1 And God spake all these words, saying,	1 Alors Dieu prononça toutes ces paroles:
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.	2 “Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu, celui qui t’a fait sortir d’Égypte, du pays de l’esclavage:
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.	3 tu n’auras pas d’autre Dieu que moi.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:	4 “Tu ne feras pas de statue à l’image des choses qui sont là-haut dans le ciel, ou en bas sur la terre, ou dans les eaux sous la terre.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;	5 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant elles, tu ne les serviras pas, car moi, Yahvé ton Dieu, je suis un Dieu jaloux. Je punis la faute des pères sur leurs fils, leurs petits-fils et arrière-petits-fils, lorsqu’ils me haïssent.
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.	6 Mais je garde ma faveur jusqu’à la millième génération pour ceux qui m’aiment et gardent mes commandements.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.	7 “Tu ne feras pas un mauvais usage du nom de Yahvé ton Dieu, car Yahvé ne tient pas quitte celui qui fait un mauvais usage de son nom.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.	8 “Souviens-toi du jour du sabbat et sanctifie-le.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:	9 Pendant six jours tu serviras et tu feras ton travail,
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:	10 mais le septième jour est un repos en l’honneur de Yahvé, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras aucun travail, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni tes bêtes, ni l’étranger qui habite chez toi.
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.	11 Sache que Yahvé a fait en six jours les cieux, la terre, la mer et tout ce qui s’y trouve, et il s’est reposé le septième jour. C’est pour cela que Yahvé a béni ce jour de sabbat et l’a rendu saint.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.	12 “Entoure d’égards ton père et ta mère: c’est ainsi que tu vivras longtemps sur la terre que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne.
13 Thou shalt not kill.	13 “Tu ne tueras pas.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.	14 “Tu ne commettras pas d’adultère.
15 Thou shalt not steal.	15 “Tu ne voleras pas.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.	16 “Tu ne porteras pas de faux témoignage contre ton prochain.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.	17 “Tu ne resteras pas à désirer la maison de ton prochain, tu ne chercheras pas à prendre la femme de ton prochain, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son bœuf, ni son âne, ni rien de ce qui lui appartient.”
18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.	18 Tout le peuple regardait: ce n’étaient que tonnerre, éclairs et sons de trompes sur la montagne fumante. Le peuple en tremblait et se tenait à distance.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.	19 Alors tous dirent à Moïse: “Parle-nous, toi, et nous t’écouterons, mais que Dieu ne nous parle pas, ou nous allons mourir!”
20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.	20 Moïse répondit au peuple: “C’est pour vous mettre à l’épreuve que Dieu est descendu, pour que sa crainte soit toujours en vous, et que vous ne péchiez pas.”
21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.	21 C’est ainsi que le peuple se tint à distance pendant que Moïse s’avançait vers la nuée, là où était Dieu.
22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.	22 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Vous avez vu que je vous parlais du haut du ciel.
23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.	23 Vous ne mettrez rien sur le même plan que moi, vous ne vous ferez pas des dieux d’argent et des dieux d’or.
24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.	24 Tu me feras un autel de terre où tu présenteras tes sacrifices et tes offrandes de petit et de gros bétail. Dans tous les lieux où j’aurai manifesté mon Nom, je viendrai vers toi et je te bénirai.
25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.	25 Si tu me fais un autel de pierres, tu ne tailleras pas les pierres, parce qu’en les travaillant avec le fer tu les profanerais.
26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.	26 Tu ne monteras pas à mon autel par des marches pour ne pas découvrir ta nudité.
