1 For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.1 Para la libertad nos ha liberado Cristo. Manteneos, pues, firmes, y no dejéis que vuelvan a someteros a yugos de esclavitud.
2 It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.2 Mirad: yo, Pablo, os digo que, si os circuncidáis, Cristo no os servirá de nada.
3 Once again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to observe the entire law. 3 Y vuelvo a declarar que todo aquel que se circuncida está obligado a observar toda la ley.
4 You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.4 Los que pretendéis ser justificados en el ámbito de la ley, habéis roto con Cristo, habéis salido del ámbito de la gracia.
5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness.5 Pues nosotros mantenemos la esperanza de la justicia por el Espíritu y desde la fe;
6 For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. 6 porque en Cristo nada valen la circuncisión o la incircuncisión, sino la fe que actúa por el amor.
7 You were running well; who hindered you from following (the) truth?7 Estabais corriendo bien; ¿quién os cerró el paso para que no obedecieseis a la verdad?
8 That enticement does not come from the one who called you. 8 Tal persuasión no procede del que os llama.
9 A little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough.9 Un poco de levadura hace fermentar toda la masa.
10 I am confident of you in the Lord that you will not take a different view, and that the one who is troubling you will bear the condemnation, whoever he may be.10 En relación con vosotros, yo confío en que el Señor hará que no penséis de otro modo; ahora bien, el que os alborota, sea quien sea, cargará con su condena.
11 As for me, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case, the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.11 Por mi parte, hermanos, si es verdad que continúo predicando la circuncisión, ¿por qué siguen persiguiéndome? ¡El escándalo de la cruz ha quedado anulado!
12 Would that those who are upsetting you might also castrate themselves! 12 ¡Ojalá se mutilasen los que os soliviantan!
13 For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love.13 Pues vosotros, hermanos, habéis sido llamados a la libertad; ahora bien, no utilicéis la libertad como estímulo para la carne; al contrario, sed esclavos unos de otros por amor.
14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 14 Porque toda la ley se cumple en una sola frase, que es: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.
15 But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.15 Pero, cuidado, pues mordiéndoos y devorándoos unos a otros acabaréis por destruiros mutuamente.
16 I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. 16 Frente a ello, yo os digo: caminad según el Espíritu y no realizaréis los deseos de la carne;
17 For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want.17 pues la carne desea contra el espíritu y el espíritu contra la carne; efectivamente, hay entre ellos un antagonismo tal que no hacéis lo que quisierais.
18 But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.18 Pero si sois conducidos por el Espíritu, no estáis bajo la ley.
19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,19 Las obras de la carne son conocidas: fornicación, impureza, libertinaje,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,20 idolatría, hechicería, enemistades, discordia, envidia, cólera, ambiciones, divisiones, disensiones, rivalidades,
21 occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.21 borracheras, orgías y cosas por el estilo. Y os prevengo, como ya os previne, que quienes hacen estas cosas no heredarán el reino de Dios.
22 In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,22 En cambio, el fruto del Espíritu es: amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, afabilidad, bondad, lealtad,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.23 modestia, dominio de sí. Contra estas cosas no hay ley.
24 Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.24 Y los que son de Cristo Jesús han crucificado la carne con las pasiones y los deseos.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.25 Si vivimos por el Espíritu, marchemos tras el Espíritu.
26 Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.26 No seamos vanidosos, provocándonos unos a otros, envidiándonos unos a otros.
