1 On the first day of the twelfth month in the twelfth year, the word of the LORD came to me:	1 L'anno duodecimo, il duodecimo mese, il primo del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
2 Son of man, utter a lament over Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, saying to him: Lion of the nations, you are destroyed. You were like a monster in the sea, spouting in your streams, Stirring the water with your feet and churning its streams.	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, pronunzia una lamentazione sopra Faraone, re d'Egitto, e di' a lui: Tu fosti simile ad un leone fra le nazioni, al dragone che sta nel mare, e agitavi il corno nei tuoi fiumi, e coi piedi intorbidavi le acque e ne calpestavi i canali.
3 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will spread my net over you (with a host of many nations), and draw you up in my seine.	3 Per questo, così parla il Signore Dio: Io stenderò sopra di te la mia rete con una moltitudine di popoli, e ti tirerò fuori colla mia rete,
4 I will leave you on the land; on the open field I will cast you. I will have all the birds of the air alight on you, and all the beasts of the earth eat their fill of you.	4 e ti getterò sulla terra, e ti abbandonerò in mezzo ai campi, e farò posare sopra di te tutti gli uccelli del cielo, e con te sazierò le bestie di tutta la terra;
5 I will leave your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your carcass.	5 e spargerò le tue carni sopra i monti, ed empirò i colli del tuo marciume.
6 I will water the land with what flows from you, and the river beds shall be filled with your blood.	6 E irrigherò la terra col bottino del tuo sangue fin sopra i monti, e di te saran piene le valli.
7 When I snuff you out I will cover the heavens, and all their stars I will darken; The sun I will cover with clouds, and the moon shall not give its light.	7 E quando sarai morto coprirò il cielo e farò oscurare le sue stelle; coprirò di nubi il sole, e la luna non darà più la sua luce.
8 All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken on your account, And I will spread darkness over your land, says the Lord GOD.	8 Per te metterò in lutto tutti i luminari del cielo, e spanderò le tenebre sopra la tua terra — dice il Signore Dio — quando i tuoi cadran feriti in mezzo alla terra — dice il Signore Dio —
9 I will grieve the hearts of many peoples when I lead you captive among the nations, to lands which you do not know.	9 e riempirò di spavento il cuore di molti popoli quando farò arrivare (la notizia) della tua rovina alle nazioni, in terre che non conosci
10 Many peoples shall be appalled at you, and their kings shall shudder over you in horror when they see me brandish my sword, and on the day of your downfall every one of them shall continuously tremble for his own life.	10 e riguardo a te farò stupire molti popoli, e pel tuo caso i loro re tremeranno pel grande spavento, quando comincerà a lampeggiare la mia spada davanti a loro e saran presi da improvviso spavento, ciascuno per la vita, nel giorno della tua rovina.
11 For thus says the Lord GOD: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.	11 Infatti così parla il Signore Dio: La spada del re di Babilonia verrà sopra di te.
12 I will cut down your horde with the blades of warriors, all of them the most ruthless of the nations; They shall lay waste the glory of Egypt, and all her hordes shall be destroyed.	12 Io farò cadere la tua moltitudine sotto le spade dei forti, degli invincibili fra tutti i popoli, e abbatteranno la superbia dell'Egitto, e la sua moltitudine sarà sterminata.
13 I will have all of her animals perish beside her abundant waters; The foot of man shall stir them no longer, nor shall the hoof of beast disturb them.	13 E farò sparire tutto il suo bestiame pascolante lungo le grandi acque, che non saran più intorbidate dal piede dell'uomo, non saranno più intorbidate dallo zoccolo dei giumenti.
14 Then will I make their waters clear, and their streams flow like oil, says the Lord GOD.	14 Allora renderò limpidissime le loro acque e farò scorrere i loro fiumi come l'olio — dice il Signore Dio, —
15 When I turn Egypt into a waste, the land shall be devastated of all that is in it; when I strike all who live there, they shall know that I am the LORD.	15 quando avrò ridotto la terra d'Egitto a un deserto; e la terra sarà spogliata di tutto ciò che contiene, quando avrò percossi tutti i suoi abitanti; e sapranno che io sono il Signore.
16 This is a dirge, and it shall be sung: the daughters of the nations shall chant it; over Egypt and all its hordes shall they chant it, says the Lord GOD.	16 Questa è la lamentazione, e sarà cantata e la canteranno le lìglie delle nazioni, la canteranno sopra l'Egitto e sopra il suo popolo — dice il Signore Dio ».
17 On the fifteenth day of the first month in the twelfth year, the word of the LORD came to me:	17 L'anno duodecimo, ai quindici del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
18 Son of man, lament over the throngs of Egypt, for the mighty nations have thrust them down to the bottom of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.	18 « Figlio dell'uomo, canta una lamentazione sopra il popolo dell'Egitto, e fa precipitare lui e le figlie delle potenti nazioni nelle profondità della terra, con quelli che discendono nella fossa.
19 "Whom do you excel in beauty?	19 In che sei più bello? Scendi e dormi cogli incirconcisi!
20 In the midst of those slain by the sword shall they fall, and place shall be made with them for all their hordes. Then from the midst of the nether world, the mighty warriors shall speak to Egypt:	20 Essi cadranno fra quelli uccisi dalla spada: la spada è stata consegnata: hanno abbattuto (l'Egitto) e tutti i suoi popoli.
21 Come down, you and your allies, lie with the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword."	21 I più potenti dei guerrieri rivolgeranno a lui la parola di mezzo all'inferno, quelli discesi con i suoi ausiliari, morirono incirconcisi, uccisi dalla spada.
22 There is Assyria with all her company, all of them slain,	22 Ivi è Assur con tutto il suo popolo, intorno a lui sono i suoi sepolcri: tutti gli uccisi, tutti i caduti sotto la spada.
23 whose graves have been made in the recesses of the pit; her company is around Egypt's grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who spread terror in the land of the living.	23 I suoi sepolcri son posti nel più profondo della fossa, e il suo popolo giace intorno al suo sepolcro: tutti uccisi e caduti sotto la spada, quelli che una volta avevano sparso il terrore nella terra dei viventi.
24 There is Elam with all her throng about Egypt's grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword: they have gone down uncircumcised to the bottom of the earth, who spread their terror in the land of the living, and they bear their disgrace with those who go down into the pit;	24 Ivi è Elam con tutto il suo popolo, intorno al suo sepolcro: tutti uccisi, abbattuti dalla spada; questi incirconcisi discesero nel più profondo della terra, essi, che avevano sparso il terrore nella terra dei viventi, han portato la loro ignominia con quelli che discendono nella fossa.
25 in the midst of the slain they are placed.	25 In mezzo agli uccisi, hanno posto il suo giaciglio fra tutti i suoi popoli, i quali hanno intorno a lui i loro sepolcri. Questi incirconcisi abbattuti dalla spada sparsero il loro terrore nella terra dei viventi, ed han portata la loro ignominia con quelli discesi nella fossa: giacciono in mezzo agli uccisi.
26 There are Meshech and Tubal and all their throng about her grave, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for they spread their terror in the land of the living.	26 Ivi è Mosoc e Tubai con tutto il suo popolo: intorno a lui sono i suoi sepolcri: tutti questi incirconcisi sono stati uccisi, e abbattuti dalla spada per avere sparso il loro terrore nella terra dei viventi.
27 They do not lie with the mighty men fallen of old, who went down to the nether world with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads and whose shields were laid over their bones, though the mighty men caused terror in the land of the living.	27 Essi non giaceranno coi forti, con i caduti e gli incirconcisi, discesi nell'inferno colle loro armi, e sotto la testa dei quali hanno messo le loro spade; ma le loro iniquità son penetrate nelle loro ossa, perchè erano il terrore dei forti nella terra dei viventi.
28 But in the midst of the uncircumcised shall you lie, with those slain by the sword.	28 Anche tu dunque sarai calpestato tra gli incirconcisi e giacerai cogli uccisi dalla spada.
29 There are Edom, her kings, and all her princes, who despite their might have been placed with those slain by the sword; with the uncircumcised they lie, and with those who go down into the pit.	29 Ivi l'Idumea, i suoi re, i suoi condottieri, i quali coi loro eserciti sono stati messi fra quelli uccisi dalla spada; anch'essi giacciono cogli incirconcisi, e con quelli discesi nella fossa.
30 There are all the princes of the north and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain, because of the terror their might inspired; they lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword and bear their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.	30 Ivi tutti i principi del settentrione e tutti i cacciatori, discesi, pieni di paura, tra gli uccisi con tutta la loro fortezza sono confusi. Questi incirconcisi giacciono tra quei che periron di spada, e portan la loro ignominia con quelli discesi nella fossa.
31 When Pharaoh sees these, he shall be comforted for all his hordes slain by the sword--Pharaoh and all his army, says the Lord GOD.	31 Faraone li ha visti e si consolò a causa di tutto il suo popolo ucciso dalla spada, Faraone e tutto il suo esercito — dice il Signore Dio.
32 Since he spread his terror in the land of the living, therefore is he laid to rest among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword--Pharaoh and all his hordes, says the Lord GOD.	32 Siccome io ho sparso il mio terrore nella terra dei viventi, eccolo a dormire in mezzo agli incirconcisi con quelli uccisi dalla spada, Faraone e tutto il suo popolo — dice il Signore Dio ».
