Exodus 4

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.	1 Moïse reprit la parole et dit: "Et s'ils ne me croient pas et n'écoutent pas ma voix, mais me disent:Yahvé ne t'est pas apparu?"
2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.	2 Yahvé lui dit: "Qu'as-tu en main? -- Un bâton, dit-il. --
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.	3 Jette-le à terre", lui dit Yahvé. Moïse le jeta à terre, le bâton se changea en serpent et Moïse fuitdevant lui.
4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:	4 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Avance la main et prends-le par la queue." Il avança la main, le prit, et dans samain il redevint un bâton.
5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.	5 "Afin qu'ils croient que Yahvé t'est apparu, le Dieu de leurs pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaacet le Dieu de Jacob."
6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.	6 Yahvé lui dit encore: "Mets ta main dans ton sein." Il mit la main dans son sein, puis la retira, et voicique sa main était lépreuse, blanche comme neige.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.	7 Yahvé lui dit: "Remets ta main dans ton sein." Il remit la main dans son sein et la retira de son sein, etvoici qu'elle était redevenue comme le reste de son corps.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.	8 "Ainsi, s'ils ne te croient pas et ne sont pas convaincus par le premier signe, ils croiront à cause dusecond signe.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.	9 Et s'ils ne croient pas, même avec ces deux signes, et qu'ils n'écoutent pas ta voix, tu prendras de l'eaudu Fleuve et tu la répandras par terre, et l'eau que tu auras puisée au Fleuve se changera en sang sur la terresèche."
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.	10 Moïse dit à Yahvé: "Excuse-moi, mon Seigneur, je ne suis pas doué pour la parole, ni d'hier nid'avant-hier, ni même depuis que tu adresses la parole à ton serviteur, car ma bouche et ma langue sontpesantes."
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?	11 Yahvé lui dit: "Qui a doté l'homme d'une bouche? Qui rend muet ou sourd, clairvoyant ou aveugle?N'est-ce pas moi, Yahvé?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.	12 Va maintenant, je serai avec ta bouche et je t'indiquerai ce que tu devras dire."
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.	13 Moïse dit encore: "Excuse-moi, mon Seigneur, envoie, je t'en prie, qui tu voudras."
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.	14 La colère de Yahvé s'enflamma contre Moïse et il dit: "N'y a-t-il pas Aaron, ton frère, le lévite? Jesais qu'il parle bien, lui; le voici qui vient à ta rencontre et à ta vue il se réjouira en son coeur.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.	15 Tu lui parleras et tu mettras les paroles dans sa bouche. Moi, je serai avec ta bouche et avec sabouche, et je vous indiquerai ce que vous devrez faire.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.	16 C'est lui qui parlera pour toi au peuple; il te tiendra lieu de bouche et tu seras pour lui un dieu.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.	17 Quant à ce bâton, prends-le dans ta main, c'est par lui que tu accompliras les signes."
18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.	18 Moïse s'en alla et retourna vers Jéthro, son beau-père. Il lui dit: "Permets que je m'en aille et que jeretourne vers mes frères qui sont en Egypte pour voir s'ils sont encore en vie." Jéthro lui répondit: "Va en paix."
19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.	19 Yahvé dit à Moïse en Madiân: "Va, retourne en Egypte, car ils sont morts, tous ceux qui cherchaientà te faire périr."
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.	20 Moïse prit sa femme et son fils, les fit monter sur un âne et s'en retourna au pays d'Egypte. Moïseprit en main le bâton de Dieu.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.	21 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Tandis que tu retourneras en Egypte, vois les prodiges que j'ai mis en tonpouvoir: tu les accompliras devant Pharaon, mais moi, j'endurcirai son coeur et il ne laissera pas partir le peuple.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:	22 Alors tu diras à Pharaon: Ainsi parle Yahvé: mon fils premier-né, c'est Israël.
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.	23 Je t'avais dit: Laisse aller mon fils, qu'il me serve. Puisque tu refuses de le laisser aller, eh bien, moi,je vais faire périr ton fils premier-né."
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.	24 Et ce fut en route, à la halte de la nuit, que Yahvé vint à sa rencontre et chercha à le faire mourir.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.	25 Cippora prit un silex, coupa le prépuce de son fils et elle en toucha ses pieds. Et elle dit: "Tu es pourmoi un époux de sang."
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.	26 Et il se retira de lui. Elle avait dit alors "Epoux de sang", ce qui s'applique aux circoncisions.
27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.	27 Yahvé dit à Aaron: "Va à la rencontre de Moïse en direction du désert." Il partit, le rencontra à lamontagne de Dieu et l'embrassa.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.	28 Moïse informa Aaron de toutes les paroles de Yahvé, qui l'avait envoyé, et de tous les signes qu'illui avait ordonné d'accomplir.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:	29 Moïse partit avec Aaron et ils réunirent tous les anciens des Israélites.
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.	30 Aaron répéta toutes les paroles que Yahvé avait dites à Moïse; il accomplit les signes aux yeux dupeuple.
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.	31 Le peuple crut et se réjouit de ce que Yahvé avait visité les Israélites et avait vu leur misère. Ilss'agenouillèrent et se prosternèrent.5, 1 Après cela, Moïse et Aaron vinrent trouver Pharaon et lui dirent: "Ainsiparle Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël: Laisse partir mon peuple, qu'il célèbre une fête pour moi dans le désert."
