Douai-Rheims Le Sainte Bible Fillion
Then Job answered, and said:1 Alors Job répondit en ces termes:
Whose helper art thou? is it of him that is weak? and dost thou hold up the arm of him that has no strength?2 De qui es-tu l'auxiliaire? Est-ce du faible? et soutiens-tu le bras d'un être dénué de force?
To whom hast thou given counsel? perhaps to him that hath no wisdom, and thou hast shewn thy very great prudence.3 A qui donnes-tu un conseil? Est-ce à celui qui n'a pas de sagesse? Vraiment tu as manifesté une immense prudence.
Whom hast thou desired to teach? was it not him that made life?4 Qui veux-tu instruire? N'est-ce pas Celui qui a créé le souffle de la vie?
Behold the giants groan under the waters, and they that dwell with them.5 Les géants mêmes et ceux qui habitent avec eux gémissent sous les eaux.
Hell is naked before him, and there is no covering for destruction.6 Le séjour des morts est à nu devant Lui, et l'abîme sans aucun voile.
He stretched out the north over the empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.7 Il étend le septentrion sur le vide, et suspend la terre sur le néant.
He bindeth up the waters in his clouds, so that they break not out and fall down together.8 Il lie les eaux dans Ses nuées, afin qu'elles ne fondent pas sur la terre toutes ensemble.
He withholdeth the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud over it.9 Il couvre la face de Son trône, et Il répand sur lui Sa nuée.
He hath set bounds about the waters, till light and darkness come to an end.10 Il a entouré les eaux d'une limite, jusqu'aux confins de la lumière et des ténèbres.
The pillars of heaven tremble, and dread at his beck.11 Les colonnes du ciel tremblent, et s'effrayent à Son moindre signe.
By his power the seas are suddenly gathered together, and his wisdom has struck the proud one.12 Sa puissance a rassemblé les mers en un instant, et Sa sagesse en a dompté l'orgueil.
His spirit hath adorned the heavens, and his obstetric hand brought forth the winding serpent.13 Son esprit a orné les cieux, et l'adresse de Sa main a fait paraître le serpent plein de replis.
Lo, these things are said in part of his ways: and seeing we have heard scarce a little drop of his word, who shall be able to behold the thunder of his greatness?14 Ce n'est là qu'une partie de Ses oeuvres; et si nous n'avons entendu qu'un léger murmure de Sa voix, qui pourra soutenir le tonnerre de Sa grandeur?
