1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:	1 - Così parlò Gesù. Poi, elevati gli occhi al cielo, disse: «Padre, l'ora è venuta: glorifica il tuo Figliuolo, affinchè il tuo Figliuolo glorifichi te;
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.	2 come tu gli hai dato ogni potere sopra ogni carne, affinchè dia la vita eterna a tutti coloro che tu gli hai dato.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.	3 E la vita eterna è questa, che conoscano te, solo vero Dio, e Colui che hai mandato, Gesù Cristo.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.	4 Io ti ho glorificato sulla terra, compiendo la missione che mi hai affidata da fare,
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.	5 ed ora tu, o Padre, glorificami presso te stesso con la gloria che ebbi presso di te, quando il mondo non era.
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.	6 Io ho manifestato il tuo nome agli uomini che mi hai dato nel mondo; erano tuoi e tu me li hai dati, ed essi hanno conservata la tua parola.
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.	7 Ora riconoscono che tutto quanto tu mi hai dato, viene da te,
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.	8 perchè le parole che mi hai date, io le ho date ad essi, e le hanno ricevute, riconoscendo veramente che io sono uscito da te e hanno creduto che tu mi hai mandato.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.	9 Io prego per loro; non prego per il mondo, ma per coloro che mi hai dati, perchè sono tuoi.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.	10 Ogni cosa mia è tua, e ogni cosa tua è mia, ed io sono glorificato in essi.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.	11 Io non sono più nel mondo, ma essi sono nel mondo, e io vengo a te, Padre santo; conserva nel tuo nome coloro che tu mi hai dato, affinchè siano uno come siamo noi. Quando ero con loro, li conservavo nel tuo nome.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.	12 Quelli che tu mi hai dato, li ho custoditi e nessuno di loro è perito, tranne il figlio di perdizione, e questo affinchè s'adempisse la Scrittura.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.	13 Ma ora io vengo a te e questo dico al mondo, affinchè abbiano in sè la pienezza del mio gaudio.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.	14 Io ho dato ad essi la tua parola, e il mondo li ha odiati, perchè non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.	15 Non domando che tu li tolga dal mondo, ma che li preservi dal male.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.	16 Essi non sono del mondo, come anch'io non sono del mondo.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.	17 Santificali nella verità; la tua parola è la verità.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.	18 Come tu hai mandato me nel mondo, così anch'io ho mandato loro nel mondo.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.	19 E per essi io santifico me stesso, affinchè anch'essi siano santificati nella verità.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;	20 E prego non solamente per essi, ma anche per quelli che, mediante la loro parola, crederanno in me,
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.	21 affinchè siano tutti uno; come tu, Padre, sei in me e io sono in te, anch'essi siano uno in noi, affinchè il mondo creda che tu mi hai mandato.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:	22 Io ho dato loro la gloria che tu hai dato a me, affinchè siano uno, come noi siamo uno;
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.	23 io in loro e tu in me, affinchè siano perfetti nell'unità e il mondo riconosca che tu mi hai mandato e che li hai amati, come hai amato me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.	24 Padre, io voglio che quelli che mi hai dati, dove sono io, siano anch'essi meco e veggano la mia gloria, che tu mi hai accordato, poichè tu mi hai amato prima ancora della creazione del mondo.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.	25 Padre giusto, il mondo non ti ha conosciuto; io però ti conobbi, e costoro hanno riconosciuto che tu mi hai mandato.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.	26 Io ho fatto loro conoscere il tuo nome e lo farò conoscere affinchè l'amore con cui mi hai amato sia in essi ed io in loro».
