1 The clear vault of the sky shines forth like heaven itself, a vision of glory.	1 L'alto firmamento è sua be lezza. L'aspetto del cielo ne fa vedere la gloria,
2 The orb of the sun, resplendent at its rising: what a wonderful work of the Most High!	2 Il sole al suo apparire si proclama, coll'uscir fuori, maraviglioso strumento, opera dell'Altissimo.
3 At noon it seethes the surface of the earth, and who can bear its fiery heat?	3 Al mezzogiorno arroventa la terra: chi potrà reggere dinanzi ai suoi ardori? Come chi mantiene la fornace pei lavori a fuoco,
4 Like a blazing furnace of solid metal, it sets the mountains aflame with its rays; By its fiery darts the land is consumed; the eyes are dazzled by its light.	4 tre volte di più, il sole brucia le montagne, vibrando raggi di fuoco, e col fulgore dei suoi raggi abbacina gli occhi.
5 Great indeed is the LORD who made it, at whose orders it urges on its steeds.	5 Grande è il Signore che l'ha fatto: al suo comando egli accelera la sua corsa.
6 The moon, too, that marks the changing times, governing the seasons, their lasting sign,	6 E la luna, con tutte (le sue fasi) a suo tempo, indica i tempi e segna l'età.
7 By which we know the feast days and fixed dates, this light-giver which wanes in its course:	7 Dalla luna (viene) il segno della festa, dal luminare che, arrivato alla pienezza, decresce
8 As its name says, each month it renews itself; how wondrous in this change!	8 Il mese ha preso il nome da lei, che cresce mirabilmente fino ad esser piena.
9 The beauty, the glory, of the heavens are the stars that adorn with their sparkling the heights of God,	9 Un esercito è nel più alto dei cieli, risplende gloriosamente nel firmamento celeste.
10 At whose command they keep their place and never relax in their vigils. A weapon against the flood waters stored on high, lighting up the firmament by its brilliance,	10 Lo splendore delle stelle è la bellezza del cielo, dalle altezze più sublimi il Signore illumina il mondo.
11 Behold the rainbow! Then bless its Maker, for majestic indeed is its splendor;	11 Secondo la parola del Santo stanno al posto assegnato, e non si stancano nelle loro veglie.
12 It spans the heavens with its glory, this bow bent by the mighty hand of God.	12 Mira l'arcobaleno e benedici chi l'ha fatto: è molto bello nel suo splendore.
13 His rebuke marks out the path for the lightning, and speeds the arrows of his judgment to their goal.	13 Fa il giro del cielo col suo cerchio di gloria: lo han disteso le mani dell'Altissimo.
14 At it the storehouse is opened, and like vultures the clouds hurry forth.	14 Col suo comando fa precipitar la neve, si affretta a lanciar i fulmini del suo giudizio.
15 In his majesty he gives the storm its power and breaks off the hailstones.	15 A tal fine si aprono i ripostigli, e le nuvole volan via come uccelli.
16 The thunder of his voice makes the earth writhe; before his might the mountains quake.	16 Colla sua gran potenza addensa le nubi, e se ne staccano le pietre della grandine.
17 A word from him drives on the south wind, the angry north wind, the hurricane and the storm.	17 Davanti a lui tremeranno i monti, per suo volere soffierà il vento australe.
18 He sprinkles the snow like fluttering birds; it comes to settle like swarms of locusts.	18 Il rumore del suo tuono percoterà la terra, così il turbine aquilonare e il confluir vorticoso dei venti.
19 Its shining whiteness blinds the eyes, the mind is baffled by its steady fall.	19 Fa spandere la neve come uccelli che calano a riposarsi, essa discende come locusta che tutto ricopre.
20 He scatters frost like so much salt; it shines like blossoms on the thornbush.	20 L'occhio ne ammirerà il candore e il cuore si spaventerà per il fioccar di lei.
21 Cold northern blasts he sends that turn the ponds to lumps of ice. He freezes over every body of water, and clothes each pool with a coat of mail.	21 Egli spanderà come sale sulla terra la brina, la quale, ghiacciata, diventerà come punte di triboli.
22 When the mountain growth is scorched with heat, and the flowering plains as though by flames,	22 Al soffiar del freddo vento aquilonare l'acqua si congela in cristallo, che si posa sopra ogni ammasso d'acque e si riveste di acqua come di corazza.
23 The dripping clouds restore them all, and the scattered dew enriches the parched land.	23 Egli divora i monti e brucia i deserti, secca ogni verdura come il fuoco.
24 His is the plan that calms the deep, and plants the islands in the sea.	24 Il rimedio a tutto ciò è il subito apparir d'una nuvola, e la rugiada che, venendo dal calore contrario, lo fa diminuire.
25 Those who go down to the sea tell part of its story, and when we hear them we are thunderstruck;	25 Ad una sua parola tace il vento, al suo pensiero si placa l'abisso, nel quale il Signore pianta le isole.
26 In it are his creatures, stupendous, amazing, all kinds of life, and the monsters of the deep.	26 Quelli che corrono il mare ne raccontino i pericoli, e, sentendoli coi nostri orecchi, ne resteremo stupefatti.
27 For him each messenger succeeds, and at his bidding accomplishes his will.	27 Ivi splendide opere e maraviglie, varie specie di bestie, animali d'ogni sorta e creature mostruose.
28 More than this we need not add; let the last word be, he is all in all!	28 Per lui è assicurato lo scopo del viaggio, alla sua parola tutto si mette in ordine.
29 Let us praise him the more, since we cannot fathom him, for greater is he than all his works;	29 Diremo molte cose e le parole ci mancheranno, ma la conclusione del discorso è: Egli è in tutto.
30 Awful indeed is the LORD'S majesty, and wonderful is his power.	30 Per glorificarlo che potremo fare? Egli infatti, l'onnipotente, è superiore a tutte le sue opere.
31 Lift up your voices to glorify the LORD, though he is still beyond your power to praise;	31 Il Signore è terribile ed oltremodo grande, e la sua potenza è maravigliosa.
32 Extol him with renewed strength, and weary not, though you cannot reach the end:	32 Glorificate pure il Signore quanto potete, chè Egli sarà sempre al di sopra, ed è mirabile la sua magnificenza.
33 For who can see him and describe him? or who can praise him as he is?	33 Benedicendo il Signore, esaltatelo quanto potete, perchè Egli è maggiore d'ogni lode.
34 Beyond these, many things lie hid; only a few of his works have we seen.	34 Per esaltarlo riempitevi di forza e non vi stancate, chè non arriverete mai.
35 It is the LORD who has made all things, and to those who fear him he gives wisdom.	35 Chi lo potrà vedere per descriverlo? Chi lo potrà lodare com'è ab eterno?
	36 Molte (sue opere) nascoste son maggiori di queste: abbiamo visto ben poco delle sue opere.
	37 Ma tutto ha fatto il Signore, ed Egli dà la sapienza a chi vive piamente.
