It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: | 1 A psalm. A sabbath song. |
To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, | 2 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High, |
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. | 3 To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night, |
For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. | 4 With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre. |
O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. | 5 For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy. |
A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. | 6 How great are your works, LORD! How profound your purpose! |
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: | 7 A senseless person cannot know this; a fool cannot comprehend. |
But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. | 8 Though the wicked flourish like grass and all sinners thrive, They are destined for eternal destruction; |
For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. | 9 for you, LORD, are forever on high. |
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. | 10 Indeed your enemies, LORD, indeed your enemies shall perish; all sinners shall be scattered. |
Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. | 11 You have given me the strength of a wild bull; you have poured rich oil upon me. |
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | 12 My eyes look with glee on my wicked enemies; my ears delight in the fall of my foes. |
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. | 13 The just shall flourish like the palm tree, shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon. |
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; | 14 Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God. |
To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. | 15 They shall bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy, |
As they proclaim: "The LORD is just; our rock, in whom there is no wrong." |
