1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.	1 In principio era il Verbo e il Verbo era presso Dio, e il Verbo era Dio.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.	2 Questo era in principio presso Dio.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.	3 Tutte le cose sono state fatte per mezzo di lui, e senza di lui nessuna delle cose create è stata fatta.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.	4 In lui era la vita, e la vita era la luce degli uomini.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.	5 E la luce splendè fra le tenebre, ma le tenebre non la compresero.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.	6 Ci fu un uomo mandato da Dio, il suo nome era Giovanni.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.	7 Egli venne come testimone, per attestare della luce, affinchè tutti credessero per mezzo di lui.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.	8 Non era lui la luce, ma venne per rendere testimonianza alla luce.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.	9 Era la vera luce che illumina ogni uomo che viene in questo mondo.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.	10 Era nel mondo e il mondo fu creato per mezzo di lui, ma il mondo non lo conobbe.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.	11 Venne in casa sua ed i suoi non lo ricevettero.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:	12 Ma a quanti lo accolsero diede il diritto di diventare figli di Dio;
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.	13 i quali non da sangue, nè da volere di carne, nè da volere di uomini, ma da Dio sono nati.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.	14 E il Verbo si è fatto carne ed abitò fra noi, e noi abbiamo contemplata la sua gloria: gloria come d'Unigenito del Padre, pieno di grazia e di verità.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.	15 Or Giovanni, rendendo testimonianza di lui, grida altamente: Questi era colui del quale vi dissi: chi verrà dopo di me, fu fatto avanti di me, perchè era prima di me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.	16 E dalla pienezza di lui noi tutti abbiamo ricevuto grazia sopra grazia.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.	17 Infatti da Mosè fu data la legge; da Gesù Cristo è venuta la grazia e la verità.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.	18 Nessuno ha mai veduto Dio; l'Unigenito Figlio che è nel seno del Padre, Egli stesso ce l'ha rivelato.
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?	19 E questa è la testimonianza di Giovanni, quando i Giudei di Gerusalemme gli mandarono dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per domandargli: Tu chi sei?
20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.	20 Ed egli confessò e non negò; e confessò: Non so no io il Cristo.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.	21 Ed essi gli domandarono: Chi sei dunque? Sei Elia? Ed egli: No. Sei tu il profeta? No, rispose.
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?	22 Allora gli dissero: E chi sei? affinchè possiamo render conto a chi ci ha mandati: che dici mai di te stesso?
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.	23 Rispose: Io sono la voce di colui che grida nel deserto: Raddrizzate la via del Signore, come ha detto il profeta Isaia.
24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.	24 Or quelli che erano stati inviati a lui erano dei Farisei;
25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?	25 e l'interrogarono dicendo: Come dunque tu battezzi, se non sei il Cristo, nè Elia, nè il profeta?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;	26 Giovanni rispose loro: Io battezzo coll'acqua, ma in mezzo a voi sta uno che voi non conoscete.
27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.	27 Questi è colui che verrà dopo di me, e che era avanti di me, ed a cui non son degno di sciogliere il legaccio dei calzari.
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.	28 Questo accadeva in Betania oltre il Giordano, dove Giovanni stava battezzando.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.	29 Il giorno dopo Giovanni vide Gesù venire a lui. ed esclamò: Ecco l'Agnello di Dio, ecco colui che toglie i peccati del mondo.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.	30 Egli è colui del quale ho detto: dopo di me viene uno che è avanti di me, perchè era prima di me.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.	31 Ed io non lo conoscevo; ma affinchè egli sia conosciuto in Israele, io venni a battezzare con acqua.
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.	32 E Giovanni rese la sua testimonianza dicendo: Ho veduto lo Spirito scendere dal cielo a guisa di colomba e posarsi su di lui.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.	33 Ed io nulla sapevo di lui; ma chi mi inviò a battezzare con acqua mi disse: Colui sul quale vedrai scendere e fermarsi lo Spirito, è colui che battezza con lo Spirito.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.	34 Ed io ho veduto, ed ho attestato che egli è il Figlio di Dio.
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;	35 Il giorno seguente, trovandosi di nuovo Giovanni con due suoi discepoli
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!	36 e mirando Gesù che passava, disse: Ecco l'Agnello di Dio.
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.	37 I due discepoli, avendo sentite queste parole, seguirono Gesù.
38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?	38 E Gesù, rivoltosi a guardare questi che lo seguivano, disse loro: Che cercate? Ed essi risposero a lui: Rabbi, che vuol dire Maestro, dove abiti?
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.	39 Ed egli a loro: Venite e vedrete. Andarono e videro dove abitava e rimasero con lui quel giorno. Era circa l'ora decima.
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.	40 Andrea, il fratello di Simon Pietro, era uno dei due che avevano udite le parole di Giovanni ed avevan seguito Gesù. «
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.	41 Il primo in cui s'imbattè fu suo fratello Simone, a cui disse: Abbiamo trovato il Messia, che tradotto vuol dire il Cristo;
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.	42 e lo menò da Gesù. E Gesù, fissatolo, disse: Tu sei Simone, figlio di Giona; tu sarai chiamato Cefa, che vuol dire Pietro.
43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.	43 Il giorno seguente Gesù decise di andare in Galilea; e, trovato Filippo, gli disse: Seguimi.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.	44 Filippo era di Betsaida, la città di Andrea e di Pietro.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.	45 E Filippo trovò Natanaele e gli disse: Abbiamo trovato colui del quale scrissero Mosè nella legge e i profeti, Gesù di Nazaret, figlio di Giuseppe.
46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.	46 E Natanaele gli rispose: Da Nazaret può mai uscire qualcosa di buono? Filippo gli replicò: Vieni e vedi.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!	47 Or Gesù, vedendo venirgli incontro Natanaele, disse a lui: Ecco un vero Israelita in cui non è frode.
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.	48 E Natanaele gli disse: Come mi conosci? Gesù rispose: Prima che Filippo ti chiamasse io t'ho visto quand'eri sotto il fico.
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.	49 Natanaele rispose: Maestro, tu sei il Figlio di Dio; tu sei il Re d'Israele!
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.	50 Gesù replicò: Per averti detto che ti ho veduto sotto il fico tu credi? Vedrai cose maggiori di queste.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.	51 Poi soggiunse: In verità, in verità vi dico, che vedrete il cielo aperto e gli Angeli di Dio salire e scendere sopra il Figlio dell'uomo.
