18 Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. 20 Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.	20 Enquanto assim pensava, eis que um anjo do Senhor lhe apareceu em sonhos e lhe disse: José, filho de Davi, não temas receber Maria por esposa, pois o que nela foi concebido vem do Espírito Santo.
21 She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."	21 Ela dará à luz um filho, a quem porás o nome de Jesus, porque ele salvará o seu povo de seus pecados.
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:	22 Tudo isto aconteceu para que se cumprisse o que o Senhor falou pelo profeta:
23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."	23 Eis que a Virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho, que se chamará Emanuel {Is 7, 14}, que significa: Deus conosco.
24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.	24 Despertando, José fez como o anjo do Senhor lhe havia mandado e recebeu em sua casa sua esposa.
