1 On the first day of the twelfth month in the twelfth year, the word of the LORD came to me:	1 Nel dodicesimo anno, il primo del dodicesimo mese, mi giunse la seguente parola del Signore:
2 Son of man, utter a lament over Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, saying to him: Lion of the nations, you are destroyed. You were like a monster in the sea, spouting in your streams, Stirring the water with your feet and churning its streams.	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, intona una lamentazione sul faraone, re d'Egitto; digli: Leoncello delle genti, sei finito! Somigli al coccodrillo dell'acqua; irrompevi nei tuoi canali, hai calpestato l'acqua con le zampe, hai intorbidato i canali.
3 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will spread my net over you (with a host of many nations), and draw you up in my seine.	3 Così dice il Signore Dio: Stenderò contro di te la mia rete con un'accolta di molti popoli che ti trarranno nelle mie maglie.
4 I will leave you on the land; on the open field I will cast you. I will have all the birds of the air alight on you, and all the beasts of the earth eat their fill of you.	4 Ti getterò per terra, scagliandoti in aperta campagna; farò posare su di te gli uccelli del cielo e sazierò di te tutte le bestie della terra.
5 I will leave your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your carcass.	5 Getterò la tua carogna sui monti, della tua carcassa si riempiranno le gole.
6 I will water the land with what flows from you, and the river beds shall be filled with your blood.	6 Bagnerò col tuo sangue la terra, col tuo flusso i monti; le gole si riempiranno di te.
7 When I snuff you out I will cover the heavens, and all their stars I will darken; The sun I will cover with clouds, and the moon shall not give its light.	7 Quando ti spegnerai coprirò i cieli, farò intristire le stelle; il sole lo coprirò con le nubi e la luna non darà più la sua luce.
8 All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken on your account, And I will spread darkness over your land, says the Lord GOD.	8 Tutto ciò che fa luce nel cielo lo farò oscurare su di te, diffonderò le tenebre sulla terra. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
9 I will grieve the hearts of many peoples when I lead you captive among the nations, to lands which you do not know.	9 Causerò il voltastomaco a molti popoli quando farò arrivare i tuoi brandelli tra le genti, in paesi che non conoscevi.
10 Many peoples shall be appalled at you, and their kings shall shudder over you in horror when they see me brandish my sword, and on the day of your downfall every one of them shall continuously tremble for his own life.	10 Farò stupire su di te molti popoli e ai loro re si drizzeranno i capelli, quando farò roteare davanti a loro la mia spada; tremeranno ad ogni istante per la loro vita, nel giorno della tua caduta.
11 For thus says the Lord GOD: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.	11 Poiché così dice il Signore: La spada del re di Babilonia viene verso di te.
12 I will cut down your horde with the blades of warriors, all of them the most ruthless of the nations; They shall lay waste the glory of Egypt, and all her hordes shall be destroyed.	12 Con le spade degli eroi farò cadere la tua moltitudine. Essi sono le peggiori di tutte le genti. Distruggeranno l'arroganza dell'Egitto e annienteranno tutta la sua grandezza.
13 I will have all of her animals perish beside her abundant waters; The foot of man shall stir them no longer, nor shall the hoof of beast disturb them.	13 Farò perire tutto il suo bestiame con le grandi acque; non lo calpesterà mai più piede d'uomo, unghia d'animale non lo calpesterà più.
14 Then will I make their waters clear, and their streams flow like oil, says the Lord GOD.	14 Allora ridurrò le tue acque e i tuoi fiumi scoleranno appena, come olio. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
15 When I turn Egypt into a waste, the land shall be devastated of all that is in it; when I strike all who live there, they shall know that I am the LORD.	15 Quando renderò l'Egitto una desolazione e rimarrà desolato il paese con tutto ciò che vi è, quando colpirò tutti i suoi abitanti, allora riconosceranno che io sono il Signore".
16 This is a dirge, and it shall be sung: the daughters of the nations shall chant it; over Egypt and all its hordes shall they chant it, says the Lord GOD.	16 Questa è una lamentazione: la ripeteranno lamentose le figlie delle genti; la reciteranno sull'Egitto e su tutta la sua moltitudine. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
17 On the fifteenth day of the first month in the twelfth year, the word of the LORD came to me:	17 Nel dodicesimo anno, il dieci del quinto mese, mi giunse la parola del Signore:
18 Son of man, lament over the throngs of Egypt, for the mighty nations have thrust them down to the bottom of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.	18 "Figlio dell'uomo, fa' lamenti sulla moltitudine degli abitanti d'Egitto: accompagnane la discesa, sua e delle altre nazioni nobili, sotto terra, tra quelli che scendono nella fossa!
19 "Whom do you excel in beauty?	19 Sei forse più bello degli altri? Discendi e giaci con gl'incirconcisi!
20 In the midst of those slain by the sword shall they fall, and place shall be made with them for all their hordes. Then from the midst of the nether world, the mighty warriors shall speak to Egypt:	20 Egli cade in mezzo ai trafitti di spada e tutta la sua potenza si estingue.
21 Come down, you and your allies, lie with the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword."	21 Gli eroi più gagliardi gli parleranno di mezzo agl'inferi, dicendo a lui e ai suoi ausiliari: "Vieni, scendi tra gl'incirconcisi, con i trafitti da spada!".
22 There is Assyria with all her company, all of them slain,	22 Là c'è Assur e tutta la sua schiera attorno al suo sepolcro: tutti uccisi, trafitti da spada:
23 whose graves have been made in the recesses of the pit; her company is around Egypt's grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who spread terror in the land of the living.	23 ne misero i sepolcri nel fondo della fossa e la sua schiera è attorno alla sua tomba; tutti uccisi, traffitti da spada. Eppure incuterono spavento nella terra dei vivi!
24 There is Elam with all her throng about Egypt's grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword: they have gone down uncircumcised to the bottom of the earth, who spread their terror in the land of the living, and they bear their disgrace with those who go down into the pit;	24 Là c'è Elam e tutte le sue truppe attorno alla sua tomba, sono tutti uccisi, trafitti da spada, scesi incirconcisi sotto terra, essi che incuterono spavento nella terra dei vivi! Portano la loro vergogna come gli altri che scendono nella fossa!
25 in the midst of the slain they are placed.	25 In mezzo agli uccisi gli diedero un giaciglio, con tutta la sua gente attorno al suo sepolcro, tutti incirconcisi, trafitti da spada, essi che avevano sparso lo spavento nella terra dei vivi! Portarono la loro vergogna con i discesi nella fossa; in mezzo agli uccisi è il loro posto.
26 There are Meshech and Tubal and all their throng about her grave, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for they spread their terror in the land of the living.	26 Là c'è Mesech, Tubal e tutta la sua truppa attorno al suo sepolcro: tutti incirconcisi, trafitti dalla spada; eppure incuterono lo spavento nella terra dei vivi!
27 They do not lie with the mighty men fallen of old, who went down to the nether world with their weapons of war, whose swords were placed under their heads and whose shields were laid over their bones, though the mighty men caused terror in the land of the living.	27 Essi però non dormono con gli eroi caduti da tempo, che scesero negli inferi con le loro armi da guerra, ai quali posero le spade sotto la testa e lo scudo sopra le loro ossa, poiché lo spavento di tali eroi pesava sulla terra dei vivi.
28 But in the midst of the uncircumcised shall you lie, with those slain by the sword.	28 Tu dunque giacerai tra gl'incirconcisi, assieme ai trafitti da spada.
29 There are Edom, her kings, and all her princes, who despite their might have been placed with those slain by the sword; with the uncircumcised they lie, and with those who go down into the pit.	29 Là c'è Edom, i suoi re e tutti i suoi prìncipi, che sono posti con i trafitti da spada, nonostante il loro valore. Essi pure giacciono con gl'incirconcisi, con quelli che scendono nella fossa.
30 There are all the princes of the north and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain, because of the terror their might inspired; they lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword and bear their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.	30 Là ci sono tutti i prìncipi del settentrione, tutti i Sidoni, che scesero con i trafitti, nonostante il terrore sparso dalla loro potenza: giacciono incirconcisi insieme ai trafitti da spada e porteranno la loro vergogna con quelli che scendono nella fossa.
31 When Pharaoh sees these, he shall be comforted for all his hordes slain by the sword--Pharaoh and all his army, says the Lord GOD.	31 Il faraone li vedrà, e si consolerà alla vista di quella moltitudine di uccisi con la spada. Il faraone e tutto il suo esercito sono tra i trafitti da spada, oracolo del Signore Dio.
32 Since he spread his terror in the land of the living, therefore is he laid to rest among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword--Pharaoh and all his hordes, says the Lord GOD.	32 Egli aveva sparso il suo terrore sulla terra dei vivi: ecco, giace tra gl'incirconcisi, assieme ai colpiti da spada, il faraone e tutta la sua moltitudine! Oracolo del Signore Dio".
