Deuteronomy 24

1 "When a man, after marrying a woman and having relations with her, is later displeased with her because he finds in her something indecent, and therefore he writes out a bill of divorce and hands it to her, thus dismissing her from his house:	1 «Se un uomo sposa una donna e agisce con lei da marito: se questa non incontra più favore ai suoi occhi perché egli ha trovato in lei qualcosa di indecente, egli le scriverà un atto di divorzio contro di lei, glielo consegnerà in mano e la manderà via dalla propria casa;
2 if on leaving his house she goes and becomes the wife of another man,	2 ed essa uscita dalla casa di lui, se ne è andata ed ha appartenuto a un altro uomo:
3 and the second husband, too, comes to dislike her and dismisses her from his house by handing her a written bill of divorce; or if this second man who has married her, dies;	3 se questo secondo uomo la odierà, scriverà contro di lei un atto di divorzio, glielo consegnerà in mano e la manderà via dalla propria casa; oppure se morirà questo secondo uomo che l’aveva sposata:
4 then her former husband, who dismissed her, may not again take her as his wife after she has become defiled. That would be an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring such guilt upon the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you as a heritage.	4 il primo marito che l’aveva mandata via, non potrà riprenderla in moglie, dopo che lei è stata così contaminata: ciò è un abominio al cospetto di Jahvè. Tu non devi far peccare la terra che Jahvè tuo Dio sta per assegnarti in eredità.
5 "When a man is newly wed, he need not go out on a military expedition, nor shall any public duty be imposed on him. He shall be exempt for one year for the sake of his family, to bring joy to the wife he has married.	5 Se un uomo si è appena sposato, non andrà nell’esercito né gli si imporrà alcuna incombenza: per un anno resterà libero, dedito alla propria casa per allietare la moglie che ha preso.
6 "No one shall take a hand mill or even its upper stone as a pledge for debt, for he would be taking the debtor's sustenance as a pledge.	6 Non si prenderà in pegno le due mole né la mola superiore: sarebbe un prendere in pegno la vita stessa.
7 "If any man is caught kidnaping a fellow Israelite in order to enslave him and sell him, the kidnaper shall be put to death. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	7 Se un uomo rapisce uno dei suoi fratelli, dei figli di Israele, e agisce dispoticamente verso di lui e lo vende: tale ladro morirà e così sterminerai il male in mezzo a te.
8 "In an attack of leprosy you shall be careful to observe exactly and to carry out all the directions of the levitical priests. Take care to act in accordance with the instructions I have given them.	8 In caso di lebbra guarda di osservare bene e adempiere interamente le direttive che vi impartiranno i sacerdoti leviti. Cercherete di agire secondo quanto io ho ordinato loro.
9 Remember what the LORD, your God, did to Miriam on the journey after you left Egypt.	9 Ricorda ciò che Jahvè tuo Dio ha fatto a Maria quando eravate sul cammino dell’uscita dall’Egitto.
10 "When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, you shall not enter his house to receive a pledge from him,	10 Se fai un prestito qualsiasi al tuo prossimo, non entrerai nella sua casa per prenderti un pegno.
11 but shall wait outside until the man to whom you are making the loan brings his pledge outside to you.	11 Te ne starai fuori e l’uomo al quale tu fai il prestito di porterà il pegno al di fuori.
12 If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in the mantle he gives as a pledge,	12 Ma se questi è un povero, tu non dormirai con il suo pegno:
13 but shall return it to him at sunset that he himself may sleep in it. Then he will bless you, and it will be a good deed of yours before the LORD, your God.	13 al tramonto del sole devi restituirgli il pegno affinché dorma sul proprio mantello e ti benedica; sarà per te una giustizia al cospetto di Jahvè tuo Dio.
14 "You shall not defraud a poor and needy hired servant, whether he be one of your own countrymen or one of the aliens who live in your communities.	14 Non defrauderai la mercede del povero e dell’indigente, né tra i tuoi fratelli né tra i forestieri che si trovano nella tua terra, dentro le tue città.
15 You shall pay him each day's wages before sundown on the day itself, since he is poor and looks forward to them. Otherwise he will cry to the LORD against you, and you will be held guilty.	15 Ogni giorno gli darai la sua mercede: su di essa non tramonterà il sole, poiché egli è povero e a essa rivolge il desiderio. Così non griderà a Jahvè contro di te e in te non ci sarà alcun peccato.
16 "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children for their fathers; only for his own guilt shall a man be put to death.	16 I padri non saranno messi a morte a causa dei figli né i figli saranno messi a morte a causa dei padri: ognuno sarà messo a morte per il proprio peccato.
17 "You shall not violate the rights of the alien or of the orphan, nor take the clothing of a widow as a pledge.	17 Non violerai il diritto del forestiero e dell’orfano né prenderai in pegno la veste della vedova.
18 For, remember, you were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, ransomed you from there; that is why I command you to observe this rule.	18 Ricordati che sei stato schiavo in Egitto e Jahvè tuo Dio ti ha liberato: perciò ti prescrivo di compiere tale cosa.
19 "When you reap the harvest in your field and overlook a sheaf there, you shall not go back to get it; let it be for the alien, the orphan or the widow, that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings.	19 Quando mieterai la messe del tuo campo, se nel campo dimenticherai un covone, non ritornare a prenderlo: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova, affinché Jahvè tuo Dio ti possa benedire in ogni lavoro delle tue mani.
20 When you knock down the fruit of your olive trees, you shall not go over the branches a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan and the widow.	20 Quando abbacchierai il tuo olivo, non ne ripasserai la punta e i rami: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova.
21 When you pick your grapes, you shall not go over the vineyard a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow.	21 Quando vendemmierai la tua vigna, non tornerai indietro a racimolare: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova.
22 For remember that you were once slaves in Egypt; that is why I command you to observe this rule.	22 Ricorda che sei stato schiavo in Egitto: perciò ti prescrivo di compiere tale cosa».
