1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.	1 Une sentence contre l’Égypte: Yahvé est monté sur un nuage léger; voici qu’il arrive en Égypte et l’Égypte sent son cœur défaillir, les idoles d’Égypte tremblent devant lui.
2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.	2 Je vais dresser l’Égypte contre l’Égypte, on se battra entre frères, voisin contre voisin, ville contre ville, royaume contre royaume.
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.	3 Voici que l’Égypte ne sait plus que faire, j’ai brouillé sa clairvoyance. Ils s’en vont consulter les idoles, les magiciens, les sorciers et les devins.
4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.	4 Je vais livrer l’Égypte à un maître cruel, un tyran régnera sur eux - parole du Seigneur, Yahvé Sabaot.
5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.	5 Les eaux de la mer se perdent, le fleuve se tarit et se dessèche,
6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.	6 les rivières deviennent infectes, les fleuves d’Égypte baissent et se dessèchent, les roseaux et les joncs se flétrissent.
7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.	7 Toute l’herbe des bords du Nil, toutes les plantes semées au bord du Nil, se dessèchent, sont emportés, disparaissent.
8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.	8 Les pécheurs se lamentent, ceux qui jettent l’hameçon dans le Nil sont en deuil, ceux qui jettent leurs filets sur les eaux sont désespérés.
9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.	9 Déception pour ceux qui travaillent le lin! Ceux qui travaillent la toile blanche,
10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.	10 comme ceux qui la tissent, sont découragés; les ouvriers sont démoralisés.
11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellers of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?	11 Qu’ils sont bêtes les chefs de Soan, quel conseil stupide que ces sages conseillers du Pharaon! Comment pouvez-vous dire au Pharaon: “Nous sommes les fils des sages, les fils des rois d’autrefois?”
12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.	12 Où sont-ils donc tes sages? Qu’ils t’annoncent, qu’ils devinent ce que Yahvé Sabaot a décidé contre l’Égypte!
13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.	13 Les princes de Soan ont perdu le sens, les princes de Nof se trompent, les chefs de ses tribus égarent l’Égypte.
14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.	14 Yahvé a fait passer dans ce pays un esprit d’égarement; et voilà l’Égypte qui fait tout de travers, comme un homme ivre, tout hébété quand il vomit.
15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.	15 Rien ne profite plus à l’Égypte, que cela vienne de la tête ou de la queue, de la palme ou du jonc.
16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.	16 En ce jour-là l’Égypte sera comme une femme, tremblante, effrayée rien qu’à voir la main menaçante de Yahvé Sabaot.
17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.	17 Le pays de Juda fera peur à l’Égypte. Chaque fois qu’on parlera de lui elle tremblera en pensant aux menaces de Yahvé Sabaot.
18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.	18 En ce jour-là, cinq villes au pays d’Égypte parleront la langue de Canaan: on aura recours au nom de Yahvé Sabaot pour y prêter serment. L’une d’elle sera appelée ville du Soleil.
19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.	19 Ce jour-là il y aura en pleine terre d’Égypte un autel consacré à Yahvé et, près de la frontière, un monument dédié à Yahvé.
20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.	20 Il sera un signe et un témoin de Yahvé Sabaot dans le pays d’Égypte. Quand ils crieront vers lui au temps de l’oppression, il leur enverra un sauveur, un défenseur qui les délivrera.
21 And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.	21 Yahvé se fera connaître aux Égyptiens et les Égyptiens connaîtront Yahvé. Ils présenteront des sacrifices et des offrandes en l’honneur de Yahvé, ils feront des vœux et les accompliront.
22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.	22 Car Yahvé frappera l’Égypte, mais après l’avoir frappée il la guérira; ils reviendront à Yahvé, il entendra leurs prières et les guérira.
23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.	23 Ce jour-là une route mènera d’Égypte en Assyrie, l’Assyrie aura des relations avec l’Égypte et l’Égypte avec l’Assyrie, et l’Égypte, comme l’Assyrie, servira Yahvé.
24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:	24 En ce jour-là Israël se joindra comme un tiers à l’Égypte et à l’Assyrie, et ce sera une bénédiction dans le monde.
25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.	25 Yahvé Sabaot les bénira, il dira: “Bénie soit l’Égypte, mon peuple, et l’Assyrie, œuvre de mes mains, et Israël, mon héritage!”
