1 In the first month of the year following their departure from the land of Egypt, the Lord said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai, nel secondo anno dalla loro uscita dalla terra d'Egitto, nel primo mese, e gli disse:
2 "Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time.	2 "I figli d'Israele facciano la Pasqua a suo tempo;
3 The evening twilight of the fourteenth day of this month is the prescribed time when you shall celebrate it, observing all its rules and regulations."	3 il 14 di questo mese, tra le due sere, la farete nel suo tempo: la farete con tutte le prescrizioni e usanze".
4 Moses, therefore, told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover.	4 Mosè ordinò ai figli d'Israele di celebrare la Pasqua.
5 And they did so, celebrating the Passover in the desert of Sinai during the evening twilight of the fourteenth day of the first month, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.	5 Essi fecero la Pasqua nel primo mese, il 14 del mese, tra le due sere, nel deserto del Sinai. Secondo quanto il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè, così fecero i figli d'Israele.
6 There were some, however, who were unclean because of a human corpse and so could not keep the Passover that day. These men came up to Moses and Aaron that same day	6 Or alcuni uomini resi impuri da cadavere, che non poterono fare la Pasqua in quel giorno, si presentarono in quel giorno a Mosè e ad Aronne
7 and said, "Although we are unclean because of a corpse, why should we be deprived of presenting the LORD'S offering at its proper time along with the other Israelites?"	7 e dissero loro: "Siamo impuri per un cadavere: perché ci è proibito di presentare il dono al Signore nel suo tempo in mezzo ai figli d'Israele?".
8 Moses answered them, "Wait until I learn what the LORD will command in your regard."	8 Mosè rispose: "Restate: voglio sentire che cosa ordinerà il Signore in proposito".
9 The LORD then said to Moses:	9 Il Signore rispose a Mosè:
10 "Speak to the Israelites and say: If any one of you or of your descendants is unclean because of a corpse, or if he is absent on a journey, he may still keep the LORD'S Passover.	10 "Parla ai figli d'Israele dicendo: Chiunque tra voi o i vostri parenti, impuro da cadavere o in un viaggio lontano, celebrerà la Pasqua per il Signore:
11 But he shall keep it in the second month, during the evening twilight of the fourteenth day of that month, eating it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs,	11 la celebrerà nel secondo mese, il 14, tra le due sere, e mangerà azzimi ed erbe amare.
12 and not leaving any of it over till morning, nor breaking any of its bones, but observing all the rules of the Passover.	12 Non ne avanzerà fino al mattino, né romperà alcun osso: la farà secondo tutte le prescrizioni della Pasqua.
13 However, anyone who is clean and not away on a journey, who yet fails to keep the Passover, shall be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD'S offering at the prescribed time. That man shall bear the consequences of his sin.	13 Ma chi era puro, non era in cammino e mancò di fare la Pasqua, quell'individuo sarà eliminato dal suo popolo; perché non presentò il dono del Signore a suo tempo: egli porterà il suo peccato.
14 "If an alien who lives among you wishes to keep the LORD'S Passover, he too shall observe the rules and regulations for the Passover. You shall have the same law for the resident alien as for the native of the land."	14 Se uno straniero abiterà con voi e celebrerà la Pasqua del Signore, seguirà la prescrizione della Pasqua e la sua usanza: ci sia per voi una prescrizione unica, per l'ospite e l'indigeno del paese".
15 On the day when the Dwelling was erected, the cloud covered the Dwelling, the tent of the commandments; but from evening until morning it took on the appearance of fire over the Dwelling.	15 Nel giorno in cui si eresse la dimora, una nuvola coprì la dimora, cioè la tenda della testimonianza, mentre alla sera c'era sulla dimora come un'apparizione di fuoco fino al mattino.
16 It was always so: during the day the Dwelling was covered by the cloud, which at night had the appearance of fire.	16 Così era sempre: la nuvola copriva la dimora e di notte aveva l'aspetto di fuoco.
17 Whenever the cloud rose from the tent, the Israelites would break camp; wherever the cloud came to rest, they would pitch camp.	17 Quando la nuvola si alzava dalla tenda, i figli d'Israele partivano, e nel luogo dove si posava la nuvola i figli d'Israele si fermavano.
18 At the bidding of the LORD the Israelites moved on, and at his bidding they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the Dwelling, they remained in camp.	18 All'ordine del Signore i figli d'Israele partivano, all'ordine del Signore si fermavano: e rimanevano accampati finché la nuvola restava sulla dimora.
19 Even when the cloud tarried many days over the Dwelling, the Israelites obeyed the LORD and would not move on;	19 Se la nuvola si attardava per molti giorni sulla dimora, i figli d'Israele mantenevano l'osservanza del Signore e non partivano.
20 yet sometimes the cloud was over the Dwelling only for a few days. It was at the bidding of the LORD that they stayed in camp, and it was at his bidding that they departed.	20 Se la nuvola rimaneva pochi giorni sulla dimora, secondo la parola del Signore si fermavano e secondo la parola del Signore partivano.
21 Sometimes the cloud remained there only from evening until morning; and when it rose in the morning, they would depart. Or if the cloud lifted during the day, or even at night, they would then set out.	21 Se c'era la nuvola dalla sera al mattino e al mattino si alzava, allora partivano; o se si alzava dopo un giorno e una notte, allora partivano.
22 Whether the cloud tarried over the Dwelling for two days or for a month or longer, the Israelites remained in camp and did not depart; but when it lifted, they moved on.	22 Se per due giorni, un mese o un anno la nuvola prolungava la sua permanenza sulla dimora, i figli d'Israele restavano e non partivano.
23 Thus, it was always at the bidding of the LORD that they encamped, and at his bidding that they set out; ever heeding the charge of the LORD, as he had bidden them through Moses.	23 Si fermavano secondo la parola del Signore e secondo la parola di lui partivano. Osservavano le prescrizioni del Signore, secondo quanto egli aveva ordinato per mezzo di Mosè.
