1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.	1 Allora Mosè rispose: «Essi non mi crederanno, non ascolteranno la mia voce, anzi diranno: Il Signore non ti è apparso ».
2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.	2 E il Signore a lui: « Che è quello che hai in mano? » « Un bastone » rispose.
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.	3 Ed il Signore disse: « Gettalo in terra ». Lo gettò, e fu cambiato in un serpente tale che Mosè fuggì.
4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:	4 Ma il Signore disse: « Stendi la mano e prendilo per la coda ». Stese la mano, lo prese e gli ritornò bastone.
5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.	5 « (Or questo farai), disse Dio, affinchè essi credano che ti è apparso il Signore Dio dei loro padri, il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco, il Dio di Giacobbe ».
6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.	6 Poi il Signore disse: « Mettiti una mano in seno ». E messala che l'ebbe in seno, la cavò fuori lebbrosa, bianca come la neve.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.	7 E il Signore gli disse: « Rimetti la mano in seno ». La rimise, e la cavò di seno ritornata come l'altra carne.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.	8 « Or dunque, disse Dio, se non ti crederanno e non intenderanno il linguaggio del primo segno, crederanno a quello del secondo.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.	9 Sè poi non crederanno neppure a questi due segni, e non ascolteranno la tua voce, prendi dell'acqua del fiume e versala per terra, e quanta ne avrai presa dal fiume si convertirà in sangue ».
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.	10 Mosè disse: « Scusami, Signore, io non sono mai stato di facile parola, e dacché tu hai parlato al tuo servo, la mia lingua è più imbarazzata e più tarda che mai ».
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?	11 E il Signore a lui: « Chi ha fatta la bocca dell'uomo? Chi rende muto e sordo, veggente e cieco? Non son forse io?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.	12 Or dunque va, che parlerò io colla tua bocca, t'insegnerò io quello che dovrai dire ».
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.	13 E Mosè disse: « Te ne scongiuro, Signore, mandane un altro più adatto! »
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.	14 Allora il Signore, adirato contro Mosè, disse: « Io so che Aronne tuo fratello Levita è eloquente: ecco egli esce fuori ad incontrarti, e nel vederti si rallegrerà di cuore.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.	15 Parla a lui, mettigli in bocca le mie parole, ed io sarò colla tua e colla sua bocca, e vi mostrerò quel che dovrete fare.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.	16 Egli parlerà al popolo per te, e sarà la tua bocca: tu poi lo guiderai nelle cose che appartengono a Dio.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.	17 Or prendi in mano questa verga, colla quale opererai prodigi ».
18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.	18 E Mosè partitosi di lì andò da Ietro suo suocero, e gli disse: « Lascia che io me ne vada e torni dai miei fratelli in Egitto, a vedere se sono ancora vivi ». E Ietro gli disse: «Va in pace».
19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.	19 Infatti il Signore aveva detto a Mosè in Madian: « Va e torna in Egitto, perchè son morti tutti quelli che volevano toglierti la vita ».
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.	20 Mosè adunque prese la sua moglie e i suoi figlioli, li pose sopra un asino, e se ne tornò in Egitto, portando in mano la verga di Dio.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.	21 E il Signore disse a Mosè quando ritornava in Egitto: « Cerca di fare davanti a Faraone tutti i prodigi che ho messi a tua disposizione. Io poi indurerò il suo cuore ed egli non lascerà partire il popolo,
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:	22 E tu gli dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore: Israele è il mio figlio primo genito,
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.	23 e quindi ti ho detto: Lascia partire il mio figliolo, affinchè mi serva; ma siccome tu non hai voluto lasciarlo partire, ecco che io Deciderò il tuo figliolo primogenito ».
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.	24 E mentre Mosè era in viaggio, il Signore si presentò a lui nell'albergo e voleva farlo morire.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.	25 Ma Sefora, presa subito una pietra tagliente, circoncise il prepuzio del suo figlio, toccò i piedi di lui e disse: « Tu mi sei uno sposo di sangue ».
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.	26 E (il Signore) lo lasciò, appena (Sefora), a motivo della circoncisione, ebbe detto: « Sposo di sangue ».
27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.	27 E il Signore disse ad Aronne: « Va incontro a Mosè nel deserto ». E Aronne gli andò incontro fino al monte di Dio, e lo baciò.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.	28 E Mosè riferì ad Aronne tutte le parole che il Signore l'aveva incaricato di dire, e i prodigi che gli aveva comandato di fare.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:	29 E andarono insieme, e radunarono tutti gli anziani dei figlioli d'Israele.
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.	30 E Aronne riferì tutte le parole che il Signore aveva dette a Mosè. Avendo poi Mosè fatti i miracoli in presenza del popolo,
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.	31 questo credette, e sentito che il Signore visitava i figlioli d'Israele, perchè ne aveva veduta l'oppressione, si prostrarono e adorarono.
