| 1 A psalm of David when he was in the desert of Edom. | 1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God, I seek thee, my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh faints for thee, as in a dry and weary land where no water is. |
| 2 O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways! | 2 So I have looked upon thee in the sanctuary, beholding thy power and glory. |
| 3 In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory. | 3 Because thy steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise thee. |
| 4 For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips shall praise. | 4 So I will bless thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on thy name. |
| 5 Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands. | 5 My soul is feasted as with marrow and fat, and my mouth praises thee with joyful lips, |
| 6 Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. | 6 when I think of thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the watches of the night; |
| 7 If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning: | 7 for thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings I sing for joy. |
| 8 because thou hast been my helper. And I will rejoice under the covert of thy wings: | 8 My soul clings to thee; thy right hand upholds me. |
| 9 my soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me. | 9 But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earth; |
| 10 But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth: | 10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword, they shall be prey for jackals. |
| 11 They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes. | 11 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall glory; for the mouths of liars will be stopped. |
| 12 But the king shall rejoice in God, all they shall be praised that swear by him: because the mouth is stopped of them that speak wicked things. |
