Psalms 56

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Unto the end, for a people that is removed at a distance from the sanctuary for David, for an inscription of a title (or pillar ) when the Philistines held him in Geth.	1 Al maestro di coro. Secondo "La colomba dei terebinti lontani". Di Davide. Miktam. Quando i Filistei lo tenevano a Gat.
2 Have mercy on me, O God, for man hath trodden me under foot; all the day long he hath afflicted me fighting against me.	2 Abbi pietà di me, o Dio, poiché un uomo mi ha calpestato, tutto il giorno uno che mi combatte m'opprime.
3 My enemies have trodden on me all the day long; for they are many that make war against me.	3 Mi hanno calpestato i miei avversari tutto il giorno, poiché molti mi combattono, o Altissimo.
4 From the height of the day I shall fear: but I will trust in thee.	4 Quando sono preso dal timore, in te io mi rifugio:
5 In God I will praise my words, in God I have put my trust: I will not fear what flesh can do against me.	5 in Dio, di cui celebro la promessa, in Dio confido: non temo; cosa potrà farmi un essere mortale?
6 All the day long they detested my words: all their thoughts were against me unto evil.	6 Tutto il giorno parlano e complottano, per la mia rovina sono tutti i loro piani:
7 They will dwell and hide themselves: they will watch my heel. As they have waited for my soul,	7 congiurano, tendono agguati. Ecco: le mie orme osservano, sì, aspettano al varco l'anima mia.
8 for nothing shalt thou save them: in thy anger thou shalt break the people in pieces, O God,	8 In ragione della colpa ripàgali: nell'ira i popoli prosterna, o Dio.
9 I have declared to thee my life: thou hast set my tears in thy sight, As also in thy promise.	9 I passi del mio vagare tu hai numerato, le mie lacrime son poste nel tuo otre, cioè nel tuo libro.
10 Then shall my enemies be turned back. In what day soever I shall call upon thee, behold I know thou art my God.	10 Allora si volgeranno indietro i miei nemici, nel giorno in cui a te griderò. Questo io so: Dio è per me!
11 In God will I praise the word, in the Lord will I praise his speech. In God have I hoped, I will not fear what man can do to me.	11 In Dio, di cui celebro la promessa, nel Signore, di cui celebro la promessa,
12 In me, O God, are vows to thee, which I will pay, praises to thee:	12 in Dio confido: non temo, cosa potrà farmi un uomo?
13 Because thou hast delivered my soul from death, my feet from falling: that I may please in the sight of God, in the light of the living.	13 Su di me, o Dio, i tuoi voti: voglio sciogliere a te le mie lodi,
	14 poiché hai strappato dalla morte l'anima mia, cioè il mio piede dalla caduta, affinché possa camminare al cospetto di Dio, nella luce dei viventi.
