1 In the tenth month of the ninth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and all his army marched against Jerusalem and besieged it.	1 Nell'anno nono di Sedecia, re di Giuda, nel mese decimo, venne Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, con tutto il suo esercito contro Gerusalemme e posero l'assedio attorno ad essa.

4 When Zedekiah, king of Judah, saw them, he and all his warriors fled by night, leaving the city on the Royal Garden Road through the gate between the two walls. 13 Thereupon Nebuzaradan, chief of the bodyguard, and Nebushazban, the high dignitary, and Nergal-sharezer, the chief officer, and all the nobles of the king of Babylon,	13 Incaricò, dunque, Nabuzaradàn, capo della guardia, e Nabusazbàn, capo dei funzionari, e Nergal-Sarèzer, comandante delle truppe di frontiera, e tutti gli ufficiali del re di Babilonia,
14 had Jeremiah taken out of the quarters of the guard, and entrusted to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to be brought home. 15 While Jeremiah was still imprisoned in the quarters of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him:	15 Ora la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia, mentre era prigioniero nel cortile della guardia, in questi termini:
16 Go, tell this to Ebed-melech the Cushite: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am now fulfilling the words I spoke against this city, for evil and not for good; and this before your very eyes.	16 "Va' e di' a Ebed-Melech, l'etiope: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: Ecco, io sto per compiere le mie parole di sventura e non di felicità contro questa città; esse si realizzeranno sotto i tuoi occhi in quel giorno.
17 But on that day I will rescue you, says the LORD; you shall not be handed over to the men of whom you are afraid.	17 Ma io ti salverò in quel giorno, oracolo del Signore, e non sarai consegnato in mano degli uomini di cui tu temi la presenza.
18 I will make certain that you escape and do not fall by the sword. Your life shall be spared as booty, because you trusted in me, says the LORD.	18 Sì, certo, ti scamperò e non cadrai di spada, ma la tua vita sarà per te il tuo bottino, perché confidasti in me". Oracolo del Signore.
