1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.	1 Chiram, re di Tiro, inviò dei messaggeri a Davide con legname di cedro, muratori e falegnami per costruirgli una casa.
2 And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.	2 Allora Davide riconobbe che il Signore l'aveva stabilito re su Israele, perché il suo regno, a causa del suo popolo d'Israele, era grandemente esaltato.
3 And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.	3 Davide si prese altre mogli in Gerusalemme e generò figli e figlie.
4 Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,	4 Questi sono i nomi dei figli che ebbe Davide in Gerusalemme: Sammua, Sobab, Natan, Salomone,
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,	5 Ibcar, Elisua, Elipelet,
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,	6 Noga, Nefeg, Iafia,
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.	7 Elisamà, Beeliada ed Elifèlet.
8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.	8 Quando i Filistei appresero che Davide era stato unto re su tutto Israele, salirono tutti per ricercarlo. Saputolo, Davide uscì loro incontro.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.	9 I Filistei, appena giunti, si sparpagliarono per la vallata di Rèfaim.
10 And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.	10 Davide consultò Dio così: "Se io marcerò contro i Filistei, tu li consegnerai in mio potere?". Il Signore gli rispose: "Marcia, e io li consegnerò in tuo potere".
11 So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.	11 Quelli salirono a Baal-Perazìm e quivi Davide li sconfisse. Questi allora disse: "Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia tra i miei nemici, come una breccia prodotta dall'acqua". Perciò mise a questo luogo il nome di Baal-Perazìm.
12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.	12 I Filistei abbandonarono ivi i loro idoli e Davide ordinò che venissero bruciati nel fuoco.
13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.	13 Ancora una volta i Filistei ricominciarono a sparpagliarsi per la vallata.
14 Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.	14 Di nuovo Davide consultò Dio che gli rispose: "Non salire dietro di loro, aggirali a distanza per raggiungerli dalla parte di Becaim.
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.	15 Quando sentirai un rumore di passi fra le cime degli alberi, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio uscirà davanti a te per sconfiggere il campo dei Filistei".
16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.	16 Davide fece come Dio gli aveva ordinato e sconfisse l'esercito dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Ghezer.
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.	17 La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva temibile fra tutte le nazioni.
