1 És folytatta Eliú, és ezeket mondta:	1 Elihu proceeded further and said:
2 »Tűrj engem még egy keveset, és megjelentem neked, mert van még mit mondanom Istenért;	2 Wait yet a little and I will instruct you, for there are still words to be said on God's behalf.
3 messziről veszem tudásomat, hogy megvédjem Teremtőm igazát.	3 I will bring my knowledge from afar, and to my Maker I will accord the right.
4 Szavaim valóban hamisság nélkül vannak, és tökéletes tudás áll helyt majd előtted.	4 For indeed, my theme cannot fail me: the one perfect in knowledge I set before you.
5 Nem veti el Isten a hatalmasokat, hiszen ő is hatalmas!	5 Behold, God rejects the obstinate in heart; he preserves not the life of the wicked.
6 De nem segíti a bűnösöket, és igazságot szolgáltat az elnyomottaknak;	6 He withholds not the just man's rights, but grants vindication to the oppressed,
7 nem veszi le szemét az igazról. Trónra ültet királyokat örök időkre, de azok felfuvalkodnak.	7 And with kings upon thrones he sets them, exalted forever.
8 Amikor azonban bilincsbe vannak verve, s a nyomor kötelei tartják őket fogva,	8 Or if they are bound with fetters and held fast by bonds of affliction,
9 megjelenti nekik tetteiket és bűneiket: hogy erőszakot cselekedtek,	9 Then he makes known to them what they have done and their sins of boastful pride.
10 és megnyitja fülüket feddésének, és meghagyja, hogy térjenek meg a gonoszságtól.	10 He opens their ears to correction and exhorts them to turn back from evil.
11 Ha meghallgatják és alávetik magukat, jólétben töltik napjaikat és dicsőségben éveiket.	11 If they obey and serve him, they spend their days in prosperity, their years in happiness.
12 Ha azonban nem hallgatják, belerohannak a kardba, és meghalnak dőreségükben.	12 But if they obey not, they perish; they die for lack of knowledge.
13 A képmutatók és álnokok azonban kihívják Isten haragját, és nem kiáltanak Istenhez, amikor kötözve vannak,	13 The impious in heart lay up anger for themselves; they cry not for help when he enchains them;
14 fiatal korban pusztul el a lelkük, és életük már az ifjúkorban.	14 Therefore they expire in youth, and perish among the reprobate.
15 Megmenti a szenvedőt szenvedése által, és megnyitja fülét a szorongatással.	15 But he saves the unfortunate through their affliction, and instructs them through distress.
16 Téged is kiragad a szorongatás torkából; tágasság lép helyébe, szűkösség nélkül, s amit asztalodra raknak, tele lesz kövérséggel.
17 Ha kimondod akkor a gonoszra az ítéletet, ragaszkodj joghoz és igazsághoz!
18 Vigyázz, hogy az el ne csábítson bő ajándékkal, és tetemes vesztegetés meg ne hajlítson!
19 Ne kívánd birtokolni az aranyat, és ne áhítsd a gazdagság támasztékát,
20 hogy az emberek el ne jöjjenek érte éjjel!	20
21 Vigyázz magadra, hogy ne hajolj igaztalanságra, mert inkább ezt pártoltad, mint a nyomorúságot!	21 Take heed, turn not to evil; for you have preferred carousal to affliction.
22 Íme, magasztos Isten az ő erejében, és nincsen hozzá hasonló tanítómester!	22 Behold, God is sublime in his power. What teacher is there like him?
23 Ki tudná felülvizsgálni útjait? Ki mondhatja neki: ‘Igaztalanul cselekedtél?’	23 Who prescribes for him his conduct, or who can say, "You have done wrong"?
24 Legyen gondod, hogy magasztald művét, amelyet megénekeltek az emberek!	24 Remember, you should extol his work, which men have praised in song.
25 Mindenki látja azt, és mindegyik távolról szemléli.	25 All men contemplate it; man beholds it from afar.
26 Íme, nagy az Isten, és nem tudjuk felfogni, évei számát nem lehet kifürkészni.	26 Lo, God is great beyond our knowledge; the number of his years is past searching out.
27 Elvonja a vízcseppeket és szakadó záport zúdít,	27 He holds in check the waterdrops that filter in rain through his mists,
28 amely ömlik a felhőkből, a mindent beborító fellegekből.	28 Till the skies run with them and the showers rain down on mankind.
29 Ha kiteríti a felhőket, úgy, mint a sátrát,
30 ha villogtatja felülről fényét, s a tenger sarkait is befödi,	30 Lo! he spreads the clouds in layers as the carpeting of his tent.
31 ezek által ítéli meg a népeket, s ad eledelt sok halandónak.	31 For by these he nourishes the nations, and gives them food in abundance.
32 Fényt rejt el kezében, és parancsot ad neki, hogy újra előjöjjön;	32 In his hands he holds the lightning, and he commands it to strike the mark.
33 mesélhet arról az ő pásztora, s a nyáj is fergetege dühéről.	33 His thunder speaks for him and incites the fury of the storm.
