 Після цього цар і ввесь Ізраїль принесли жертви перед Господом.
63 Solomon offered a communion sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twentythousand sheep to Yahweh; and thus the king and all the Israelites dedicated the Temple of Yahweh.	63 Соломон приніс у мирну жертву Господеві 22 000 волів і 120 000 овець. Так цар і ввесь Ізраїль посвятили храм Господній.
64 On the same day the king consecrated the middle part of the court in front of the Temple of Yahweh;for that was where he presented the burnt offerings, oblations and fatty parts of the communion sacrifices, since the bronze altar which stood before Yahweh was too smal to hold the burnt offering, oblation and the fatty partsof the communion sacrifice.	64 Того дня цар освятив середню частину двору перед храмом Господнім, бо там приніс він усепалення й офіри та жир мирних жертв, тому що мідяний жертовник, який стояв перед Господом, був надто малий, щоб умістити всепалення, офіри й тук мирних жертв.
65 And then Solomon and with him all Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Torrent of Egypt -- a greatassembly -- celebrated the feast before Yahweh our God for seven days.	65 І справив Соломон того часу свято, і ввесь Ізраїль з ним, — величезний збір, що зійшовся від входу Хамату аж до єгипетського потоку, перед Господом, Богом нашим, 7 день, (а потім ще 7 день — 14 разом).
66 On the eighth day he dismissed the people, who bade farewel to the king and went home joyful andhappy of heart over al the goodness which Yahweh had shown to his servant and his people Israel.	66 На восьмий же день він відпустив народ. Вони хвалили царя й розійшлися по хатах, веселі та раді серцем з-за всього добра, що Господь учинив своєму слузі Давидові й своєму народові Ізраїлеві.
