1 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time while he was still imprisoned in the quarters of the guard:	1 E la parola del Signore fu indirizzata la seconda volta a Geremia, mentre egli era ancora rinchiuso nel cortile della prigione, dicendo:
2 Thus says the LORD who made the earth and gave it form and firmness, whose name is LORD:	2 Così ha detto il Signore, che fa questa cosa; il Signore, che la forma, per istabilirla; il cui Nome è: Il Signore:
3 Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell to you things great beyond reach of your knowledge.	3 Grida a me, ed io ti risponderò, e ti dichiarerò cose grandi, e riserbate, che tu non sai.
4 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the palaces of Judah's kings, which are being destroyed in the face of siegeworks and the sword:	4 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore Iddio d’Israele, delle case di questa città, e delle case del re di Giuda, che sono state diroccate per li terrapieni, e per le macchine;
5 men come to battle the Chaldeans, and these houses will be filled with the corpses of those whom I slay in my anger and wrath, when I hide my face from this city for all their wickedness.	5 le quali sono state impiegate per combattere co’ Caldei, e per empierle di corpi morti d’uomini; perciocchè io li ho percossi nella mia ira, e nel mio cruccio; e perchè io ho nascosta la mia faccia da questa città, per tutta la lor malvagità:
6 Behold, I will treat and assuage the city's wounds; I will heal them, and reveal to them an abundance of lasting peace.	6 Ecco, io ristorerò, e rifarò questa città e riparerò queste case, e farò loro apparire abbondanza di pace, e di stabilità.
7 I will change the lot of Judah and the lot of Israel, and rebuild them as of old.	7 E ritrarrò di cattività Giuda ed Israele, e li riedificherò come erano prima;
8 I will cleanse them of all the guilt they incurred by sinning against me; all their offenses by which they sinned and rebelled against me, I will forgive.	8 e li purgherò di tutta la loro iniquità, per la quale hanno peccato contro a me; e perdonerò loro tutte le loro iniquità, per le quali hanno peccato contro a me; e per le quali hanno misfatto contro a me.
9 Then Jerusalem shall be my joy, my praise, my glory, before all the nations of the earth, as they hear of all the good I will do among them. They shall be in fear and trembling over all the peaceful benefits I will give her.	9 E questa città mi sarà in nome di gioia, in lode, e in gloria appresso tutte le nazioni della terra, che udiranno tutto il bene che io farò loro; e saranno spaventate, e tremeranno per tutto il bene, e per tutta la pace, della quale io la farò godere
10 Thus says the LORD: In this place of which you say, "How desolate it is, without man, without beast!" and in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are now deserted, without man, without citizen, without beast, there shall yet be heard	10 Così ha detto il Signore: In questo luogo, del quale voi dite: Egli è deserto, e non vi è più nè uomo, nè bestia; nelle città di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, che sono desolate, senza che vi sia più nè uomo, nè abitante, nè bestia;
11 the cry of joy, the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, the voice of the bride, the sound of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, singing, "Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good; his mercy endures forever." For I will restore this country as of old, says the LORD.	11 ancora sarà udita voce di gioia, e voce di allegrezza; voce di sposo, e voce di sposa; voce di persone che diranno: Celebrate il Signor degli eserciti; perciocchè il Signore è buono; perciocchè la sua benignità è in eterno; porteranno offerte di lode alla Casa del Signore; perciocchè io trarrò di cattività il paese, e lo rimetterò nello stato ch’era prima, ha detto il Signore.
12 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In this place, now desolate, without man or beast, and in all its cities there shall again be sheepfolds for the shepherds to couch their flocks.	12 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: In questo luogo, che è deserto, e dove non vi sono più nè uomini, nè bestie; e in tutte le sue città, vi saranno ancora mandre di pastori, che vi faranno posar le gregge.
13 In the cities of the hill country, of the foothills, and of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin and the suburbs of Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.	13 Nelle città del monte, e nelle città del piano, e nelle città del Mezzodì, e nel paese di Beniamino, e ne’ luoghi circonvicini di Gerusalemme, e nelle città di Giuda, le pecore passeranno ancora sotto la mano di colui che le conta, da detto il Signore.
14 The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah.	14 Ecco, i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che io metterò ad effetto la buona parola, che io ho pronunziata alla casa d’Israele, ed alla casa di Giuda.
15 In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land.	15 In que’ giorni, e in quel tempo, io farò germogliare a Davide il Germoglio di giustizia, il quale farà giudicio e giustizia nella terra.
16 In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: "The LORD our justice."	16 In que’ giorni Giuda sarà salvato, e Gerusalemme abiterà in sicurtà; e questo è il nome, del quale ella si chiamerà: IL SIGNORE È LA NOSTRA GIUSTIZIA
17 For thus says the LORD: Never shall David lack a successor on the throne of the house of Israel,	17 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Giammai non verrà meno a Davide, uomo che segga sopra il trono della casa d’Israele;
18 nor shall priests of Levi ever be lacking, to offer holocausts before me, to burn cereal offerings, and to sacrifice victims.This word of the LORD also came to Jeremiah:	18 ed a’ sacerdoti Leviti non verrà giammai meno nel mio cospetto, uomo che offerisca olocausto, e che faccia profumo d’offerta, e che faccia sacrificio tutti i giorni.
19 Thus says the LORD:	19 La parola del Signore fu ancora indirizzata a Geremia, dicendo:
20 If you can break my covenant with day, and my covenant with night, so that day and night no longer alternate in sequence,	20 Così ha detto il Signore: Se voi potete annullare il mio patto intorno al giorno, e il mio patto intorno alla notte, sì che il giorno e la notte non sieno più al tempo loro;
21 then can my covenant with my servant David also be broken, so that he will not have a son to be king upon his throne, and my covenant with the priests of Levi who minister to me.	21 ei si potrà altresì annullare il mio patto con Davide, mio servitore, sì ch’egli non abbia più figliuolo che regni sopra il suo trono; e co’ sacerdoti Leviti miei ministri.
22 Like the host of heaven which cannot be numbered, and the sands of the sea which cannot be counted, I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.	22 Perciocchè, come l’esercito del cielo non si può annoverare, e la rena del mare non si può misurare; così accrescerò la progenie di Davide, mio servitore, e i Leviti che fanno il servigio.
23 This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:	23 La parola del Signore fu ancora indirizzata a Geremia, dicendo:
24 Have you not noticed what these people are saying: "The LORD has rejected the two tribes which he had chosen"? They spurn my people as if it were no longer a nation in their eyes.	24 Non hai tu posta mente a ciò che questo popolo ha pronunziato, dicendo: Il Signore ha riprovate le due nazioni, ch’egli avea elette? laonde sprezzano il mio popolo, come se non dovesse mai più esser nazione nel lor cospetto.
25 Thus says the LORD: When I have no covenant with day and night, and have given no laws to heaven and earth,	25 Così ha detto il Signore: Se io non ho stabilito il mio patto intorno al giorno, ed alla notte, e gli statuti del cielo, e della terra;
26 then too will I reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers for the race of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will change their lot and show them mercy.	26 io altresì riproverò la progenie di Giacobbe, e di Davide, mio servitore; per non prender più del suo legnaggio persone che signoreggino sopra la progenie di Abrahamo, d’Isacco, e di Giacobbe; perciocchè io li ritrarrò di cattività, e avrò pietà di loro
