Genesis 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Now, the snake was the most subtle of al the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked thewoman, 'Did God real y say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?'	1 Ora il serpente era il più astuto di tutti gli animali della terra che il Signore Dio aveva fatti. Ed esso disse alla donna: « Perchè Dio vi ha comandato di non mangiare del frutto di tutte le piante del paradiso! »
2 The woman answered the snake, 'We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden.	2 E la donna gli rispose: « Del frutto delle piante che sono nel paradiso ne mangiamo;
3 But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, underpain of death." '	3 ma del frutto dell'albero che è nel mezzo del paradiso Dio ci ordinò di non mangiarne, e di non toccarlo, chè forse non s'abbia a morire ».
4 Then the snake said to the woman, 'No! You will not die!	4 Ma il Serpente disse alla donna: « No, voi non morrete.
5 God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes wil be opened and you wil be like gods, knowinggood from evil.'	5 Anzi Dio sa bene che, in qualunque giorno ne mangerete, si apriranno i vostri occhi, e sarete come Dei, avendo la conoscenza del bene e del male ».
6 The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for thewisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who waswith her, and he ate it.	6 Or la donna, vedendo che il frutto dell'albero era buono a mangiarsi e bello all'occhio e gradevole all'aspetto, lo colse e ne mangiò e ne diede al suo marito, che ne mangiò.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig-leaves together to make themselves loin-cloths.	7 Allora si apersero gli occhi ad ambedue, ed essendosi accorti d'esser nudi, cucirono delle foglie di fico e se ne fecero delle cinture.
8 The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, andthey hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.	8 Ed avendo udita la voce del Signore Dio che passeggiava nel paradiso al fresco della sera, Adamo con la sua moglie si nascose dal cospetto del Signore Dio in mezzo agli alberi del paradiso.
9 But Yahweh God called to the man. 'Where are you?' he asked.	9 E il Signore Dio chiamò Adamo e gli disse: « Dove sei! »
10 'I heard the sound of you in the garden,' he replied. 'I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.'	10 Ed egli rispose: « Ho sentita nel paradiso la tua voce, ed avendo paura, perchè nudo, mi son nascosto ».
11 'Who told you that you were naked?' he asked. 'Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you toeat?'	11 Dio gli disse: « Chi ti ha fatto conoscere d'esser nudo, se non l'aver mangiato il frutto del quale io ti aveva comandato di non mangiare? »
12 The man replied, 'It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ateit.'	12 Adamo rispose: « La donna che mi desti per compagna mi ha dato il frutto, ed io ne ho mangiato ».
13 Then Yahweh God said to the woman, 'Why did you do that?' The woman replied, 'The snake temptedme and I ate.'	13 E il Signore Dio disse alla donna: « Perchè hai fatto questo? » Ed essa rispose: « Il serpente mi ha sedotta, ed io ne ho mangiato ».
14 Then Yahweh God said to the snake, 'Because you have done this, Accursed be you of al animalswild and tame! On your bel y you wil go and on dust you will feed as long as you live.	14 Allora il Signore Dio disse al serpente: « Perchè hai fatto questo, sei maledetto fra tutti gli animali e le bestie della terra, tu striscerai sul tuo ventre e mangerai terra tutti i giorni della tua vita.
15 I shal put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; it wil bruiseyour head and you wil strike its heel.'	15 Ed io porrò inimicizia fra te e la donna, fra la tua progenie e la progenie di lei; essa ti schiaccerà la testa e tu la insidierai al calcagno ».
16 To the woman he said: I shal give you intense pain in childbearing, you will give birth to your childrenin pain. Your yearning wil be for your husband, and he wil dominate you.	16 E alla donna disse: « Io moltiplicherò i tuoi affanni e le tue gravidanze: con dolore partorirai i tuoi figlioli, sarai sotto la potestà del marito, ed egli ti dominerà ».
17 To the man he said, 'Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which Ihad forbidden you to eat, Accursed be the soil because of you! Painful y will you get your food from it as long asyou live.	17 Ad Adamo poi disse: « Perchè hai dato ascolto alla voce della tua moglie, ed hai mangiato del frutto del quale io t'aveva comandato di non mangiare, la terra e maledetta per causa tua, con fatiche ne trarrai il nutrimento per tutti i giorni della tua vita.
18 It wil yield you brambles and thistles, as you eat the produce of the land.	18 Essa ti produrrà triboli e spine, e tu mungerai l'erba dei campi.
19 By the sweat of your face will you earn your food, until you return to the ground, as you were takenfrom it. For dust you are and to dust you shall return.'	19 Col sudore della tua fronte mangerai il pane, finché non ritornerai nella terra dalla quale fosti tratto; perchè tu sei polvere, ed in polvere ritornerai ».
20 The man named his wife 'Eve' because she was the mother of all those who live.	20 Allora Adamo pose alla sua moglie il nome di Eva, essendo essa la madre di tutti i viventi.
21 Yahweh God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them.	21 E il Signore Dio fece ad Adamo e alla sua moglie delle tuniche di pelle, e li vestì.
22 Then Yahweh God said, 'Now that the man has become like one of us in knowing good from evil, hemust not be al owed to reach out his hand and pick from the tree of life too, and eat and live for ever!'	22 Poi disse: « Ecco, Adamo è diventato come uno di noi, conoscendo il bene e il male! Badiamo ora che non stenda la mano e prenda anche dell'albero della vita, ne mangi e viva in eterno ».
23 So Yahweh God expelled him from the garden of Eden, to til the soil from which he had been taken.	23 Quindi il Signore Dio lo mandò via dal paradiso di delizie, affinchè coltivasse la terra da cui era stato tratto.
24 He banished the man, and in front of the garden of Eden he posted the great winged creatures andthe fiery flashing sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.	24 E, cacciato Adamo, pose dei Cherubini davanti al paradiso di delizie, affinchè, roteando intorno la spada fiammeggiante, custodissero la via dell'albero della vita.
