Proverbs 15

1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.	1 Une réponse aimable calme la fureur, une parole blessante fait monter la colère.
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.	2 Les paroles des sages répandent le savoir, tandis que la bouche des sots déborde de folie.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.	3 Les yeux de Yahvé sont en tout lieu, ils observent les méchants et les bons.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.	4 Les paroles apaisantes sont un arbre de vie; la langue perverse brise les énergies.
5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.	5 Le sot méprise la correction de son père, c’est de l’intelligence que de tenir compte des avis.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.	6 Il y a bien des richesses dans la maison du juste, et bien des problèmes dans les revenus du méchant.
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.	7 Les paroles des sages propagent le savoir; tout autre est le cœur des sots.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.	8 Yahvé a horreur du sacrifice des méchants, mais il accueille avec joie la prière des justes.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.	9 Yahvé déteste ceux qui se conduisent mal, mais il aime celui qui recherche le bien.
10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.	10 Une punition sévère attend celui qui sort du chemin; s’il refuse la correction, il mourra.
11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?	11 Le monde infernal et la mort sont à nu devant Yahvé, combien plus le cœur des fils d’Adam!
12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.	12 Le moqueur n’aime pas qu’on le reprenne, c’est pourquoi il évite la compagnie des sages.
13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.	13 Cœur joyeux, visage illuminé; cœur en peine, esprit abattu.
14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.	14 L’intelligent est en recherche du savoir, la bouche des sots ressasse leurs folies.
15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.	15 Pour le malheureux tous les jours sont mauvais, qui a le cœur joyeux est toujours en fête.
16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.	16 Qui craint Yahvé, le peu qu’il a vaut mieux qu’un trésor qui ne laisse pas en paix.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.	17 Le plat de légumes, là où l’on s’aime, est meilleur qu’un bœuf gras avec la mésentente.
18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.	18 L’homme colérique provoque les disputes, qui est lent à la colère ramène le calme.
19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.	19 Le chemin du paresseux est coupé de ronces, le sentier des actifs est comme une route.
20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.	20 Un fils sage sera la joie de son père, le sot fera la honte de sa mère.
21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.	21 Qui a la sagesse, c’est lui qui est intelligent.
22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellers they are established.	22 Faute de réflexion les projets échouent; ils réussiront si on a les a bien mûris.
23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!	23 Heureux celui qui a la bonne réponse, quelle bonne chose qu’une réponse qui tombe à pic!
24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.	24 L’homme sensé monte le chemin de vie, il se garde de la descente au séjour des morts.
25 The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.	25 Yahvé renverse la maison des orgueilleux, mais il protège l’enclos de la veuve.
26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.	26 Yahvé déteste les projets pervers, la pureté qu’il attend, ce sont les paroles bienveillantes.
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.	27 Qui court après l’argent démonte sa maison, qui ne se laisse pas acheter vivra.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.	28 L’homme droit réfléchit avant de répondre, la méchanceté sort toute seule de la bouche des mauvais.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.	29 Yahvé se tient à l’écart des méchants, mais il écoute la prière des justes.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.	30 Un regard bienveillant réjouit le cœur, une bonne nouvelle redonne des forces.
31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.	31 Qui tend l’oreille aux avis salutaires aura sa place parmi les sages.
32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.	32 Qui méprise la correction se fait tort à soi-même, qui écoute les avis forme son jugement.
33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.	33 La crainte de Yahvé est l’école de la sagesse; avant la gloire il faut l’humilité.
