1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and brought me forth in the spirit of the Lord: and set me down in the midst of a plain that was full of bones.	1 La mano di Jahvè fu sopra di me, Jahvè mi portò fuori in spirito e mi depose nella pianura che era piena di ossa.
2 And he led me about through them on every side: now they were very many upon the face of the plain, and they were exceeding dry.	2 Quindi mi fece passare tutt'intorno a esse — ed ecco, erano davvero in grandissimo numero sulla superficie della valle e del tutto inaridite —
3 And he said to me: Son of man, dost thou think these bones shall live? And I answered: O Lord God, thou knowest.	3 e mi domandò: «Figlio dell’uomo, possono rivivere queste ossa?» Risposi: «Tu lo sai, Jahvel».
4 And he said to me: Prophesy concerning these bones; and say to them: Ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.	4 Mi disse allora: «Profetizza a queste ossa e di’ loro: “Ossa aride, udite la parola di Jahvè.
5 Thus saith the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will send spirit into you, and you shall live.	5 Così dice il Signore Jahvè: Ecco, mando in voi un soffio e rivivrete.
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to grow over you, and will cover you with skin: and I will give you spirit and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.	6 Su di voi porrò i nervi, farò crescere la carne, vi coprirò con la pelle, porrò infine in voi un soffio e tornerete in vita; saprete che io sono Jahvè”».
7 And I prophesied as he had commanded me: and as I prophesied there was a noise, and behold a commotion: and the bones came together, each one to its joint.	7 Profetai come mi era stato comandato e, subito, si sentì un rumore, poi un grande frastuono: le ossa si avvicinarono ciascuno all’altro corrispondente.
8 And I saw, and behold the sinews, and the flesh came up upon them: and the skin was stretched out over them, but there was no spirit in them.	8 Vidi su di esse apparire i nervi, salire la carne e la pelle ricoprirle; mancava tuttavia l’alito vitale.
9 And he said to me: Prophesy to the spirit, prophesy, O son of man, and say to the spirit: Thus saith the Lord God: Come, spirit, from the four winds, and blow upon these slain, and let them live again.	9 Mi disse allora: «Profetizza al soffio, profetizza, figlio dell’uomo, e parla: “Così dice il Signore Jahvè: Vieni, o soffio, dai quattro venti e spira in questi uccisi perché riabbiano la vita”».
10 And I prophesied as he had commanded me: and the spirit came into them, and they lived: and they stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.	10 Profetai, come mi aveva comandato; subito, entrò in essi il soffio vitale ed essi rivissero e si drizzarono in piedi: era un esercito molto, molto grande.
11 And he said to me: Son of man: All these bones are the house of Israel : they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost, and we are cut off.	11 Quindi mi disse: «Figlio dell’uomo, queste ossa sono tutta la casa di Israele. Eccoli, vanno dicendo: “Le nostre ossa sono inaridite, svanì la nostra speranza, ormai siamo finiti”.
12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will open your graves, and will bring you out of your sepulchres, O my people: and will bring you into the land of Israel.	12 Perciò profetizza e parla loro: “Così dice il Signore Jahvè: Ecco, sto per aprire le vostre tombe; da esse vi farò uscire, o mio popolo, per ricondurvi nel paese di Israele.
13 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have opened your sepulchres, and shall have brought you out of your graves, O my people:	13 Allora saprete che io sono Jahvè, quando aprirò le vostre tombe e ne farò uscire voi, o mio popolo.
14 And shall have put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall make you rest upon your own land: and you shall know that I the Lord have spoken, and done it, saith the Lord God:	14 Immetterò in voi il mio soffio e riavrete la vita, quindi vi installerò nel vostro paese; saprete così che io, Jahvè, l’ho detto e compiuto”». Oracolo di Jahvè.
15 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	15 Mi fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè:
16 And thou son of man, take thee a stick: and write upon it: Of Juda, and of the children of Israel his associates: and take another stick and write upon it: For Joseph the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, and of his associates.	16 «Ora tu, figlio dell’uomo, prendi un pezzo di legno e scrivici sopra: “Giuda e i figli di Israele, suoi aderenti”; prendine, poi, un altro e scrivici sopra: “Giuseppe, legno di Efraim, e tutta la casa di Israele, suoi aderenti”.
17 And join them one to the other into one stick, and they shall become one in thy hand.	17 Quindi avvicinali l’uno all’altro in un sol legno, così da formare una cosa sola nella tua mano;
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak to thee, saying: Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by this?	18 quando i figli del mio popolo ti diranno: “Non vorrai tu spiegarci tale significato hanno per te queste cose”,
19 Say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel that are associated with him, and I will put them together with the stick of Juda, and will make them one stick: and they shall be one in his hand.	19 rispondi loro: “Così dice il Signore Jahvè: Ecco, prendo il legno di Gitseppe, che sta nelle mani di Efraim, e le tribù di Israele collegate a esso e lo pongo sull’altro, cioè sul legno di Giuda, formandone un unico pezzo di legno così da divenire tutt’uno nella mia mano”.
20 And the sticks whereon thou hast written, shall be in thy hand, before their eyes.	20 Terrai in mano in loro presenza i pezzi di legno sui quali avrai scritto
21 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from the midst of the nations whither they are gone: and I will gather them on every side, and will bring them to their own land.	21 e riferirai loro: “Così dice il Signore Jahvè: Ecco, prendo i figli di Israele tra le genti dove sono andati, adunandoli da ogni parte, e li condurrò nel loro territorio.
22 And I will make them one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king over them all: and they shall no more be two nations, neither shall they be divided any more into two kingdoms.	22 Ne farò un solo popolo nel paese, sui monti di Israele, e tutti avranno un solo re; non formeranno più due popoli né saranno più divisi in due regni.
23 Nor shall they be defiled any more with their idols, nor with their abominations, nor with all their iniquities: and I will save them out of all the places in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.	23 Non si contamineranno più con i loro idoli vani e abominevoli, con tutte le loro ribellioni; dopo averli liberati da tutte le infedeltà per le quali hanno peccato, li purificherò perché siano il mio popolo e io il loro Dio.
24 And my servant David shall be king over them, and they shall have one shepherd: they shall walk in my judgments, and shall keep my commandments, and shall do them.	24 Su tutti il mio servitore David starà come re e unico pastore; essi seguiranno i miei decreti, custodiranno le mie leggi e le metteranno in pratica.
25 And they shall dwell in the land which I gave to my servant Jacob, wherein your fathers dwelt, and they shall dwell in it, they and their children, and their children's children, for ever: and David my servant shall be their prince for ever.	25 Abiteranno nel paese che diedi al mio servitore Giacobbe e dove abitarono i vostri padri; vi abiteranno essi con i figli e i figli dei figli per sempre; per sempre David mio servitore sarà il loro principe.
26 And I will make a covenant of peace with them, it shall be an everlasting covenant with them : and I will establish them, and will multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for ever.	26 Stringerò con essi un’alleanza di pace: sarà un’alleanza eterna; li beneficherò, li moltiplicherò e porrò per sempre il mio santuario in mezzo a loro.
27 And my tabernacle shall be with them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.	27 La mia dimora sarà, dunque, fra di loro: sarò il loro Dio ed essi saranno il mio popolo;
28 And the nations shall know that I am the Lord the sanctifier of Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for ever.	28 le genti sapranno che io sono Jahvè che santifico Israele quando il mio santuario sarà per sempre in mezzo a loro”».
