1 A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved.	1 Il figliuolo saggio rappresenta la dottrina del padre: ma lo schernitor non ascolta quando uno lo corregge.
2 Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked.	2 L'uomo si sazierà dei beni, che saran frutto del suo parlare: ma l'anim dei prevaricatori è iniqua.
3 He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils.	3 Chi custodisce la sua bocca, custo disce l'anima sua: ma colui, che avventato nelle parole, caderà in guai.
4 The sluggard willeth and willeth not: but the soul of them that work, shall be made fat.	4 Il pigro vuole, e disvuole: ma anima degli uomini attivi si impinguerà.
5 The just shall hate a lying word: but the wicked confoundeth, and shall be confounded.	5 Il giusto ha in orrore la parola di menzogna: ma l'empio diffama, e sarà diffamato.
6 Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.	6 La giustizia custodisce i passi dell'innocente; ma la (sua) empietà perverte il peccatore.
7 One is as it were rich, when he hath nothing: and another is as it were poor, when he hath great riches.	7 Uno la fa da ricco, e non ha nulla; un altro la fa da povero in mezzo a molte ricchezze.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension.	8 Colle sue ricchezze riscatta il ricco a propria vita: ma colui, che è povero, è esente dalla minaccia.
9 The light of the just giveth joy: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.	9 La luce de' giusti è apportatrice di letizia: ma la lucerna degli empj si spegnerà.
10 Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom.	10 Tra i superbi sono sempre delle risse; ma quelli, che tutte cose fanno un consiglio, si governano con sagezza.
11 Substance got in haste shall be diminished: but that which by little and little is gathered with the hand shall increase.	11 Le ricchezze fatte in fretta deperiranno: ma si moltiplicheranno quella, che son messe insieme appoco appoco con fatica.
12 Hope that is deferred afflicteth the soul: desire when it cometh is a tree of life.	12 La speranza differita affligge lo spirito; ma il desiderio adempiuto è albero di vita.
13 Whosoever speaketh ill of any thing, bindeth himself for the time to come: but he that feareth the commandment, shall dwell in peace. Deceitful souls go astray in sins: the just are merciful, and shew mercy.	13 Chi biasima alcuna cosa, si fa debitore pel tempo avvenire; ma chi rispetta il precetto, starà in pace. Le anime, che aman la frode, restan deluse ne' loro peccati: i giusti sono benigni, e usano misericordia.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, that he may decline from the ruin of death.	14 La legge del saggio è fontana di vita, ond'egli schivi la rovina, e la morte.
15 Good instruction shall give grace: in the way of scorners is a deep pit.	15 I buoni insegnamenti rendono l'uomo amabile: ma quelli, che li disprezzano, trovano tra via il precipizio.
16 The prudent mall doth all things with counsel: but he that is a fool, layeth open his folly.	16 L'uomo circospetto fa ogni cosa con consiglio; ma l'insensato fa conoscere la sua stoltezza.
17 The messenger of the wicked shall fall into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.	17 Il messo dell'empio caderà in isciagure: ma il messaggero fedele porta salute.
18 Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified.	18 La miseria, e l'ignominia è per chi fugge la disciplina: colui che da retta a chi lo corregge, avrà gloria.
19 The desire that is accomplished, delighteth the soul: fools hate them that flee from evil things.	19 Il desiderio ridotto ad effetto con sola l'anima: gli stolti detestano quelli, che fuggono il male.
20 He that walketh with the wise, shall be wise: a friend of fools shall become like to them.	20 Chi conversa co' saggi, sarà saggio: l'amico degli stolti diventerà simile a loro.
21 ,21Evil pursueth sinners: and to the just good shall be repaid.	21 Il male perseguita i peccatori: i giusti avranno i beni per loro mercede.
22 The good man leaveth heirs, sons, and grandsons: and the substance of the sinner is kept for the just.	22 L'uomo dabbene lascia eredi i figliuoli, e i nipoti; ma le facoltà del peccatore sono snerbate pel giusto.
23 Much food is in the tillage of fathers: but for others it is gathered with out judgment.	23 Uno trova abbondantemente da mangiare nei campi de' padri suoi, e senza giudizio raccoglie per altri.
24 He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.	24 Chi risparmia la verga, odia il suo figliuolo: ma chi lo ama, lo corregge di buon ora.
25 The just eateth and filleth his soul: but the belly of the wicked is never to be filled.	25 Il giusto mangia, soddisfa l'anima sua; ma il ventre degli empj è insaziabile.
