NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
With violet, purple and scarlet yarn were woven the service cloths for use in the sanctuary, as well as the sacred vestments for Aaron, as the LORD had commanded Moses.1 From the violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials, they made the liturgical vestments forservice in the sanctuary. They made the sacred vestments for Aaron, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
The ephod was woven of gold thread and of violet, purple and scarlet yarn and of fine linen twined.2 They made the ephod of gold, of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely wovenlinen.
Gold was first hammered into gold leaf and then cut up into threads, which were woven with the violet, purple and scarlet yarn into an embroidered pattern on the fine linen.3 They beat gold into thin plates and cut these into threads to work into the violet-purple, red-purple andcrimson materials and the fine linen by needlework.
Shoulder straps were made for it and joined to its two upper ends.4 For the ephod they made shoulder-straps which were joined to it at its two edges.
The embroidered belt on the ephod extended out from it, and like it, was made of gold thread, of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, and of fine linen twined, as the LORD had commanded Moses.5 The waistband on the ephod to hold it in position, was of a piece with it and of the same workmanship:of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and finely woven linen, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
The onyx stones were prepared and mounted in gold filigree work; they were engraved like seal engravings with the names of the sons of Israel.6 They worked the cornelians, mounted in gold setting, and engraved, like an engraved seal, with thenames of the sons of Israel,
These stones were set on the shoulder straps of the ephod as memorial stones of the sons of Israel, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.7 and put the stones on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, to commemorate the sons of Israel, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
The breastpiece was embroidered like the ephod, with gold thread and violet, purple and scarlet yarn on cloth of fine linen twined.8 They made the breastplate of the same embroidered work as the ephod: of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely woven linen.
It was square and folded double, a span high and a span wide in its folded form.9 It was square and doubled over, a span in length and a span in width.
Four rows of precious stones were mounted on it: in the first row a carnelian, a topaz and an emerald;10 In it they set four rows of stones: a sard, a topaz and an emerald, for the first row;
in the second row, a garnet, a sapphire and a beryl;11 for the second row, a garnet, a sapphire and a diamond;
in the third row a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst;12 for the third row, a hyacinth, a ruby and an amethyst;
in the fourth row a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. They were mounted in gold filigree work.13 and for the fourth row, a beryl, a cornelian and a jasper: mounted in gold settings,
These stones were twelve, to match the names of the sons of Israel, and each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.14 the stones corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve like their names, engraved likeseals, each with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
Chains of pure gold, twisted like cords, were made for the breastpiece,15 For the breastplate they made chains of pure gold twisted like cords,
together with two gold filigree rosettes and two gold rings. The two rings were fastened to the two upper ends of the breastpiece.16 and they made two gold rosettes and two gold rings, putting the two rings on the two outside edgesof the breastplate
The two gold chains were then fastened to the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece.17 and fastening the two gold cords to the two rings on the outside edges of the breastplate.
The other two ends of the two chains were fastened in front to the two filigree rosettes, which were attached to the shoulder straps of the ephod.18 The other two ends of the cords they fastened to the two rosettes, putting these on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, on the front.
Two other gold rings were made and put on the two lower ends of the breastpiece, on the edge facing the ephod.19 They also made two gold rings and put them on the two outside edges of the breastplate, on theinner side, against the ephod;
Two more gold rings were made and fastened to the bottom of the two shoulder straps next to where they joined the ephod in front, just above its embroidered belt.20 and they made two more gold rings and put them low down on the front of the two shoulder-straps ofthe ephod, close to the join, above the waistband of the ephod.
Violet ribbons bound the rings of the breastpiece to the rings of the ephod, so that the breastpiece stayed right above the embroidered belt of the ephod and did not swing loose from it. All this was just as the LORD had commanded Moses.21 They secured the pectoral by a violet-purple cord passed through its rings and those of the ephod, sothat the pectoral would sit above the waistband and not come apart from the ephod, as Yahweh had orderedMoses.
The robe of the ephod was woven entirely of violet yarn,22 They made the robe of the ephod woven entirely of violet-purple.
with an opening in its center like the opening of a shirt, with selvage around the opening to keep it from being torn.23 The opening in the centre of the robe was like the neck of a coat of mail; round the opening was aborder, so that it would not get torn.
At the hem of the robe pomegranates were made of violet, purple and scarlet yarn and of fine linen twined;24 On the lower hem of the robe, they made pomegranates of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson andfinely woven linen,
bells of pure gold were also made and put between the pomegranates all around the hem of the robe:25 and made bells of pure gold, putting the bel s between the pomegranates al round the lower hem ofthe robe:
first a bell, then a pomegranate, and thus alternating all around the hem of the robe which was to be worn in performing the ministry--all this, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.26 alternately, a bel and then a pomegranate, al round the lower hem of the robe of office, as Yahwehhad ordered Moses.
For Aaron and his sons there were also woven tunics of fine linen;27 They made the tunics of finely woven linen for Aaron and his sons,
the miter of fine linen; the ornate turbans of fine linen; drawers of linen (of fine linen twined);28 the turban of fine linen, the head-dresses of fine linen, the breeches of finely woven linen,
and sashes of variegated work made of fine linen twined and of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, as the LORD had commanded Moses.29 the waistbands of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
The plate of the sacred diadem was made of pure gold and inscribed, as on a seal engraving: "Sacred to the LORD."30 They also made the flower -- the symbol of holy consecration -- of pure gold and on it, like anengraved seal, they engraved, 'Consecrated to Yahweh'.
It was tied over the miter with a violet ribbon, as the LORD had commanded Moses.31 They put it on a violet-purple cord, to fasten it high up on the turban, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Thus the entire work of the Dwelling of the meeting tent was completed. The Israelites did the work just as the LORD had commanded Moses.32 So all the work for the Dwelling, for the Tent of Meeting, was completed. They had done everythingexactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
They then brought to Moses the Dwelling, the tent with all its appurtenances, the clasps, the boards, the bars, the columns, the pedestals,33 They then brought Moses the Dwel ing, the Tent and al its accessories: its clasps, frames, crossbars,poles and sockets;
the covering of rams' skins dyed red, the covering of tahash skins, the curtain veil;34 the cover of rams' skins dyed red, the cover of fine leather and the screening curtain;
the ark of the commandments with its poles, the propitiatory,35 the ark of the Testimony and its shafts, and the mercy-seat;
the table with all its appurtenances and the showbread,36 the table, all its accessories and the loaves of permanent offering;
the pure gold lampstand with its lamps set up on it and with all its appurtenances, the oil for the light,37 the lamp-stand of pure gold, its lamps -- the array of lamps -- and all its accessories, and the oil forthe light;
the golden altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense; the curtain for the entrance of the tent,38 the golden altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense and the screen for the entrance to the tent;
the altar of bronze with its bronze grating, its poles and all its appurtenances, the laver with its base,39 the bronze altar and its bronze grating, its shafts and all its accessories; the basin and its stand;
the hangings of the court with their columns and pedestals, the curtain for the entrance of the court with its ropes and tent pegs, all the equipment for the service of the Dwelling of the meeting tent;40 the curtaining for the court, its poles, its sockets, and the screen for the gateway to the court, itscords, its pegs and al the accessories for the service of the Dwel ing, for the Tent of Meeting;
the service cloths for use in the sanctuary, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, and the vestments to be worn by his sons in their ministry.41 the liturgical vestments for officiating in the sanctuary -- the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest,and the vestments for his sons -- for the priestly functions.
The Israelites had carried out all the work just as the LORD had commanded Moses.42 The Israelites had done al the work exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
So when Moses saw that all the work was done just as the LORD had commanded, he blessed them.43 Moses inspected all the work: they had indeed done it as Yahweh had ordered; and Moses blessedthem.
