Sirach 24

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	BIBLIA
1 Wisdom sings her own praises, before her own people she proclaims her glory;	1 La sabiduría hace su propio elogio, en medio de su pueblo, se gloría.
2 In the assembly of the Most High she opens her mouth, in the presence of his hosts she declares her worth:	2 En la asamblea del Altísimo abre su boca, delante de su poder se gloría.
3 "From the mouth of the Most High I came forth, and mistlike covered the earth.	3 «Yo salí de la boca del Altísimo, y cubrí como niebla la tierra.
4 In the highest heavens did I dwell, my throne on a pillar of cloud.	4 Yo levanté mi tienda en las alturas, y mi trono era una columna de nube.
5 The vault of heaven I compassed alone, through the deep abyss I wandered.	5 Sola recorrí la redondez del cielo, y por la hondura de los abismos paseé.
6 Over waves of the sea, over all the land, over every people and nation I held sway.	6 Las ondas del mar, la tierra entera, todo pueblo y nación era mi dominio.
7 Among all these I sought a resting place; in whose inheritance should I abide?	7 Entre todas estas cosas buscaba reposo, una heredad en que instalarme.
8 "Then the Creator of all gave me his command, and he who formed me chose the spot for my tent, Saying, 'In Jacob make your dwelling, in Israel your inheritance.'	8 Entonces me dio orden el creador del universo, el que me creó dio reposo a mi tienda, y me dijo: “Pon tu tienda en Jacob, entra en la heredad de Israel.”
9 Before all ages, in the beginning, he created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be.	9 Antes de los siglos, desde el principio, me creó, y por los siglos subsistiré.
10 In the holy tent I ministered before him, and in Zion I fixed my abode.	10 En la Tienda Santa, en su presencia, he ejercido el ministerio, así en Sión me he afirmado,
11 Thus in the chosen city he has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain.	11 en la ciudad amada me ha hecho él reposar , y en Jerusalén se halla mi poder.
12 I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of the LORD, his heritage.	12 He arraigado en un pueblo glorioso, en la porción del Señor, en su heredad.
13 "Like a cedar on Lebanon I am raised aloft, like a cypress on Mount Hermon,	13 Como cedro me he elevado en el Líbano, como ciprés en el monte del Hermón.
14 Like a palm tree in En-gedi, like a rosebush in Jericho, Like a fair olive tree in the field, like a plane tree growing beside the water.	14 Como palmera me he elevado en Engadí, como plantel de rosas en Jericó, como gallardo olivo en la llanura, como plátano me he elevado.
15 Like cinnamon, or fragrant balm, or precious myrrh, I give forth perfume; Like galbanum and onycha and sweet spices, like the odor of incense in the holy place.	15 Cual cinamomo y aspálato aromático he dado fragancia, cual mirra exquisita he dado buen olor, como gálbano y ónice y estacte, como nube de incienso en la Tienda.
16 I spread out my branches like a terebinth, my branches so bright and so graceful.	16 Cual terebinto he alargado mis ramas, y mis ramas son ramas de gloria y de gracia.
17 I bud forth delights like the vine, my blossoms become fruit fair and rich.	17 Como la vid he hecho germinar la gracia, y mis flores son frutos de gloria y riqueza.
18 Come to me, all you that yearn for me, and be filled with my fruits;
19 You will remember me as sweeter than honey, better to have than the honeycomb.	19 Venid a mí los que me deseáis, y hartaos de mis productos.
20 He who eats of me will hunger still, he who drinks of me will thirst for more;	20 Que mi recuerdo es más dulce que la miel, mi heredad más dulce que panal de miel.
21 He who obeys me will not be put to shame, he who serves me will never fail."	21 Los que me comen quedan aún con hambre de mí, los que me beben sienten todavía sed.
22 All this is true of the book of the Most High's covenant, the law which Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the community of Jacob.	22 Quien me obedece a mí, no queda avergonzado, los que en mí se ejercitan, no llegan a pecar».
23 It overflows, like the Pishon, with wisdom-- like the Tigris in the days of the new fruits.	23 Todo esto es el libro de la alianza del Dios Altísimo, la Ley que nos prescribió Moisés como herencia para las asambleas de Jacob;
24 It runs over, like the Euphrates, with understanding, like the Jordan at harvest time.
25 It sparkles like the Nile with knowledge, like the Gihon at vintage time.	25 la que inunda de sabiduría como el Pisón, como el Tigris en días de frutos nuevos;
26 The first man never finished comprehending wisdom, nor will the last succeed in fathoming her.	26 la que desborda inteligencia como el Eufrates, como el Jordán en días de cosecha;
27 For deeper than the sea are her thoughts; her counsels, than the great abyss.	27 la que rebosa doctrina como el Nilo, como el Guijón en días de vendimia.
28 Now I, like a rivulet from her stream, channeling the waters into a garden,	28 El primero no ha acabado aún de conocerla, como tampoco el último la ha descubierto aún.
29 Said to myself, "I will water my plants, my flower bed I will drench"; And suddenly this rivulet of mine became a river, then this stream of mine, a sea.	29 Porque es más vasto que el mar su pensamiento, y su consejo más que el gran abismo.
30 Thus do I send my teachings forth shining like the dawn, to become known afar off.	30 Y yo, como canal derivado de un río, como caz que al paraíso sale,
31 Thus do I pour out instruction like prophecy and bestow it on generations to come.	31 y dije: «Voy a regar mi huerto, a empapar mi tablar». Y que aquí que mi canal se ha convertido en río, y mi río se ha hecho un mar.
	32 Aún haré lucir como la aurora la instrucción, lo más lejos posible la daré a conocer.
