1 Chronicles 14

1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.	1 Jiram, el rey de Tiro, envió a David mensajeros con maderas de cedro, albañiles y carpinteros, para edificarle una casa.
2 And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.	2 Así David reconoció que el Señor lo había afianzado como rey sobre Israel, porque su reino había sido enaltecido a causa de su pueblo Israel.
3 And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.	3 David tomó como esposas a otras mujeres en Jerusalén y tuvo más hijos e hijas.
4 Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,	4 Estos son los nombres de los hijos que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán y Salomón,
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,	5 Ibjar, Elisúa y Elpálet,
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,	6 Nogá, Néfeg y Iafía,
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.	7 Elisamá, Beeliadá y Elifélet.
8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.	8 Cuando los filisteos oyeron que habían ungido a David como rey de todo Israel, subieron para atacarlo. Pero David lo supo y les salió al encuentro.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.	9 Los filisteos vinieron y se desplegaron por el valle de Refaím.
10 And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.	10 David entonces consultó a Dios: «¿Debo atacar a los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos?». Y el Señor le respondió: «¡Sube, y yo los entregaré en tus manos!».
11 So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.	11 Ellos subieron a Baal Perasím, y allí David los derrotó. Entonces dijo: «Dios ha abierto ante mí una brecha entre mis enemigos, como una brecha abierta por las aguas». Por eso se llamó a ese lugar Baal Perasím –que significa «Señor de las Brechas»–.
12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.	12 Los filisteos abandonaron allí a sus dioses, y David dijo: «¡Que sean arrojados al fuego!».
13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.	13 Los filisteos volvieron a desplegarse por el valle.
14 Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.	14 David consultó nuevamente a Dios, y él le respondió: «¡No subas a perseguirlos! Da una vuelta por detrás de ellos y enfréntalos desde el lado de las balsameras.
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.	15 Cuando oigas ruidos de pasos sobre la copa de las balsameras, ataca decididamente, porque Dios saldrá delante de ti para derrotar al ejército de los filisteos».
16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.	16 David hizo lo que el Señor le había ordenado y derrotó al ejército de los filisteos, desde Gabaón hasta Guézer.
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.	17 La fama de David se extendió por todas las regiones, porque el Señor lo hizo temible delante de todos los pueblos.
