1 Thessalonians 4

¹ Finally, brothers, we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that, as you received from us how you should conduct yourselves to please God--and as you are conducting yourselves--you do so even more.	¹ Por lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesús: ya habéis aprendido de nosotros cómo comportarse para agradar a Dios; pues comportaos así y seguid adelante.
² For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.	² Pues ya conocéis las instrucciones que os dimos, en nombre del Señor Jesús.
³ This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality,	³ Esta es la voluntad de Dios: vuestra santificación, que os apartéis de la impureza,
⁴ that each of you know how to acquire a wife for himself in holiness and honor,	⁴ que cada uno de vosotros trate su cuerpo con santidad y respeto,
⁵ not in lustful passion as do the Gentiles who do not know God;	⁵ no dominado por la pasión, como hacen los gentiles que no conocen a Dios.
⁶ not to take advantage of or exploit a brother in this matter, for the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you before and solemnly affirmed.	⁶ Y que en este asunto nadie pase por encima de su hermano ni se aproveche con engaño, porque el Señor venga todo esto, como ya os dijimos y os aseguramos:
⁷ For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness.	⁷ Dios no nos ha llamado a una vida impura, sino santa.
⁸ Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who (also) gives his holy Spirit to you.	⁸ Por tanto, quien esto desprecia, no desprecia a un hombre, sino a Dios, que os ha dado su Espíritu Santo.
⁹ On the subject of mutual charity you have no need for anyone to write you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.	⁹ Acerca del amor fraterno, no hace falta que os escriba, porque Dios mismo os ha enseñado a amaros los unos a los otros;
¹⁰ Indeed, you do this for all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Nevertheless we urge you, brothers, to progress even more,	¹⁰ y así lo hacéis con todos los hermanos de Macedonia. Sin embargo os exhortamos, hermanos, a seguir progresando:
¹¹ and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your (own) hands, as we instructed you,	¹¹ esforzaos por vivir con tranquilidad, ocupándoos de vuestros asuntos y trabajando con vuestras propias manos, como os lo tenemos mandado,
¹² that you may conduct yourselves properly toward outsiders and not depend on anyone.	¹² para que os comportéis honestamente con los no cristianos y no tengáis necesidad de nadie.
¹³ We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.	¹³ Hermanos, no queremos que ignoréis la suerte de los difuntos para que no os aflijáis como los que no tienen esperanza.
¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep.	¹⁴ Pues si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, de igual modo Dios llevará con él, por medio de Jesús, a los que han muerto.
¹⁵ Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep.	¹⁵ Esto es lo que os decimos apoyados en la palabra del Señor: nosotros, los que quedemos hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que hayan muerto;
¹⁶ For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first.	¹⁶ pues el mismo Señor, a la voz del arcángel y al son de la trompeta divina, descenderá del cielo, y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán en primer lugar;
¹⁷ Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord.	¹⁷ después nosotros, los que vivamos, los que quedemos, seremos llevados con ellos entre nubes al encuentro del Señor, por los aires. Y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.
¹⁸ Therefore, console one another with these words.	¹⁸ Consolaos, pues, mutuamente con estas palabras.
