Isaiah 24

1 Lo, the LORD empties the land and lays it waste; he turns it upside down, scattering its inhabitants:	1 He aquí que Yahveh estraga la tierra, la despuebla, trastorna su superficie y dispersa a los habitantes de ella:
2 Layman and priest alike, servant and master, The maid as her mistress, the buyer as the seller, The lender as the borrower, the creditor as the debtor.	2 al pueblo como al sacerdote; al siervo como al señor; a la criada como a su señora; al que compra como al que vende; al que presta como al prestatario; al acreedor como a su deudor.
3 The earth is utterly laid waste, utterly stripped, for the LORD has decreed this thing.	3 Devastada será la tierra y del todo saqueada, porque así ha hablado Yahveh.
4 The earth mourns and fades, the world languishes and fades; both heaven and earth languish.	4 En duelo se marchitó la tierra, se amustia, se marchita el orbe, el cielo con la tierra se marchita.
5 The earth is polluted because of its inhabitants, who have transgressed laws, violated statutes, broken the ancient covenant.	5 La tierra ha sido profanada bajo sus habitantes, pues traspasaron las leyes, violaron el precepto, rompieron la alianza eterna.
6 Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants pay for their guilt; Therefore they who dwell on earth turn pale, and few men are left.	6 Por eso una maldición ha devorado la tierra, y tienen la culpa los que habitan en ella. Por eso han sido consumidos los habitantes de la tierra, y quedan pocos del linaje humano.
7 The wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted groan.	7 El mosto estaba triste, la viña mustia: se trocaron en suspiros todas las alegrías del corazón.
8 Stilled are the cheerful timbrels, ended the shouts of the jubilant, stilled is the cheerful harp.	8 Cesó el alborozo de los tímpanos, suspendióse el estrépito de los alegres, cesó el alborozo del arpa.
9 They cannot sing and drink wine; strong drink is bitter to those who partake of it.	9 No beben vino cantando: amarga el licor a sus bebedores.
10 Broken down is the city of chaos, shut against entry, every house.	10 Ha quedado la villa vacía, ha sido cerrada toda casa, y no se puede entrar.
11 In the streets they cry out for lack of wine; all joy has disappeared and cheer has left the land.	11 Se lamentan en las calles por el vino. Desapareció toda alegría, emigró el alborozo de la tierra.
12 In the city nothing remains but ruin; its gates are battered and desolate.	12 Ha quedado en la ciudad soledad, y de desolación está herida la puerta.
13 Thus it is within the land, and among the peoples, As with an olive tree after it is beaten, as with a gleaning when the vintage is done.	13 Porque en medio de la tierra, en mitad de los pueblos, pasa como en el vareo del olivo, como en los rebuscos cuando acaba la vendimia.
14 These lift up their voice in acclaim; from the sea they proclaim the majesty of the LORD:	14 Ellos levantan su voz y lanzan hurras; la majestad de Yahveh aclaman desde el mar.
15 "For this, in the coastlands, give glory to the LORD! In the coastlands of the sea, to the name of the LORD, the God of Israel!"	15 Por eso, en Oriente glorificad a Yahveh, en las islas del mar el nombre de Yahveh, Dios de Israel.
16 From the end of the earth we hear songs: "Splendor to the Just One!" But I said, "I am wasted, wasted away. Woe is me! The traitors betray: with treachery have the traitors betrayed!	16 Desde el confín de la tierra cánticos hemos oído: «¡Gloria al justo!» Y digo: «¡Menguado de mí, menguado de mí! ¡Ay de mí, y de estos malvados que hacen maldad, los maldados que han consumado la maldad!»
17 Terror, pit, and trap are upon you, inhabitant of the earth;	17 ¡Pánico, hoya y trampa contra ti, morador de la tierra!
18 He who flees at the sound of terror will fall into the pit; He who climbs out of the pit will be caught in the trap. For the windows on high will be opened and the foundations of the earth will shake.	18 Sucederá que el que escape del pánico, caerá en la hoya, y el que suba de la hoya, será preso en la trampa. Porque las esclusas de lo alto han sido abiertas, y se estremecen los cimientos de la tierra,
19 The earth will burst asunder, the earth will be shaken apart, the earth will be convulsed.	19 Estalla, estalla la tierra, se hace pedazos la tierra, sacudida se bambolea la tierra,
20 The earth will reel like a drunkard, and it will sway like a hut; Its rebellion will weigh it down, until it falls, never to rise again."	20 vacila, vacila la tierra como un beodo, se balancea como una cabaña; pesa sobre ella su rebeldía, cae, y no volverá a levantarse.
21 On that day the LORD will punish the host of the heavens in the heavens, and the kings of the earth on the earth.	21 Aquel día castigará Yahveh al ejército de lo alto en lo alto y a los reyes de la tierra en la tierra;
22 They will be gathered together like prisoners into a pit; They will be shut up in a dungeon, and after many days they will be punished.	22 serán amontonados en montón los prisioneros en el pozo, serán encerrados en la cárcel y al cabo de muchos días serán visitados.
23 Then the moon will blush and the sun grow pale, For the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, glorious in the sight of his elders.	23 Se afrentará la luna llena, se avergonzará el pleno sol, cuando reine Yahveh Sebaot en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, y esté la Gloria en presencia de sus ancianos.
