2 Corinthians 10

1 Now I myself, Paul, urge you through the gentleness and clemency of Christ, I who am humble when face to face with you, but brave toward you when absent,	1 OR io Paolo vi esorto per la benignità, e mansuetudine di Cristo; io dico, che fra voi presente in persona ben sono umile; ma, assente, sono ardito inverso voi.
2 I beg you that, when present, I may not have to be brave with that confidence with which I intend to act boldly against some who consider us as acting according to the flesh.	2 E vi prego che, essendo presente, non mi convenga procedere animosamente con quella confidanza, per la quale son reputato audace, contro ad alcuni che fanno stima di noi, come se camminassimo secondo la carne.
3 For, although we are in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh,	3 Poichè, camminando nella carne, non guerreggiamo secondo la carne
4 for the weapons of our battle are not of flesh but are enormously powerful, capable of destroying fortresses. We destroy arguments	4 perciocchè le armi della nostra guerra non son carnali, ma potenti a Dio alla distruzione delle fortezze,
5 and every pretension raising itself against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ,	5 sovvertendo i discorsi, ed ogni altezza che si eleva contro alla conoscenza di Dio; e cattivando ogni mente all’ubbidienza di Cristo.
6 and we are ready to punish every disobedience, once your obedience is complete.	6 Ed avendo presta in mano la punizione d’ogni disubbidienza, quando la vostra ubbidienza sarà compiuta
7 Look at what confronts you. Whoever is confident of belonging to Christ should consider that as he belongs to Christ, so do we.	7 Riguardate voi alle cose che sono in apparenza? se alcuno si confida in sè stesso d’esser di Cristo, reputi altresì da sè medesimo questo: che, siccome egli è di Cristo, così ancora noi siam di Cristo.
8 And even if I should boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for tearing you down, I shall not be put to shame.	8 Perciocchè, benchè io mi gloriassi ancora alquanto più della nostra podestà, che il Signore ci ha data, ed edificazione, e non a distruzion vostra, io non ne sarei svergognato.
9 May I not seem as one frightening you through letters.	9 Ora, non facciasi stima di me, come se vi spaventassi per lettere.
10 For someone will say, "His letters are severe and forceful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible."	10 Perciocchè, ben sono, dice alcuno, le lettere gravi e forti; ma la presenza del corpo è debole, e la parola dispregevole.
11 Such a person must understand that what we are in word through letters when absent, that we also are in action when present.	11 Il tale reputi questo: che, quali siamo assenti, in parola, per lettere; tali saremo ancora presenti, in fatti
12 Not that we dare to class or compare ourselves with some of those who recommend themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.	12 Perciocchè noi non osiamo aggiungerci, nè paragonarci con alcuni di coloro che si raccomandano loro stessi; ma essi, misurandosi per sè stessi, e paragonandosi con sè stessi, non hanno alcuno intendimento.
13 But we will not boast beyond measure but will keep to the limits God has apportioned us, namely, to reach even to you.	13 Ma, quant’è a noi, non ci glorieremo all’infinito; anzi, secondo la misura del limite che Iddio ci ha spartito come misura del nostro lavoro, ci glorieremo d’esser pervenuti infino a voi.
14 For we are not overreaching ourselves, as though we did not reach you; we indeed first came to you with the gospel of Christ.	14 Perciocchè noi non ci distendiamo oltre il convenevole, come se non fossimo pervenuti infino a voi; poichè siam pervenuti eziandio fino a voi nella predicazione dell’evangelo di Cristo;
15 We are not boasting beyond measure, in other people's labors; yet our hope is that, as your faith increases, our influence among you may be greatly enlarged, within our proper limits,	15 non gloriandoci all’infinito delle fatiche altrui; ma avendo speranza, che crescendo la fede vostra, saremo in voi abbondantemente magnificati, secondo i limiti assegnatici.
16 so that we may preach the gospel even beyond you, not boasting of work already done in another's sphere.	16 Ed anche che noi evangelizzeremo ne’ luoghi, che son di là da voi; e non ci glorieremo nei limiti assegnati ad altrui, di cose preparate per altri.
17 "Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord."	17 Ora, chi si gloria, gloriisi nel Signore.
18 For it is not the one who recommends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord recommends.	18 Poichè, non colui che raccomanda sè stesso è approvato, ma colui che il Signore raccomanda
