1 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because he burned to ashes the bones of Edom's king,	1 Così dice il Signore: «Per tre misfatti di Moab e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto di condanna, perché ha bruciato le ossa del re di Edom per ridurle in calce.
2 I will send fire upon Moab, to devour the castles of Kerioth; Moab shall meet death amid uproar and shouts and trumpet blasts.	2 Manderò il fuoco a Moab e divorerà i palazzi di Keriòt e Moab morirà nel tumulto, al grido di guerra, al suono del corno.
3 I will root out the judge from her midst, and her princes I will slay with him, says the LORD.	3 Eliminerò dal suo seno chi governa, ucciderò, insieme con lui, tutti i suoi prìncipi», dice il Signore.
4 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because they spurned the law of the LORD, and did not keep his statutes; Because the lies which their fathers followed have led them astray,	4 Così dice il Signore: «Per tre misfatti di Giuda e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto di condanna, perché hanno rifiutato la legge del Signore e non ne hanno osservato i precetti, si sono lasciati traviare dagli idoli che i loro padri avevano seguito.
5 I will send fire upon Judah, to devour the castles of Jerusalem.	5 Manderò il fuoco a Giuda e divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme».
6 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because they sell the just man for silver, and the poor man for a pair of sandals.	6 Così dice il Signore: «Per tre misfatti d’Israele e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto di condanna, perché hanno venduto il giusto per denaro e il povero per un paio di sandali,
7 They trample the heads of the weak into the dust of the earth, and force the lowly out of the way. Son and father go to the same prostitute, profaning my holy name.	7 essi che calpestano come la polvere della terra la testa dei poveri e fanno deviare il cammino dei miseri, e padre e figlio vanno dalla stessa ragazza, profanando così il mio santo nome.
8 Upon garments taken in pledge they recline beside any altar; And the wine of those who have been fined they drink in the house of their god.	8 Su vesti prese come pegno si stendono presso ogni altare e bevono il vino confiscato come ammenda nella casa del loro Dio.
9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorites before them, who were as tall as the cedars, and as strong as the oak trees. I destroyed their fruit above, and their roots beneath.	9 Eppure io ho sterminato davanti a loro l’Amorreo, la cui statura era come quella dei cedri e la forza come quella della quercia; ho strappato i suoi frutti in alto e le sue radici di sotto.
10 It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, and who led you through the desert for forty years, to occupy the land of the Amorites:	10 Io vi ho fatto salire dalla terra d’Egitto e vi ho condotto per quarant’anni nel deserto, per darvi in possesso la terra dell’Amorreo.
11 I who raised up prophets among your sons, and nazirites among your young men. Is this not so, O men of Israel? says the LORD.	11 Ho fatto sorgere profeti fra i vostri figli e nazirei fra i vostri giovani. Non è forse così, o figli d’Israele? Oracolo del Signore.
12 But you gave the nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.	12 Ma voi avete fatto bere vino ai nazirei e ai profeti avete ordinato: “Non profetate!”.
13 Beware, I will crush you into the ground as a wagon crushes when laden with sheaves.	13 Ecco, vi farò affondare nella terra, come affonda un carro quando è tutto carico di covoni.
14 Flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong man shall not retain his strength; The warrior shall not save his life,	14 Allora nemmeno l’uomo agile potrà più fuggire né l’uomo forte usare la sua forza, il prode non salverà la sua vita
15 nor the bowman stand his ground; The swift of foot shall not escape, nor the horseman save his life.	15 né l’arciere resisterà, non si salverà il corridore né il cavaliere salverà la sua vita.
16 And the most stouthearted of warriors shall flee naked on that day, says the LORD.	16 Il più coraggioso fra i prodi fuggirà nudo in quel giorno!». Oracolo del Signore.
