2 Corinthians 2

1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.	1 Ritenni opportuno di non venire di nuovo tra voi nell'afflizione.
2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?	2 Perché se io affliggo voi, chi potrà rallegrarmi, tolto colui che viene da me afflitto?
3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.	3 Perciò vi ho scritto in quei termini, per non dover poi essere rattristato alla mia venuta da quelli che dovrebbero rendermi lieto, persuaso come sono, riguardo a tutti voi, che la mia gioia è la vostra.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.	4 Vi ho scritto invero in grande afflizione e col cuore angosciato, tra molte lacrime, non per rattristarvi, ma per farvi conoscere l'affetto immenso che vi porto.
5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.	5 Ché se qualcuno mi ha rattristato, non ha rattristato me, ma in parte almeno, per non dir di più, tutti voi;
6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.	6 è sufficiente per quel tale il castigo che gli è venuto dalla maggioranza,
7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.	7 onde adesso voi dovreste piuttosto usargli benevolenza e confortarlo, perché non soccomba sotto un dolore troppo forte.
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.	8 Vi esorto quindi a prendere una decisione di carità nei suoi riguardi.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.	9 Anche per questo vi ho scritto, per vedere alla prova la vostra virtù, se siete ubbidienti in tutto.
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;	10 A chi voi perdonate, perdono anch'io; poiché quello che io ho perdonato, se pure ebbi qualcosa da perdonare, l'ho fatto per voi, davanti a Cristo,
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.	11 per non cadere in balìa di Satana, le cui intenzioni sono ben note.
12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,	12 Giunto che fui a Troade per annunciare il vangelo di Cristo, sebbene mi fosse aperta una grande porta nel Signore,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.	13 non ebbi pace nello spirito perché non vi trovai il mio fratello Tito; perciò, congedatomi da loro, partii per la Macedonia.
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.	14 Ma siano rese grazie a Dio, il quale ci fa partecipare in ogni tempo al suo trionfo in Cristo, e diffonde per mezzo di noi il profumo della sua conoscenza nel mondo intero!
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:	15 Noi siamo infatti per Dio il profumo di Cristo tra quelli che si salvano e quelli che vanno in rovina;
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?	16 per gli uni odore di morte per la morte, e per gli altri odore di vita per la vita. E chi è all'altezza di questo compito?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.	17 Perché noi non siamo come i molti che trafficano la parola di Dio, ma parliamo in Cristo, davanti a Dio, con limpidezza, come inviati di Dio.
