Jeremiah 33

1 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time while he was still imprisoned in the quarters of the guard:	1 Pela segunda vez, enquanto Jeremias ainda estava detido no átrio da prisão, foi-lhe dirigida a palavra do Senhor nestes termos:
2 Thus says the LORD who made the earth and gave it form and firmness, whose name is LORD:	2 Eis o que diz o Senhor que criou {a terra}, que a modelou e consolidou e cujo nome é Javé:
3 Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell to you things great beyond reach of your knowledge.	3 invoca-me, e te responderei, revelando-te grandes coisas misteriosas que ignoras.
4 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the palaces of Judah's kings, which are being destroyed in the face of siegeworks and the sword:	4 Portanto, eis o que diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel, a propósito das casas da cidade e dos palácios dos reis de Judá que foram demolidos para dar lugar às fortificações e às armas dos caldeus,
5 men come to battle the Chaldeans, and these houses will be filled with the corpses of those whom I slay in my anger and wrath, when I hide my face from this city for all their wickedness.	5 vindos para combater, e para enchê-las de cadáveres dos homens que firo em minha cólera, e por cuja malícia desviei minha face dessa cidade.
6 Behold, I will treat and assuage the city's wounds; I will heal them, and reveal to them an abundance of lasting peace.	6 Vou pensar-lhes as feridas e curá-las, e proporcionar-lhes abundância de felicidade e segurança.
7 I will change the lot of Judah and the lot of Israel, and rebuild them as of old.	7 Transformarei a sorte de Judá e de Israel, e fá-los-ei voltar ao que eram outrora.
8 I will cleanse them of all the guilt they incurred by sinning against me; all their offenses by which they sinned and rebelled against me, I will forgive.	8 Purificá-los-ei de todos os pecados que contra mim cometeram, e lhes perdoarei todas as iniqüidades de que se tornaram culpados, revoltando-se contra mim.
9 Then Jerusalem shall be my joy, my praise, my glory, before all the nations of the earth, as they hear of all the good I will do among them. They shall be in fear and trembling over all the peaceful benefits I will give her.	9 Será para mim motivo de alegria, felicidade e glória diante de todas as nações da terra, o saberem todo o bem com que agraciei meu povo. Ficarão tomadas de receio e temor por causa desse bem e da prosperidade de que vou cumulá-lo.
10 Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, "How desolate it is, without man, without beast!" and in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are now deserted, without man, without citizen, without beast, there shall yet be heard	10 Eis o que diz o Senhor: neste lugar, do qual dizeis que não passa de um deserto sem homens nem animais; nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém devastadas, onde homem algum habita, nem um animal se encontra, ouvir-se-ão novamente
11 the cry of joy, the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, the voice of the bride, the sound of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, singing, "Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good; his mercy endures forever." For I will restore this country as of old, says the LORD.	11 gritos de alegria, cânticos de júbilo, a voz do esposo e da esposa, aclamações daqueles que cantarão: louvai o Senhor dos exércitos, pois que ele é bom e eterna a sua misericórdia, ao apresentarem no templo seus sacrifícios de ação de graças, pois que restituirei a terra tal qual era outrora - oráculo do Senhor.
12 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place, now desolate, without man or beast, and in all its cities there shall again be sheepfolds for the shepherds to couch their flocks.	12 Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Neste lugar que é deserto, sem homens nem animais, e em todas as suas cidades, haverá novamente abrigos para os pastores que apascentarão seus rebanhos.
13 In the cities of the hill country, of the foothills, and of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin and the suburbs of Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.	13 Nas cidades das montanhas, nas da planície e nas do Negeb, na terra de Benjamim, nos arredores de Jerusalém e nas cidades de Judá hão de passar ainda rebanhos pela mão do que os conta - oráculo do Senhor.
14 The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah.	14 Eis que outros dias virão.
15 In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land.	15 E nesses dias e nesses tempos farei nascer de Davi um rebento justo que exercerá o direito e a eqüidade na terra.
16 In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: "The LORD our justice."	16 Naqueles dias e naqueles tempos viverá Jerusalém em segurança e será chamada Javé-nossa-justiça.
17 For thus says the LORD: Never shall David lack a successor on the throne of the house of Israel,	17 Porque diz o Senhor: Não faltará jamais a Davi um sucessor para ocupar o trono da Casa de Israel.
18 nor shall priests of Levi ever be lacking, to offer holocausts before me, to burn cereal offerings, and to sacrifice victims.This word of the LORD also came to Jeremiah:	18 E, diante de mim, não faltarão jamais descendentes aos sacerdotes e aos levitas para oferecer os holocaustos, queimar as oferendas e celebrar o sacrifício cotidiano.
19 Thus says the LORD:	19 Nestes termos foi a palavra do Senhor dirigida a Jeremias:
20 If you can break my covenant with day, and my covenant with night, so that day and night no longer alternate in sequence,	20 Eis o que disse o Senhor: se puderdes romper o meu pacto com o dia e a noite, de sorte que dia e noite não surjam no devido tempo,
21 then can my covenant with my servant David also be broken, so that he will not have a son to be king upon his throne, and my covenant with the priests of Levi who minister to me.	21 então poderá ser rompido o pacto que fiz com Davi, meu servo, e não terá ele filho que lhe ocupe o trono, e com os sacerdotes e levitas, meus ministros.
22 Like the host of heaven which cannot be numbered, and the sands of the sea which cannot be counted, I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.	22 À semelhança do exército celestial, que se não pode enumerar, e como a areia do mar, que se não pode medir, assim multiplicarei a posteridade de Davi, meu servo, e os levitas, meus ministros.
23 This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:	23 Foi a palavra do Senhor dirigida a Jeremias nestes termos:
24 Have you not noticed what these people are saying: "The LORD has rejected the two tribes which he had chosen"? They spurn my people as if it were no longer a nation in their eyes.	24 Não reparaste nas palavras que proferem esses homens? As duas famílias, dizem eles, que pelo Senhor haviam sido eleitas, foram por ele repelidas! É assim que desprezam meu povo, a ponto de, a seus olhos, não constituir mais uma nação.
25 Thus says the LORD: When I have no covenant with day and night, and have given no laws to heaven and earth,	25 Eis o que diz o Senhor: se não firmei pacto com o dia e a noite, nem regulei as leis do céu e da terra,
26 then too will I reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers for the race of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will change their lot and show them mercy.	26 então poderei rejeitar a raça de Jacó e de Davi, meu servo, e abster-me de escolher da sua descendência os chefes para a raça de Abraão, de Isaac e de Jacó! Pois hei de lhes melhorar a sorte, e deles me apiedarei.
