Zechariah 11

1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars!	1 Ouvre tes portes, Liban, et que le feu dévore tes cèdres.
2 Wail, you cypress trees, for the cedars are fallen, the mighty have been despoiled. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the impenetrable forest is cut down!	2 Hurle, sapin, car le cèdre est tombé et les arbres magnifiques sont détruits; hurlez, chênes de Basan, car la forêt épaisse a été coupée.
3 Hark! the wailing of the shepherds, their glory has been ruined. Hark! the roaring of the young lions, the jungle of the Jordan is laid waste.	3 Les pasteurs poussent des cris lamentables, parce que leur magniificence a été dévastée; les lions rugissent, parce que l'orgueil du Jourdain a été dévasté.
4 Thus said the LORD, my God: Shepherd the flock to be slaughtered.	4 Ainsi parle le Seigneur mon Dieu: Pais les brebis destinées à la boucherie,
5 For they who buy them slay them with impunity; while those who sell them say, "Blessed be the LORD, I have become rich!" Even their own shepherds do not feel for them.	5 que leurs maîtres égorgeaient sans éprouver de compassion, et qu'ils vendaient, en disant: Béni soit le Seigneur! nous sommes devenus riches; et leurs pasteurs ne les épargnaient pas.
6 (Nor shall I spare the inhabitants of the earth any more, says the LORD. Yes, I will deliver each of them into the power of his neighbor, or into the power of his king; they shall crush the earth, and I will not deliver it out of their power.)	6 Moi non plus, Je n'épargnerai pas désormais les habitants du pays, dit le Seigneur; voici, Je livrerai les hommes aux mains les uns des autres, et aux mains de leur roi; ils ravageront le pays et Je ne délivrerai pas de leur main.
7 So I became the shepherd of the flock to be slaughtered for the sheep merchants. I took two staffs, one of which I called "Favor," and the other, "Bonds," and I fed the flock.	7 C'est pourquoi, ô pauvres du troupeau, Je ferai paître ces brebis destinées à la boucherie. Je pris deux houlettes; J'appelai l'une Beauté et l'autre Lien, et Je fis paître le troupeau.
8 In a single month I did away with the three shepherds. I wearied of them, and they behaved badly toward me.	8 Je fis mourir trois pasteurs en un mois, et Mon coeur se resserra à leur égard, parce que leur âme aussi M'avait été infidèle.
9 "I will not feed you," I said. "What is to die, let it die; what is to perish, let it perish, and let those that are left devour one another's flesh."	9 Et Je dis: Je ne vous ferai plus paître; que ce qui meurt, meure; que ce qui est égorgé, soit égorgé, et que ceux qui restent dévorent la chair les uns des autres.
10 Then I took my staff "Favor" and snapped it asunder, breaking off the covenant which I had made with all peoples;	10 Je pris la houlette qui s'appelait Beauté, et Je la brisai, pour rompre Mon alliance que j'avais faite avec tous les peuples.
11 that day it was broken off. The sheep merchants who were watching me understood that this was the word of the LORD.	11 Elle fut annulée en ce jour-là; et les pauvres du troupeau, qui Me gardent la fidélité, reconnurent ainsi que c'était la parole du Seigneur.
12 I said to them, "If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, let it go." And they counted out my wages, thirty pieces of silver.	12 Et Je leur dis: Si vous le trouvez bon, apportez-Moi Mon salaire; sinon, ne le faites pas. Ils pesèrent alors trente pièces d'argent pour Mon salaire.
13 But the LORD said to me, "Throw it in the treasury, the handsome price at which they valued me." So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the treasury in the house of the LORD.	13 Et le Seigneur me dit: Jette-la au potier, cette belle somme pour laquelle ils M'ont apprécié. Et je pris les trente pièces d'argent, et je les jetai au potier, dans la maison du Seigneur.
14 Then I snapped asunder my other staff, "Bonds," breaking off the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.	14 Puis Je brisai ma seconde houlette, qui s'appelait Lien, pour rompre la fraternité entre Juda et Israël.
15 The LORD said to me: This time take the gear of a foolish shepherd.	15 Et le Seigneur me dit: Prends encore l'attirail d'un pasteur insensé.
16 For I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will take no note of those that perish, nor seek the strays, nor heal the injured, nor feed what survives--he will eat the flesh of the fat ones and tear off their hoofs!	16 Car voici, Je susciterai dans le pays un pasteur qui ne visitera pas les brebis abandonnées, qui ne cherchera pas celles qui sont dispersées, qui ne guérira pas les blessées, qui ne nourrira pas les saines, mais qui mangera la chair de plus grasses, et qui leur rompra la corne des pieds.
17 Woe to my foolish shepherd who forsakes the flock! May the sword fall upon his arm and upon his right eye; Let his arm wither away entirely, and his right eye be blind forever!	17 O pasteur, ô idole qui abandonne le troupeau! L'épée tombera sur son bras et sur son oeil droit; son bras se desséchera entièrement, et son oeil droit sera couvert de ténèbres.
