Genesis 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Now, the snake was the most subtle of al the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked thewoman, 'Did God real y say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?'	1 - Ma il serpente era il più astuto fra tutti gli animali che il Signore Dio aveva creati sulla terra. Il quale disse alla donna: «Per qual motivo Iddio v'ha comandato di non gustare di qualsivoglia albero del paradiso?».
2 The woman answered the snake, 'We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden.	2 Cui la donna rispose: «Del frutto degli alberi che sono nel paradiso, ne mangiamo;
3 But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, underpain of death." '	3 ma del frutto dell'albero che è in mezzo al paradiso, Iddio ci ha comandato di non mangiarne e di non toccarlo, che non abbiamo a morirne».
4 Then the snake said to the woman, 'No! You will not die!	4 Ma il serpente disse alla donna: «No davvero, che non morirete.
5 God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes wil be opened and you wil be like gods, knowinggood from evil.'	5 Dio però sa che, in qualunque giorno ne mangerete, vi s'apriranno gli occhi, e sarete come dèi, sapendo il bene ed il male».
6 The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for thewisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who waswith her, and he ate it.	6 Vide dunque la donna che l'albero era buono a mangiarsi, bello agli occhi, e dilettoso all'aspetto; prese del suo frutto, ne mangiò, e ne dette al marito che ne mangiò.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig-leaves together to make themselves loin-cloths.	7 E s'aprirono gli occhi ad ambedue. Ed avendo conosciuto d'esser nudi, intrecciarono delle foglie di fico, e se ne fecero delle cinture.
8 The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, andthey hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.	8 Ed avendo udito la voce del Signore Dio che passeggiava nel paradiso all'aura vespertina, si nascosero, Adamo e la moglie sua, dalla faccia del Signore Dio in mezzo agli alberi del paradiso.
9 But Yahweh God called to the man. 'Where are you?' he asked.	9 Il Signore Dio chiamò Adamo, e gli disse: «Dove sei?».
10 'I heard the sound of you in the garden,' he replied. 'I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.'	10 Il quale rispose: «Ho udito la tua voce nel paradiso; ho avuto paura, essendo nudo, e mi son nascosto».
11 'Who told you that you were naked?' he asked. 'Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you toeat?'	11 A cui disse: «E chi t'ha fatto conoscere d'esser nudo, se non che hai mangiato dell'albero del quale t'avevo comandato di non mangiare?».
12 The man replied, 'It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ateit.'	12 Rispose Adamo: «La donna che mi desti a compagna, m'ha dato di quel frutto, e ne ho mangiato».
13 Then Yahweh God said to the woman, 'Why did you do that?' The woman replied, 'The snake temptedme and I ate.'	13 Disse il Signore Dio alla donna: «Perché hai fatto ciò?». La quale rispose: «Il serpente m'ha ingannata, ed ho mangiato».
14 Then Yahweh God said to the snake, 'Because you have done this, Accursed be you of al animalswild and tame! On your bel y you wil go and on dust you will feed as long as you live.	14 Allora disse il Signore Dio al serpente: «Poichè hai fatto questo, sarai maledetto fra tutti gli animali e bestie della terra; striscerai sul tuo ventre, e mangerai terra in tutti i giorni della tua vita».
15 I shal put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; it wil bruiseyour head and you wil strike its heel.'	15 Porrò inimicizia fra te e la donna, fra la stirpe tua e la stirpe di lei; essa ti schiaccerà il capo, e tu insidierai il suo calcagno».
16 To the woman he said: I shal give you intense pain in childbearing, you will give birth to your childrenin pain. Your yearning wil be for your husband, and he wil dominate you.	16 Disse ancora alla donna: «Moltiplicherò i tuoi travagli ed i tuoi parti; partorirai tra i dolori i tuoi figli; sarai sotto la potestà del marito, ed egli ti dominerà».
17 To the man he said, 'Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which Ihad forbidden you to eat, Accursed be the soil because of you! Painful y will you get your food from it as long asyou live.	17 Disse poi ad Adamo: «Poichè hai ascoltata la voce della tua donna, ed hai mangiato del frutto del quale t'avevo comandato di non mangiare, maledetta la terra del tuo lavoro; tra le fatiche ne ricaverai il nutrimento in tutt'i giorni della tua vita;
18 It wil yield you brambles and thistles, as you eat the produce of the land.	18 ti germoglierà triboli e spine, e mangerai l'erba della terra.
19 By the sweat of your face will you earn your food, until you return to the ground, as you were takenfrom it. For dust you are and to dust you shall return.'	19 Col sudore della fronte ti procaccerai il pane, sinchè tu ritorni alla terra dalla quale sei stato cavato; perchè polvere sei, ed in polvere tornerai».
20 The man named his wife 'Eve' because she was the mother of all those who live.	20 E Adamo mise alla moglie sua il nome di Eva, essendo ella la madre di tutti i viventi.
21 Yahweh God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them.	21 Fece anche il Signore Dio ad Adamo ed alla sua moglie vesti di pelli, e ne li ricoprì;
22 Then Yahweh God said, 'Now that the man has become like one of us in knowing good from evil, hemust not be al owed to reach out his hand and pick from the tree of life too, and eat and live for ever!'	22 poi disse: «Ecco, Adamo è divenuto quasi uno di noi, e conosce il bene ed il male; ch'ei non abbia a stender la mano, e prendere anche dall'albero della vita, e mangiare, e vivere in eterno!».
23 So Yahweh God expelled him from the garden of Eden, to til the soil from which he had been taken.	23 Ed il Signore Dio lo mandò fuori dal paradiso di delizia, acciò lavorasse la terra dalla quale fu cavato.
24 He banished the man, and in front of the garden of Eden he posted the great winged creatures andthe fiery flashing sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.	24 Scacciò Adamo, e pose a guardia del paradiso di delizia un cherubino con una spada fiammeggiante e roteante, per custodire la via dell'albero della vita.
