Psalms 139

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.	1 Du maître de chant. De David.Psaume. Yahvé, tu me sondes et me connais;
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.	2 que je me lève ou m'assoie, tu le sais, tu perces de loin mes pensées;
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.	3 que je marche ou me couche, tu le sens, mes chemins te sont tous familiers.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.	4 La parole n'est pas encore sur ma langue, et voici, Yahvé, tu la sais tout entière;
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.	5 derrière et devant tu m'enserres, tu as mis sur moi ta main.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.	6 Merveille de science qui me dépasse, hauteur où je ne puis atteindre.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?	7 Où irai-je loin de ton esprit, où fuirai-je loin de ta face?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.	8 Si j'escalade les cieux, tu es là, qu'au shéol je me couche, te voici.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;	9 Je prends les ailes de l'aurore, je me loge au plus loin de la mer,
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.	10 même là, ta main me conduit, ta droite me saisit.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.	11 Je dirai: "Que me presse la ténèbre, que la nuit soit pour moi une ceinture";
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.	12 même la ténèbre n'est point ténèbre devant toi et la nuit comme le jour illumine.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.	13 C'est toi qui m'as formé les reins, qui m'as tissé au ventre de ma mère;
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.	14 je te rends grâce pour tant de prodiges: merveille que je suis, merveille que tes oeuvres. Monâme, tu la connaissais bien,
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.	15 mes os n'étaient point cachés de toi, quand je fus façonné dans le secret, brodé au profond de laterre.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.	16 Mon embryon, tes yeux le voyaient; sur ton livre, ils sont tous inscrits les jours qui ont été fixés,et chacun d'eux y figure.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!	17 Mais pour moi, que tes pensées sont difficiles, ô Dieu, que la somme en est imposante!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.	18 Je les compte, il en est plus que sable; ai-je fini, je suis encore avec toi.
19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.	19 Si tu voulais, ô Dieu, tuer l'impie! Hommes de sang, allez-vous-en de moi!
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.	20 Eux qui parlent de toi sournoisement, qui tiennent pour rien tes pensées.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?	21 Yahvé, n'ai-je pas en haine qui te hait, en dégoût, ceux qui se dressent contre toi?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.	22 Je les hais d'une haine parfaite, ce sont pour moi des ennemis.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:	23 Sonde-moi, ô Dieu, connais mon coeur, scrute-moi, connais mon souci;
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.	24 vois que mon chemin ne soit fatal, conduis-moi sur le chemin d'éternité.
