1 And God spake all these words, saying,	1 Akkor Isten elmondta mindezeket a szavakat:
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.	2 »Én, az Úr, vagyok a te Istened, aki kihoztalak téged Egyiptom földjéről, a rabszolgaság házából.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.	3 Rajtam kívül más istened ne legyen!
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:	4 Ne készíts magadnak faragott képet, és semmiféle képmást arról, ami fenn van az égen, vagy lenn a földön, vagy a föld alatt, a vizekben!
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;	5 Ne imádd ezeket, és ne szolgáld őket, mert én, az Úr, a te Istened erős és féltékeny vagyok, és az atyák vétkét megtorlom gyermekeiken, és azok harmadik és negyedik nemzedékén, akik gyűlölnek engem!
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.	6 De irgalmasságot gyakorlok ezer nemzedéken át azokkal, akik szeretnek engem, és megtartják parancsaimat.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.	7 Ne vedd hiába az Úr, a te Istened nevét: mert nem hagyja büntetlenül az Úr azt, aki hiába veszi az Úr, az ő Istene nevét!
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.	8 Emlékezzél meg arról, hogy a szombat napját megszenteld!
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:	9 Hat napon dolgozzál, és végezd minden munkádat!
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:	10 A hetedik napon azonban az Úrnak, a te Istenednek szombatja van: semmiféle munkát se végezz azon se te, se fiad, se lányod, se rabszolgád, se szolgálód, se állatod, se a jövevény, aki a kapuidon belül van!
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.	11 Hat nap alatt alkotta ugyanis az Úr az eget és a földet, a tengert, és mindazt, ami bennük van, a hetedik napon azonban megpihent, azért áldotta meg az Úr a szombat napját, és azért szentelte meg.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.	12 Tiszteld apádat és anyádat, hogy hosszú életű légy azon a földön, amelyet az Úr, a te Istened ad majd neked!
13 Thou shalt not kill.	13 Ne ölj!
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.	14 Ne paráználkodj!
15 Thou shalt not steal.	15 Ne lopj!
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.	16 Ne tégy hamis tanúságot felebarátod ellen!
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.	17 Ne kívánd meg felebarátod házát! Ne kívánd meg feleségét, se rabszolgáját, se rabszolganőjét, se marháját, se szamarát: semmijét se, ami az övé!«
18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.	18 Az egész nép látta a mennydörgéseket és a villámokat, a harsonazengést és a füstölgő hegyet, ezért rémülten, a félelemtől remegve megállt a távolban,
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.	19 és így szólt Mózeshez: »Te szólj hozzánk, és meghallgatjuk! Ne Isten szóljon hozzánk, hogy meg ne találjunk halni!«
20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.	20 Mózes azt felelte erre a népnek: »Ne féljetek! Azért jött Isten, hogy próbára tegyen titeket, és legyen bennetek az ő félelme, hogy ne vétkezzetek!«
21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.	21 A nép tehát a távolban maradt, Mózes pedig odajárult ahhoz a homályhoz, amelyben Isten volt.
22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.	22 Az Úr azt mondta ekkor Mózesnek: »Ezt mondd Izrael fiainak: Magatok láttátok, hogy az égből szóltam hozzátok.
23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.	23 Ne készítsetek tehát ezüst isteneket, és ne készítsetek magatoknak arany isteneket!
24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.	24 Oltárt földből építsetek nekem, és azon mutassátok be egészen elégő- és békeáldozataitokat, apró- és lábasjószágaitokat minden olyan helyen, ahol megemlékezem nevemről: eljövök hozzád és megáldalak.
25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.	25 Ha pedig kőből készítesz nekem oltárt, ne építsd azt faragott kövekből, mert ha vésőt emelsz rá, tisztátalanná válik!
26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.	26 Ne lépcsőn járj fel oltáromhoz, hogy fel ne táruljon a szemérmed!
