Proverbs 13

1 A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved.	1 Il savio figliuolo intende la dottrina del suo padre (e molto gli fa grande gioia); e quello che è falso e pieno di male, non può intendere uomo che lo castighi.
2 Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked.	2 L'uomo porta nella bocca il suo bene (e il suo male; chè la buona lingua è il salvamento dell' uomo); e l'anima del malvagio uomo sarà molestata.
3 He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils.	3 Colui che guarda la sua lingua guarda la sua vita; e colui che non prende guardia di cosa che dica, non averà bene.
4 The sluggard willeth and willeth not: but the soul of them that work, shall be made fat.	4 Il cattivo uomo e folle vuole ciò che non puote avere; e chi bene farà sarà tuttavia ricco e agiato.
5 The just shall hate a lying word: but the wicked confoundeth, and shall be confounded.	5 Il prode uomo inodia tuttavia la mala parola; il disleale non dice se non male, donde elli sarà confuso.
6 Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.	6 Dirittura guarda la via del povero uomo; (fa grande bene a colui a cui ne ricorda); e la vita del malvagio non averà fiore di memoria.
7 One is as it were rich, when he hath nothing: and another is as it were poor, when he hath great riches.	7 È alcuno che gli pare essere ricco, e sì non ha niente; e altri è a cui pare essere povero, ed è in grandi ricchezze.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension.	8 Ricomperamento dell' anima dell' uomo sono le ricchezze; ma chi è povero [non] sostiene molta riprensione.
9 The light of the just giveth joy: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.	9 La luce de' giusti rallegra le genti; e la lucerna de' rei sarà ispenta.
10 Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom.	10 Intra gli uomini rigogliosi non averà già pace; e coloro che faranno per consiglio, saranno governati per sapienza.
11 Substance got in haste shall be diminished: but that which by little and little is gathered with the hand shall increase.	11 L'avere che viene tosto, se ne va leggermente; ma quello che viene a poco a poco, averà lunga durata.
12 Hope that is deferred afflicteth the soul: desire when it cometh is a tree of life.	12 La speranza (e il desiderio che l' uomo attende) ingrava molto quando s' indugia; il desiderio, che tosto viene, fa spesso gioia.
13 Whosoever speaketh ill of any thing, bindeth himself for the time to come: but he that feareth the commandment, shall dwell in peace. Deceitful souls go astray in sins: the just are merciful, and shew mercy.	13 Quello che dice male d'altrui, si lega verso colui cui elli misfa; e colui che teme il comandamento (del nostro Signore), sarà tuttavia in buona pace
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, that he may decline from the ruin of death.	14 La legge del savio uomo è la via di vita, accid declini della via della morte.
15 Good instruction shall give grace: in the way of scorners is a deep pit.	15 La buona dottrina dona grazia (a colui che la insegna); e chi si sente in follia, egli è spesso in gran destruzione.
16 The prudent mall doth all things with counsel: but he that is a fool, layeth open his folly.	16 Il savio fa tutte le cose per consiglio; ma il folle non ha cura d'altrui consiglio per cosa che faccia; (chè quello che fa gli pare buono).
17 The messenger of the wicked shall fall into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.	17 Colui che è messo del malvagio uomo (misviene e spesso) finisce nel peccato (del suo signore); ma il messo del buono uomo va sicuramente.
18 Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified.	18 Povertà e confusione [ha] chi lascia la dottrina del prode uomo; ma là ov' egli riceve insegnamento del savio uomo, se lo intende, averà onore e gioia.
19 The desire that is accomplished, delighteth the soul: fools hate them that flee from evil things.	19 Molto piace a uno uomo, quando egli puote avere ciò ch' egli ha desiderio per lungo tempo; e i folli biàsimano coloro che fuggono il (peccato e 'l) fare male.
20 He that walketh with the wise, shall be wise: a friend of fools shall become like to them.	20 Quello che va colle savie persone (ed è spesso in loro compagnia), l' uomo il tiene savio; e quello che tiene compagnia a' folli sarae tenuto per tale com'e' sono.
21 ,21Evil pursueth sinners: and to the just good shall be repaid.	21 I peccatori (amano o) sèguitano il male; il prode uomo s' attiene tutta via al bene.
22 The good man leaveth heirs, sons, and grandsons: and the substance of the sinner is kept for the just.	22 I prodi uomini hanno tuttavia avuto il bene a grande larghezza; ma quello non è già savio che ha raccolte grandi ricchezze, e non ne dà parte per la sua anima, anzi nella sua morte le lascia nelle mani altrui per dipartire.
23 Much food is in the tillage of fathers: but for others it is gathered with out judgment.	23 Assomiglia a colui che non sa provedere alla sua anima e a sè, e sì la mette altrui a salvare; chè coloro che dipartire le dovrebbono a cui sono lasciate, le si tengono più volentieri che non danno ad altrui.
24 He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.	24 Chi non castiga il suo fanciullo, egli non l'ama; ma colui che l'ama (lo riprende e) insegnagli il meglio che può e che sa.
25 The just eateth and filleth his soul: but the belly of the wicked is never to be filled.	25 Il savio uomo ha assai di poco; ma il folle, come ch' egli abbia, già mai non averà assai.
