Genesis 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Now, the snake was the most subtle of al the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked thewoman, 'Did God real y say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?'	1 Il serpente era la più astuta di tutte le fiere della steppa che il Signore Dio aveva fatto, e disse alla donna: "E' vero che Dio ha detto: "Non dovete mangiare di nessun albero del giardino"?".
2 The woman answered the snake, 'We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden.	2 La donna rispose al serpente: "Dei frutti degli alberi del giardino noi possiamo mangiare;
3 But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, underpain of death." '	3 ma del frutto dell'albero che sta nella parte interna del giardino Dio ha detto: "Non ne dovete mangiare e non lo dovete toccare, per non morirne".
4 Then the snake said to the woman, 'No! You will not die!	4 Ma il serpente disse alla donna: "Voi non morirete affatto!
5 God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes wil be opened and you wil be like gods, knowinggood from evil.'	5 Anzi! Dio sa che nel giorno in cui voi ne mangerete, si apriranno i vostri occhi e diventerete come Dio, conoscitori del bene e del male".
6 The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for thewisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who waswith her, and he ate it.	6 Allora la donna vide che l'albero era buono da mangiare, seducente per gli occhi e attraente per avere successo; perciò prese del suo frutto e ne mangiò, poi ne diede anche a suo marito, che era con lei, ed egli ne mangiò.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig-leaves together to make themselves loin-cloths.	7 Si aprirono allora gli occhi di ambedue e conobbero che erano nudi; perciò cucirono delle foglie di fico e se ne fecero delle cinture.
8 The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, andthey hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.	8 Poi udirono il rumore dei passi del Signore Dio allorché passeggiava nel giardino alla brezza del giorno, e l'uomo fuggì con la moglie dalla presenza del Signore Dio, in mezzo agli alberi del giardino.
9 But Yahweh God called to the man. 'Where are you?' he asked.	9 Allora il Signore Dio chiamò l'uomo e gli domandò: "Dove sei?".
10 'I heard the sound of you in the garden,' he replied. 'I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.'	10 Rispose: "Ho udito il tuo passo nel giardino, e ho avuto paura, perché io sono nudo, e mi sono nascosto".
11 'Who told you that you were naked?' he asked. 'Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you toeat?'	11 Riprese: "Chi ti ha indicato che eri nudo? Hai dunque mangiato dell'albero del quale ti avevo comandato di non mangiare?".
12 The man replied, 'It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ateit.'	12 Rispose l'uomo: "La donna che tu hai messo vicino a me mi ha dato dell'albero, e io ho mangiato".
13 Then Yahweh God said to the woman, 'Why did you do that?' The woman replied, 'The snake temptedme and I ate.'	13 Il Signore Dio disse alla donna: "Come hai fatto questo?". Rispose la donna: "Il serpente mi ha ingannata e io ho mangiato".
14 Then Yahweh God said to the snake, 'Because you have done this, Accursed be you of al animalswild and tame! On your bel y you wil go and on dust you will feed as long as you live.	14 Allora il Signore Dio disse al serpente: "Perché hai fatto questo, maledetto sii tu fra tutto il bestiame e tra tutti gli animali della campagna: sul tuo ventre dovrai camminare e polvere dovrai mangiare per tutti i giorni della tua vita.
15 I shal put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; it wil bruiseyour head and you wil strike its heel.'	15 Ed io porrò un'ostilità tra te e la donna e tra la tua stirpe e la sua stirpe: essa ti schiaccerà la testa e tu la assalirai al tallone".
16 To the woman he said: I shal give you intense pain in childbearing, you will give birth to your childrenin pain. Your yearning wil be for your husband, and he wil dominate you.	16 Alla donna disse: "Moltiplicherò le tue sofferenze e le tue gravidanze, con doglie dovrai partorire figlioli. Verso tuo marito ti spingerà la tua passione, ma egli vorrà dominare su te".
17 To the man he said, 'Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which Ihad forbidden you to eat, Accursed be the soil because of you! Painful y will you get your food from it as long asyou live.	17 E all'uomo disse: "Perché hai ascoltato la voce di tua moglie e hai mangiato dell'albero, per il quale t'avevo comandato: "Non ne devi mangiare": Maledetto sia il suolo per causa tua! Con affanno ne trarrai il nutrimento, per tutti i giorni della tua vita.
18 It wil yield you brambles and thistles, as you eat the produce of the land.	18 Spine e cardi farà spuntare per te, mentre tu dovrai mangiare le erbe della campagna.
19 By the sweat of your face will you earn your food, until you return to the ground, as you were takenfrom it. For dust you are and to dust you shall return.'	19 Con il sudore della tua faccia mangerai pane, finché tornerai alla terra, perché da essa sei stato tratto, perché polvere sei e in polvere devi tornare!".
20 The man named his wife 'Eve' because she was the mother of all those who live.	20 L'uomo diede a sua moglie il nome di Eva, perché essa fu la madre di tutti i viventi.
21 Yahweh God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them.	21 E il Signore Dio fece all'uomo e a sua moglie delle tuniche di pelli e li vestì.
22 Then Yahweh God said, 'Now that the man has become like one of us in knowing good from evil, hemust not be al owed to reach out his hand and pick from the tree of life too, and eat and live for ever!'	22 Il Signore Dio disse allora: "Ecco che l'uomo è diventato come uno di noi, conoscendo il bene e il male! E ora facciamo sì ch'egli non stenda la sua mano e non prenda anche l'albero della vita, così che ne mangi e viva in eterno!".
23 So Yahweh God expelled him from the garden of Eden, to til the soil from which he had been taken.	23 E il Signore Dio lo mandò via dal giardino di Eden, per lavorare il suolo donde era stato tratto.
24 He banished the man, and in front of the garden of Eden he posted the great winged creatures andthe fiery flashing sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.	24 Scacciò l'uomo, e dinanzi al giardino di Eden pose i cherubini e la fiamma della spada folgorante per custodire l'accesso all'albero della vita.
