Zechariah 11

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars!	1 Abre, ó Líbano, as tuas portas, e o fogo devore os teus cedros; geme, cipreste, porque o cedro caiu.
2 Wail, you cypress trees, for the cedars are fallen, the mighty have been despoiled. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the impenetrable forest is cut down!	2 As mais belas árvores foram abatidas! Gemei, carvalhos de Basã, porque foi dizimada a floresta impenetrável.
3 Hark! the wailing of the shepherds, their glory has been ruined. Hark! the roaring of the young lions, the jungle of the Jordan is laid waste.	3 Ouve-se o pranto dos pastores porque foram arruinados os seus pastos, o seu orgulho. Ouve-se o rugir dos leõezinhos, porque foram devastadas as florestas do Jordão.
4 Thus said the LORD, my God: Shepherd the flock to be slaughtered.	4 Eis o que diz o Senhor meu Deus:
5 For they who buy them slay them with impunity; while those who sell them say, "Blessed be the LORD, I have become rich!" Even their own shepherds do not feel for them.	5 Apascenta estas ovelhas destinadas ao matadouro, que são compradas e degoladas impunemente, cujos vendedores dizem: Bendito seja o Senhor! Eis que estou rico! - sem que nenhum pastor tenha compaixão delas.
6 (Nor shall I spare the inhabitants of the earth any more, says the LORD. Yes, I will deliver each of them into the power of his neighbor, or into the power of his king; they shall crush the earth, and I will not deliver it out of their power.)	6 Por minha vez, não pouparei mais os habitantes desta terra - oráculo do Senhor. Entregarei os homens uns aos outros e nas mãos de seu rei; devastarão o país e não livrarei ninguém de sua mão.
7 So I became the shepherd of the flock to be slaughtered for the sheep merchants. I took two staffs, one of which I called "Favor," and the other, "Bonds," and I fed the flock.	7 Pus-me então a apascentar as ovelhas destinadas ao matadouro, as mais miseráveis do rebanho. Escolhi dois cajados, aos quais chamei respectivamente Benignidade e Liame, e comecei a apascentar o rebanho.
8 In a single month I did away with the three shepherds. I wearied of them, and they behaved badly toward me.	8 Despedi os três pastores desde o primeiro mês: eu estava cansado deles, e eles estavam desgostados de mim.
9 "I will not feed you," I said. "What is to die, let it die; what is to perish, let it perish, and let those that are left devour one another's flesh."	9 Eu declarei: Não quero mais saber do ofício de pastor. Pereça o que perecer, morra o que morrer! Os que restarem, que se devorem uns aos outros.
10 Then I took my staff "Favor" and snapped it asunder, breaking off the covenant which I had made with all peoples;	10 Tomando então Benignidade, meu cajado, quebrei-o, rompendo assim o pacto concluído com todos os povos.
11 that day it was broken off. The sheep merchants who were watching me understood that this was the word of the LORD.	11 Ele foi quebrado naquele dia e os mercadores de animais que me observavam, perceberam que aquilo indicava um oráculo do Senhor.
12 I said to them, "If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, let it go." And they counted out my wages, thirty pieces of silver.	12 Eu disse-lhes: Dai-me o meu salário, se o julgais bem, ou então retende-o! Eles pagaram-me apenas trinta moedas de prata pelo meu salário.
13 But the LORD said to me, "Throw it in the treasury, the handsome price at which they valued me." So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the treasury in the house of the LORD.	13 O Senhor disse-me: Lança esse dinheiro no tesouro, esta bela soma, na qual estimaram os teus serviços. Tomei as trinta moedas de prata e lancei-as no tesouro da casa do Senhor.
14 Then I snapped asunder my other staff, "Bonds," breaking off the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.	14 Depois tomei o meu cajado Liame e quebrei-o, rompendo assim o pacto de fraternidade entre Judá e Israel.
15 The LORD said to me: This time take the gear of a foolish shepherd.	15 O Senhor disse-me: Aparelha-te agora como um mau pastor.
16 For I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will take no note of those that perish, nor seek the strays, nor heal the injured, nor feed what survives--he will eat the flesh of the fat ones and tear off their hoofs!	16 Estou pronto a suscitar nesta terra um pastor que não terá cuidado das ovelhas que perecem, não buscará as que se desgarram, não curará a que for ferida, nem alimentará a sã; mas comerá a carne das melhores e lhes arrancará as unhas.
17 Woe to my foolish shepherd who forsakes the flock! May the sword fall upon his arm and upon his right eye; Let his arm wither away entirely, and his right eye be blind forever!	17 Ai do mau pastor que abandona o seu rebanho! Que a espada fira o seu braço e o seu olho direito! Que seque seu braço e seja coberto de trevas o seu olho direito!
