NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
A song of ascents. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From where will my help come?1 [Song of Ascents] I lift up my eyes to the mountains; where is my help to come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.2 My help comes from Yahweh who made heaven and earth.
God will not allow your foot to slip; your guardian does not sleep.3 May he save your foot from stumbling; may he, your guardian, not fall asleep!
Truly, the guardian of Israel never slumbers nor sleeps.4 You see -- he neither sleeps nor slumbers, the guardian of Israel.
The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is your shade at your righthand.5 Yahweh is your guardian, your shade, Yahweh, at your right hand.
By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the moon by night.6 By day the sun will not strike you, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will guard you from all evil, will always guard your life.7 Yahweh guards you from al harm Yahweh guards your life,
The LORD will guard your coming and going both now and forever.8 Yahweh guards your comings and goings, henceforth and for ever.
