1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.	1 - Se io parlassi le lingue degli uomini e degli angeli, e non avessi amore, non sarei che un bronzo risonante, o un cembalo squillante.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.	2 E se avessi il dono della profezia, e conoscessi tutti i misteri e tutta la scienza, e se avessi tutta la fede, sì da trasportar le montagne, e poi mancassi di amore, non sarei nulla.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.	3 E se anche sbocconcellassi a favor dei poveri tutto quel che ho, e dessi il mio corpo per esser arso, e non avessi amore, non ne avrei alcun giovamento.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,	4 L'amore è longanime, è benigno; l'amore non ha invidia; non agisce invano; non si gonfia;
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;	5 non è ambizioso; non è egoista, non s'irrita, non pensa il male;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;	6 non si compiace dell'ingiustizia, ma gode della verità;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.	7 soffre ogni cosa, ogni cosa crede, tutto spera, tutto sopporta.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.	8 L'amore non mai vien meno; sian le profezie, termineranno; sian le lingue, cesseranno; sia la scienza, finirà in nulla,
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.	9 poichè parzialmente conosciamo e parzialmente profetiamo,
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.	10 ma quando venga ciò che è perfetto, il parzialmente finirà.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.	11 Quand'ero bambino, parlavo come bambino, pensavo come bambino, ragionavo come bambino; ma fatto uomo, ho cessato i costumi del bambino.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.	12 In questo momento noi vediamo traverso uno specchio in enigma, allora vedremo faccia a faccia; ora io conosco parzialmente, allora conoscerò per intiero, come anch'io sono stato conosciuto.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.	13 Ora soltanto queste tre cose perdurano, fede, speranza e amore, ma la più grande di tutte è l'amore.
